I was initially very excited to find Handy Man Moving, as my brother and I needed to hire a local…read morecompany to move our elderly mom from independent living to assisted living, approx a mile away. We hired 3 men from Handy Man moving to assist in the move. Cheryl was very responsive and pleasant to work with on the front end, and we put down a $610 deposit. On our moving day it snowed approx 8", which isn't a big deal in VT and was highly anticipated for the entire week prior to that. Even though 2 of the 3 moving men we'd hired lived less than 10 miles away, all 3 of them cancelled the morning of our move and refused to come. I can't tell you how much stress and anxiety this created for my poor mom, as well as my brother who had driven up from Boston and only had 24 hours to get our mom moved. I want to point out that the foreman of the crew (Chad) was excellent, both in his communication and his empathy for the situation his company had created for us. He would have helped single-handedly us move but he had a fractured foot. He was in touch with us several times that day and told us that he had immediately fired the 3 moving men who didn't show up. The fact that Handy Man Moving cancelled on us last minute isn't the main reason I'm not recommending them, since the men who were supposed to help us were supposedly fired after this incident. I am giving this rating because Cheryl was completely unresponsive to phone calls, emails and texts for several days after Handy Man Moving left us in a lurch. I found it hugely unprofessional that she didn't immediately call me on moving day to apologize and either recommend alternative options or immediately offer to refund our upfront payment. I know for a fact that Chad was in touch with her, but NOT ONCE did she bother to pick the phone to me after that Saturday debacle. She finally sent me a short text several days later, after I'd reached out to her 6 different times on phone, email and text. She never apologized for her moving men not showing up, and only sent short sentences about being currently unable to obtain our refund from their processing company. I am a very understanding and forgiving person (including regarding the difficulties they were having obtaining my refund), but I found her unprofessional approach entirely unacceptable. It took me constant follow-up for 11 days before I was finally refunded our $610 deposit. . . . and we only received our refund because the foreman of the job personally sent me a Venmo. I know that Cheryl couldn't control how unreliable her moving guys were, but her lack of a timely, professional response is the reason for this negative review. Big thumbs up for her foreman's communication, but huge thumbs down for how Cheryl handled the situation.

After calling around to get quotes Handy Man Moving had far and away the most reasonable rate. Chad and Ricky showed up on time and within 2 hours had our two pods unloaded with no damages. When we had moved to N Carolina it took three guys over two hours to unload the same stuff. We cannot say enough how happy we are with Handy Man Moving! No travel fees, no hidden charges, just hard working and fair guys. We'd recommend them to anybody in the area and will definitely use them again.

We confirmed 4 days before our uhaul arrived for 4:30pm on Friday for 2 guys. On Friday morning, Mike sent us a text asking if we were still planning on moving today because it was going to rain. Of course we responded with yes, as we had already confirmed and discussed the potential for rain on the day of our move (it's VT in April... it rains all the time). At the time he texted at 9am we were making our 3 hour round trip drive to pick up the uhaul box and set it up at our house for the movers. About an hour later, he asked if we could move up the time a few hours, but realistically, we planned our entire day around the 4:30pm time that he confirmed, so we couldn't. Aaaaaand that was the last time we heard from Mike... 4:30 turns to 5:30, 6, 6:30... we're texting and calling him DOZENS of times. Absolutely NO RESPONSE. My husband and I had to do as much as we could in the rain together, but our furniture is still sitting in the uhaul since we really needed to help. We were left with absolutely no one to help us in a state we're completely new to with a uhaul we now have to pay more time for. Look, if you don't want to do the job because the rain bothers you, that's fine, but at the very least cancel with us so we could have the time to find someone else who can help us!! Please consider finding a more reliable company to work with than taking a gamble on such an unprofessional company... still in shock this actually happened...

This was an out-of-state delivery (to Connecticut). We were impressed by the professionalism at every step of the way. We didn't want to be surprised by "unexpected" additional costs when our furniture was delivered. Heidi's quote was higher than competitors but seemed much more reasonable compared with past moves. In the end, the final cost was a little lower than the estimate. More than fair cost for the value of the work done. Well done, Heidi! Justin, Matt, and Brad showed up promptly on the scheduled day to pack us. Polite, responsible -- and efficient! They packed boxes and protected the furniture well. They finished early enough to start loading the truck that day and came back the following day to finish loading. They arrived earlier than expected in Connecticut the following morning and unloaded very quickly. Furniture was positioned and reassembled as we wanted and boxes were placed in the correct locations. Amazing work! Nothing was lost. Nothing was broken. Despite the careful protection, there were minor scuff marks on a couple of pieces, but nothing worth trying to repair. On time, under budget, and in good order. It doesn't get better than that. Thanks, yet again, Heidi, Justin, Bradley, and Matt. Wonderful job. And we hope Heidi got some of Angelo's Italian cookies that we sent back with you. We don't plan to move again, but if we did, we would call Morways/ProMoving for the job.

Damage from 2d and much farther move was only discovered after taking position of our winter home several month later. Although most items arrived in good shape, there was one box of expensive dishes where 11 out of 12 of the dinner plates were broken. The plates were well bubble wrapped and the box was marked fragile. However, it appeared as if the box have been severely crushed during the move. The damage was reported to Boosaka but they did not take responsibility for the damage since they did not pack box the product. Given that there were at least 15 other boxes were fragile items that survived in good shape, the issue was obviously not related to how the broken box of dishes was packed. Fortunately the dish pattern is still available but will cost close to $370 dollars to replace.
