We moved into a home with a beautiful stone fireplace and chimney, but the previous owners told us…read moreit hadn't been used in 20 years. We knew we needed to get it checked out but moving to a new area makes is so hard to find reliable companies to do practically anything. I sent out a barrage of emails to a number of companies that served our area and one response jump out. They responded to my inquiry within just a few hours and were able to get me scheduled for a inspection within a few weeks. I'm sure autumn is a very busy time and my guess is they had a tech coming to the area without a full docket for the day. They have a very clear process, prompt communication, and a very professional approach. On the right day I got a call from the tech that he would be on site within 30 minutes, which was well within the expected window. When he arrived we chatted a bit and, once he got suited up, he jumped into the work and wasn't hesitant to get in there, clear the cobwebs, check some items in our basement, etc., Very thorough and he was able to provide me a good status of my chimney, options for the wood burning insert I had asked about, and a clear, documented, process for how I can get there plus what to do to make sure this chimney will last another 150 years. I was impressed. They are a professional organization, serving a very large area, and not the least expensive option. But, that's not to say they wouldn't be the best value. The technician onsite was very knowledgeable but wasn't shy about contacting his team for further input. All signs of a healthy, stable, company. No pressure. No hard sell. No forced timelines. Just great info, patience, and a real dedication to keeping things tidy! Great visit and a company I would use again for sure!

We all slammed on our breaks to a complete stop. Car behind me had to come up on my side to avoid slamming into me. I've seen wrecks in front of this place before, I'm assuming this is how they happen. These people should not be out driving around let alone working on people's houses. I will make it a personal mission to dissuade anyone from doing business with these dangerous fools. The driver in question is lucky I was on the way to work, all I'm going to say.

I had them out around 5 or so years ago to seal the crown of my chimney. Not knowing anything about it at the time of course, and based on their reviews, I fully trusted them as to what material should be applied for that purpose. Mason applied several tubes of Alex Plus caulk to the chimney crown. I was a little surprised they would use caulk, but then they were the "experts" right? They said this stuff will last 40 years, no problem! Your chimney is now fully sealed and protected! A few days ago I went up to inspect the chimney crown. Not an ounce of that caulk remains. Nada. Nothing. It's all gone. We're right back down to naked concrete again. And who knows how long it's been like that. So I called the Alex Plus manufacturer, and they said you should NEVER use Alex Plus for that purpose! Spoke to a chimney sweep, who said you should only use elastomeric sealants specifically made for chimney crowns. He was surprised any 'professional' would do something like that. Obviously, they didn't know what they were doing. Or what kind of sealant really should have been used. But they were nice. So $300 down the drain. Don't make the same mistake I made. Find somebody else.

Even knowing that we'd never be an actual customer, they gave very detailed responses and advice. I have seldom ever encountered such service! If they are ever able to service our area in the future, I wouldn't hesitate to give them my business.

After having committed to purchase a fireplace insert from another company in…read moreChittenden county VT., I discovered that the company was unable to offer a chimney inspection and cleaning before installing the unit. In order to make sure my chimney was safe for install I contacted several sweep Companies. Northeastern not only was the first to respond but they were able to schedule service at a very reasonable price within four days of my contact. The team that responded was meticulous and professional and even agreed to do an additional inspection and cleaning of a second flue in the building on the spot for only a nominal additional charge. Back at the office, Dillion the manager also invested considerable time and effort in helping me consider other available insert options that might be available through Northeastern should I change my mind on the first option. While I decided the original insert was still my best choice, based on the exceptional service Northeastern demonstrated, I chose to have them handle the install and I was not disappointed. The install team not only picked up the unit, an exceptionally heavy one weighing in at almost 600 Lbs from the other retailer, but as a team of only two moved it up over a set of stairs and into its final location. In conclusion I would recommend this company highly to anyone seeking chimney services and will continue to use them in the future for not only routine inspection and maintenance services but any other that is needed!

My experience with this company was marked by poor communication, missed commitments, and billing…read moreissues. I first met with them on 11/3. Prior to that appointment, numerous messages asking for a time went unanswered. On 11/3, I signed a contract for $5,900 for a chimney liner and hearth installation and paid the required deposit. The balance was paid in full shortly thereafter. I was told the project would be completed by 12/18, or sooner if they could "squeeze me in." A chimney liner was installed on 11/24, and I was specifically told the 12/18 completion date for a functional wood stove remained unchanged. The company was aware from the first meeting that the wood stove was my only permanent heat source. On the morning of 12/18, after multiple phone calls, texts, and emails asking when they would be arriving, I finally received a text stating that I was actually scheduled for 12/19. At that point, I was also informed that they did not yet have a plan for the hearth and had not even ordered it. Later that day, I was told the hearth was on backorder and that the delay was not their fault. However, documents later produced by the company showed the hearth was not ordered until 12/22. The hearth was finally installed on 1/14, nearly a month after the promised completion date. To make matters worse, I later received a separate bill for $855 for the hearth despite receiving no prior notice, authorization request, or approved change order for additional charges. There was also an $800 allowance in my estimate for chimney tear-out work that ultimately was not required, and a $250 charge for sealing around the chimney that was never performed. Mistakes and delays can happen on any project. What I found unacceptable was the lack of communication, the shifting explanations, and the billing disputes that followed. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this company.
