This man has no conscience, no ethical compass, and does business dirty to make a profit. He is unhinged, condescending, and worships money over service, professionalism, and honesty. My child is autistic and is a Regional Center client. Lucile Cowle, also under Daland Swim School, said that they would create an account with a 3rd party payer so that they could be directly paid by the 3rd party vendor with the Lanterman Regional Center. I started communicating with Lucile Cowle Swim School on March 5, 2025. It is now July 2026 (16 months later), and I have finally been reimbursed after countless calls and emails. The only way that I was paid for adaptive swim lessons was to bypass LC completely, and Aveanna 3rd-party payers conducted a full investigation to unpack their numerous lies. Dealing with this unethical company was so traumatic and all-consuming. Aveanna had to create an internal memo to no longer deal with this company because they would often refuse to respond, say they already did without turning in the necessary paperwork, and they never responded to the Lanterman Regional Center. My Lanterman Regional Center worker constantly reached out to LC/Daland Swim School, and their statements about when they responded do not align with any of the paper trail. They have made it difficult at every turn. Read my reviews. I never posted a single negative review of a business before today. I have never posted a negative review even when the service or good wasn't great because I don't want to damage a business for having an off day. However, this took 16 months of my time, and the executive director, Tarrik Daou was so nasty, condescending, and more fearful of not covering his bases when too many outside parties (not me) came with financial questions than actually providing honest, reputable service or transparent, ethical accounting. I have a long paper trail that can back up every claim I have been as opposed to Lucile Cowle, who can't keep records or even finish setting up a business account for 8 months. This is step 1 of any financial accounting. I just can't in any good conscience recommend this awful institution or Tarrik's narcissistic personality as someone you want to deal with. Please. There are other reputable swim schools who won't lie to you. I don't call people liars easily; in fact, I literally never have before in any business review. I had to come up with a long paper trail and unravel his lies because he's such an expert gaslighter; you want to double and triple-check facts to make sure the accounting is done correctly. Please take your business elsewhere. There are swim schools that actually care about your kids, not just the money that comes with it. If your child has any special needs, please stay away. Being a special-needs parent who must advocate for your child's special needs is hard; why add to your load by constantly having to unravel one vendor's outright lies? Your time is precious, and your child can become an agile swimmer at a swim school that loves children and not just sees an opportunity to financially exploit you.

The amount of lanes were you able to get your lane if you wanted to do laps. Had multiple lifeguards onduty on top of safety and the place was clean. I will say the bathrooms could've been better, but overall the rest is really good. They had pool toys for you to use and my son really loved the water basketball hoop. It was also pretty neat that you can bring your own food or order your food for delivery. Four dollars per person is a great price! They also have summer movie nights and Sunday evenings with the inflatable pool jumper which I thought was pretty cool. Definitely plan to come back .

He did not learn or retain much from those sessions, between his fear of putting his face in the water, inability to keep warm (a neoprene shorty was still too cold in the summer) and short attention span. When I signed up for Connect the dots l picked lessons at midday to ensure it was warm enough for him. The main difference I noticed was that lessons were very focused. There were learning goals to be met each day, and most of the time it was exciting and fun but sometimes the kids reach an area outside of their comfort zone and the teachers at connect the dots don't back off. They firmly but gently keep working on it. That's why these 1-on-1 lessons cost more. My son had McKenna, the new lady teacher and he did well. Not a tear in the end but of course, if we don't keep practicing he will forget what he learned. Other things that will help your child to maximize learning at these lessons (not requirement but helps) -Sufficient upper body strength to push/lift themselves out of edge of pool -Able to understand/follow instruction in English -Able to handle being in and out of water in outdoor environment for 25 mins (my son needed neoprene suit and midday lessons) -Ability to coordinate limbs I watched a 6 year old learn to thread water, and swim the length of the pool (12 feet?) and he came in with some fear of water like my son.

They have corrected the issues causing us grief and seem to have staff here now that are receptive to the members requests. This is a welcome change; so in response I have updated my rating. And thank you for finally removing the locks on the windows so 1) we can get out in an emergency; and 2) too bad we had to endure sweltering Summer with no ability to open them. Now that it is Winter, it's not much help, but nonetheless it is noticed that you all finally responded to the members request.

We always run into Coach Russell camp campers around town after the summer is over! There's a rec pool that maybe goes to 4.5 ft depth so it's perfect for just enjoying the water when you can't lap swim because the pool is crowded. A large picnic table area can be found in the middle of the center too so you can being lunch and snacks too. There a larger Olympic size pool on the west end of the center that can be used for lap swimming so overall it's great for all ages and swimming levels. We're planning to be here quite a bit for the summer! There's also cabanas to change into and showers to rinse off before and after swimming.

The pools & facilities are clean and in great condition. Water temperature is about 78 degrees and they have multiple pools to accommodate lap swimming, classes, and a kid's pool. The restrooms are pretty clean, contain 3 private shower stalls, multiple open showers, and a machine to wring out your bathing suit which is a plus. I hope to be back next summe

I am from Belize which is of course famous for its beautiful Caribbean Sea and water resorts. As a child I had a near drowning experience which has haunted me and prevented me from learning to swim. Many years ago, I attempted swimming lessons but I quit after only one lesson... the pool was scary, the water was cold and the instructor had little patience with me. Fast forward to 2023, my husband and I moved to Thousand Oaks and purchased a home that happened to come with a large beautiful pool. I remember secretly telling myself then that I no longer had any excuse preventing me from learning to swim. By chance, I came across a street flyer for 805 LifeGuard while walking my dog one day. The flyer stated that they work with special needs children of all ages and adults as well. I called Jasper the very next day and we got started.. Today, I am very comfortable in my pool and able to swim without hesitation. Jasper, the trainer, is VERY patient, knowledgeable and always communicates well. I Highly Recommend 805 LifeGuard! Jasper was the lifeguard at my daughter's pool birthday party. He kept a close watch on the kids the entire time and made sure they stayed safe. It was perfect because my husband and I didn't have to worry about watching the pool while we were doing other things for the party. It also gave us time to visit with the adults. 805 Lifeguard to the rescue. It's great having our grandkids over to splash in the pool, but it's imperative for them to be competent swimmers and to know pool safety. Jasper brought focus, fun and creative teaching skills to our 5 and 6 year old grandkids who enjoyed "zip humming" throughout the summer. He gives simple instructions, encourages the kids to continue to try new things, and helps them work through their fears. She did cry the first three lessons, but she listened to everything he said to her and on day four she took off swimming. She took her lessons with her cousins, so there were three of them for 30 minutes and they each take turns. Water safety is #1.

Aquatic therapy offers my son, who has cerebral palsy and is non-ambulatory, the opportunity to move, stretch and stengthen his body like no other physical therapies. Westlake Athletic Club is the exact opposite - easy in and out, never over crowded (at least the gym; the pool sometimes fills up). Great place to work out.

The coaches make the kids work, but they don't mind because they are enjoying themselves. I have also noticed that the coaches also work their groups physical AND mental fortitude. They always start the season with a goal sheet so the kids could write down what they want to work for throughout the season. This is amazing! Prior to joining the team my daughters only dreamed of going to the junior Olympics. Now they both can qualify for the junior Olympics, and are starting to think about trying to get into Nationals. I also feel like the parents are extremely supportive, and try to help each other. I would recommend this swim team to anyone who wants their kids to get better at swimming in a caring and thoughtful way.
