We've had an amazing experience with Gale! Gale is patient, encouraging, and has a wonderful ability to build trust while gently helping children move beyond their comfort zones. My child absolutely loves her, she practices her swim skills at home and even pretends to be Teacher Gale during playtime! It's clear that Gale has made a lasting impression and helped her develop a genuine love of swimming. This has been such a positive and rewarding experience. I couldn't be happier with the progress my child has made, and I highly recommend Gale to any parent looking for a wonderful swim instructor!

I wanted so badly to…read morehave a good experience with Gale because she has so much experience but this is the last straw. Honestly, I was already getting frustrated with Gale as she was very irritated and impatient with my 2 year old. He was anxious, and he's speech delayed so he has a hard time verbally communicating that. I tried getting him excited for swim lessons by talking about the cool pool toys she had, and it actually kind of worked. I told her before the lesson how he's so excited to play with the ducks. She said ducks are exciting! Then didn't bring the toys out that lesson of the 2 following it. She also multiple times complained about other customers to me. I find that pretty unprofessional. But I thought maybe I'm just being overly sensitive. She's from a different generation. They do things differently. It's just hard to hear your baby crying for you. I thought we just needed to push through. But while he's upset she just kept telling him NO STOP. You're not going to cry. You're FINE. With so much annoyance. Honestly it reminds me of the jaded nurses I work with in the hospital who have been doing it forever and get annoyed with patients for needing anything extra or for being any level of difficult. Just so unsympathetic. He's 2. He's scared. This is still new to him. But I pressed on despite thinking maybe this isn't a good match of personalities. But half way through our month of swim lessons my son caught hand foot and mouth disease and so did our entire house. It was awful. I informed Gale and after calling out x2 she said I've taken you off the daily schedule just let us know when you're better. To me this communicates you don't need to keep calling out. Now she's telling me we no showed 3 times. Called out 2 times. Implying we can only reschedule 2 lessons. I'm sorry that's crazy. These lessons are expensive $85 a lesson. What a waste of money, and yet I'm relieved to take my business elsewhere.

My almost 5 year old son has a slight fear of getting his face wet and had previously attended 3…read moresessions at crpd last summer. He did not learn or retain much from those sessions, between his fear of putting his face in the water, inability to keep warm (a neoprene shorty was still too cold in the summer) and short attention span. When I signed up for Connect the dots l picked lessons at midday to ensure it was warm enough for him. The main difference I noticed was that lessons were very focused. There were learning goals to be met each day, and most of the time it was exciting and fun but sometimes the kids reach an area outside of their comfort zone and the teachers at connect the dots don't back off. They firmly but gently keep working on it. That's why these 1-on-1 lessons cost more. My son had McKenna, the new lady teacher and he did well. Not a tear in the end but of course, if we don't keep practicing he will forget what he learned. Other things that will help your child to maximize learning at these lessons (not requirement but helps) -Sufficient upper body strength to push/lift themselves out of edge of pool -Able to understand/follow instruction in English -Able to handle being in and out of water in outdoor environment for 25 mins (my son needed neoprene suit and midday lessons) -Ability to coordinate limbs I watched a 6 year old learn to thread water, and swim the length of the pool (12 feet?) and he came in with some fear of water like my son.

What a wonderful swimming class! It was worth every penny, and worth taking the time. My son is a…read moreconfident swimmer, and is ready to take on this summer! I would recommend this place to everybody.

Go anywhere else! Stay away! They are liars and scammers! Completely unethical and unprofessional!…read more Tarrik Daou is the executive director of the Lucile Cowle Swim School (now the Daland Swim School). This man has no conscience, no ethical compass, and does business dirty to make a profit. He is unhinged, condescending, and worships money over service, professionalism, and honesty. My child is autistic and is a Regional Center client. Lucile Cowle, also under Daland Swim School, said that they would create an account with a 3rd party payer so that they could be directly paid by the 3rd party vendor with the Lanterman Regional Center. I started communicating with Lucile Cowle Swim School on March 5, 2025. It is now July 2026 (16 months later), and I have finally been reimbursed after countless calls and emails. The only way that I was paid for adaptive swim lessons was to bypass LC completely, and Aveanna 3rd-party payers conducted a full investigation to unpack their numerous lies. Dealing with this unethical company was so traumatic and all-consuming. Aveanna had to create an internal memo to no longer deal with this company because they would often refuse to respond, say they already did without turning in the necessary paperwork, and they never responded to the Lanterman Regional Center. My Lanterman Regional Center worker constantly reached out to LC/Daland Swim School, and their statements about when they responded do not align with any of the paper trail. They have made it difficult at every turn. Read my reviews. I never posted a single negative review of a business before today. I have never posted a negative review even when the service or good wasn't great because I don't want to damage a business for having an off day. However, this took 16 months of my time, and the executive director, Tarrik Daou was so nasty, condescending, and more fearful of not covering his bases when too many outside parties (not me) came with financial questions than actually providing honest, reputable service or transparent, ethical accounting. I have a long paper trail that can back up every claim I have been as opposed to Lucile Cowle, who can't keep records or even finish setting up a business account for 8 months. This is step 1 of any financial accounting. I just can't in any good conscience recommend this awful institution or Tarrik's narcissistic personality as someone you want to deal with. Please. There are other reputable swim schools who won't lie to you. I don't call people liars easily; in fact, I literally never have before in any business review. I had to come up with a long paper trail and unravel his lies because he's such an expert gaslighter; you want to double and triple-check facts to make sure the accounting is done correctly. Please take your business elsewhere. There are swim schools that actually care about your kids, not just the money that comes with it. If your child has any special needs, please stay away. Being a special-needs parent who must advocate for your child's special needs is hard; why add to your load by constantly having to unravel one vendor's outright lies? Your time is precious, and your child can become an agile swimmer at a swim school that loves children and not just sees an opportunity to financially exploit you.
