Hi - I am visiting Maui and my rental car battery died for 2nd time, which is a bit inconvenient as you need to call the mainland (Avis) , be put on hold, answer all the questions and then wait for dispatch of a tow truck. It takes about 90 min to 2 hours in the parking lot. Well 808 Towing was my second time with the battery dead. I went through the routine and to my surprise I got a call from a LIVE PERSON at 808 Towing. He was updating me on timing and was Super Professional and Helpful. I got off the phone and was thinking, WOW that guy is cool. He somehow put me in a great mood, as I wait at the Kihei Aquatic Center for another 45 min. I had time to think and said, I need this guys "Maui-Vibe". (Seriously, how can someone turn a bummer into such a good situation by being professional and helpful.) Well he pulled up in the fire engine red 808 Tow Truck. I was excited. He jumped my car and offered to help, which was just outstanding!!! I don't know his full name but his first name is Ross. OMG!! This crew is incredible. I'd give them 10 stars if I could! From the very first phone call (when I was in a panic), Peter alleviated all our concerns. Our first problem was not having a ramp to load the container and NO ONE knew where to rent one (I called 5 or 6 places). Thankfully, I happened to Google "How to load a car in a shipping container" and a video popped up showing a tow truck could be used. I called 808 Towing and Peter advised me he could handle it, no issue. He also had a contact w KTS that rented ramps for container loading/ unloading, praise the Lord!! I called Joy and was able to get the ramp next day and 808 even delivered the 12 ft ramp to us. Peter even picked up the necessary straps to secure our vehicle in the container without a deposit or anything. Just our word! As scheduled, they came today once the container was full to load our BRAND NEW SUV. Peter was in a truck along w another employee in his own truck, both ready to get the job done. They knocked it out without a problem and were absolutely polite and courteous the whole time. I also should add, I've texted and called Peter numerous times w random questions and concerns and never once has he been unavailable. If he says he will call back, he does! I got a flat tire in a rental car ona rainy day. I called 808 because one of the lug nuts was stuck. Warrick showed up and was willing to lay down in the mud to help change the tire. The lug nut wound up being so stuck he had to tow me all the way back to the airport to get a car replacement. He turned a bad situation into a good day by sharing some local knowledge and recommending some good restaurants. I went to the sushi place he told me about and it was good! My car's battery was died and I planned to ship back to O'ahu fist. So I called 808 towing for tow it to the port. Peter! After he knew my situation, he said if I trust him, he will help me out with a more cheaper way and save more time for me. so I trust him, he helped me unlock the car, replaced the battery and take me to the port instead of towing over. The other day while on vacation in Hawaii we needed a tow truck south of Hana (let me add I am 63 and handicapped). We called AAA Roadside Assistance (after having to hike 1/4 mile to get a cell signal). AAA was very helpful and said they would dispatch a tow truck and it should be there in 2 1/2 hours or 5:45 pm. to tow us to Kahului, I also told AAA about a tow truck driver who I had flagged down with a AAA logo but he wanted $800 cash to tow us to Kahului to which the AAA dispatcher said he should never had asked to be paid when I'm a AAA member. When 5:45 rolls around and still no truck (and having turned down offers of a ride from other tourists because we thought a tow truck was coming) I hike back to get a signal, I see a voice message from "808 TOWING" telling me they will not come out until I pre pay them $1000.00 for the tow because AAA will not pay for a tow from this area. I call 808 towing and explain that all of our belongs are locked in the trunk of the car and assure them that I will pay them when the driver arrives but they insist on money first. I kept pleading with them but they will not help until they got paid first. A short time later a local man drives by and asks if we need help and I explained our situation. The man, SAM, says he has the equipment to open our car so we can get our stuff. Sam gets our car open and then drives me back where there is cell coverage so I can call 808 towing back. I speak to the young lady at 808 towing and give her my credit card info but they also want screenshots of my card and Drivers License which takes me a few minutes to do cause of the poor cell reception but I finally get it to them (we would lose our signal and get disconnected). I called back and the young lady confirmed she received everything but the supervisor wanted to talk to me. The supervisor gets on the phone and tells me he's not sending anyone cause it's too late now (7pm) to send anyone (he tells me this after I jumped through hoops to send them screenshots of my credit card and drivers license when they could have told me all of this when I first called, but I guess it's a big joke to them to mess with people). He then tells me he's not going to get into it with me and doesn't want to hear my pleas or anything about the ALOHA SPIRIT and he doesn't care if we have to spend the night on the side of the road in the middle of no where. I have filed a complaint with AAA regarding this company and will also file with the BBB and the regulatory agencies on Maui and hopefully someone will put a stop to companies like this who try to gouge people in their hour of desperation. My advise to you is to NEVER USE THIS TOW COMPANY SO THEY WILL LEARN THEY CANNOT MESS WITH PEOPLE LIKE THEY DID WITH ME. read more

Never have i been in an emergency lockout situation but today my daughter locked my keys in my truck. I diddnt have cash or a credit card and get paid in a couple days, were a good honest family, 3 kids and a pregnant wife, everyone was wet,cold and thirsty, drinks in the truck and suns going down and no way to get home or get in our vehicle.. the receptionist was nice but the supervisor PETER was so so rude, he demanded jewelry for collateral!!!, refused my other car title as collateral or anything else. I've never called 808 directly but they have been dispatched by AAA for me three times in the past few years and I cannot say enough good things about the folks who arrive to save the day. I've had a SUV hauled onto a flatbed, a flat tire on Puunene Hwy, and a battery service handled by these folks and in all cases, the job is done right, done promptly, and professionally. I'd highly recommend 808 Towing to anyone who needs roadside assistance, of any kind. Great people and service. My battery died while I was parked at the beach. I called my car insurance to have someone install a new battery. They said someone would be out within two hours. A half hour later they called me back and said they couldn't find anyone to assist me and it was up to me to find someone, and then send my insurance company the bill. I was upset. I asked people on the beach if they knew of any company, and someone mentioned 808 Towing. I called Peter, the owner, and he was compassionate and concerned. He said a lady by the name of Megan would be out within the hour. He wanted a pinpoint of where I was and I didn't know how to do it on my phone. Peter patiently guided me step by step. Magan called me to confirm everything and about 30 minutes later she pulled up in the beach parking lot. She was polite, professional looking, kind, and made sure I was okay. I was impressed with her and enjoy talking to her. I commented on how beautiful their red truck looked, and she said her boss, Peter, makes sure they have the best equipment, and it always looks good. Peter and 808 Towing provided a great service today. I locked my keys in my car at Makawao Forest Reserve and called AAA. AAA connected me to 808 Towing. At first the receptionist explained the road to the Reserve is not maintained by the county (it's a State preserve) and so is not an area they can service through AAA. Apparently it's in a zone that they can only offer commercial services at $225. I said thanks and that I'd ask AAA if there was another option. Peter, the owner, called back in minutes to follow up. We chatted about rules and regulations, and the sometimes difficult road access on island. He called AAA to figure things out and 45 minutes later, he had my car opened and I was reunited with my keys, all under my AAA membership. Peter and his crew at 808 Towing (Jacey on the phone and Justin and John with additional trucks) helped us load not just one, but two cars onto our container being shipped to the mainland. The first car was our family's 'baby', a pretty, yellow Mercedes Benz 1962 190SL convertible roadster (we shipped it with the hard top on). The 808 crew, with calculated and careful planning, safely loaded the car onto the container, (currently not drivable), anchored it in place with chocks and ties and then replaced the crazy 40' container in our little driveway for loading. Ready for a safe a trip from Kahului, HI to Billings, MT! Our household goods though took up less space than we thought... so... 3 days later, they were able to help us again... this time loading the everyday Buick onto the container. Again, with all the care and attention you would give to your favorite Aunt or Grandmothers, they loaded and anchored the Buick in place. Then, as we had planned, Justin drove the container to Port of Kahului for shipping. I should add, they also were able to pick up rented ramps for us for loading the container when the container was first brought to our residence, and returned them for us when we were done. Logistics of this endeavor were not easy to navigate -- Jacey worked closely the entire time with me to help facilitate workings between site and crew and she was always very sweet and so very helpful! These guys are AMAZING! 808 Towing should be your first call for any towing help or needs. And I highly recommend them if you are loading any car onto a container for shipping. Born and raised upcountry, been a service member for 9 years, never ever had a problem with 808 towing. They have saved me so much $$$$ over the years , I'm very busy as we own a farm and tend to lock my keys in my truck fron time to time with the everyday struggle. Today I have the pleasant experience of meeting Peter and his son . From the start as soon as we met , he was very loud and aggressive. We live 200 ft down a gravel road to our paved driveway as we live upcountry on ag land ,As most people in this area know and have , it's County... He refused to provide any service and even though I tried defusing the situation as he was not having a very good day. I had explained to him that I just recently received service in the same house with no problem. He stated "808 towing is not responsible to provide service on gravel roads... He stated he didn't want to get his truck dirty." He then called his supervisor and asked for the names of the people who were responsible for helping me the other day. Who was able to unlock my truck within 5 minutes no hassle or problem. He got 5 star's. Peter he get -0 star's. 808 towing please be more careful of who u hire , with his tender love and care I was ready to cancel my service on the spot . Let me first say that every Employee at 808 Towing is awesome. However, the Owner (Peter Darlington) has some severe issues. After trying to Bully and Intimidate me after one of his employees accidently damaged my car while preforming a lock out. He then proceeds to allow his young son (poor guy) to further attempt to demean me. The little boy was not allowed to finish but 3 words..."Here's the deal..."...and yes, that's how he started his conversation with me. I shut him down quickly. Then Peter says "No, let him finish". I refused as this was what I thought to be a grown ups only conversation. It was very unprofessional. Many words said after that point. Bottom line, his defense was way up when he got there. Then he resorted to accusing me of committing Insurance Fraud. Accusing the body repair shop of price gouging... Seriously feel bad for this guy. Should check out his Bio on their website. "a work ethic only seen in movies". Well, they can say that again lol. His employees could teach him how to be a better person if he'd ever let them. Anywho, he's allowed to disagree and then let the Insurance Carriers handle the complaint, it's something he should never involve himself in...especially because he dosnt have the character or emotional capacity to resolve issues. Thankfully, I have video that shows our exchange . Filed a complaint with AAA and BBB. Taking this full course until I have justice. If you choose to use them then just ask to make sure your driver isn't Peter...then pray nothing goes wrong to put you in his path. Anyone can change right? Hopefully he does. RIP OFF - - I needed a tow from Wailea to Kihei (which is the same zip code for those of you that don't know). Literally 5 miles. And they charged me $300. The driver was super professional and punctual and I don't think he had anything to do with the cost, so I appreciate him. I had the same car towed the next day from one mechanic to another 20 miles and was only charged $150 by DSP trucking. Do not use 808-Towing they're crooked and a rip off. read more

I needed to load a 2019 Tesla Model 3 into a 40' container, which is not easy because of the vehicle's super low clearance. When other towing companies said that they wouldn't touch the job, or wanted to charge me extra, Peter took the job on with his professional, courteous and extremely helpful team. Denise was very pleasant to work with and had the scheduling down. Peter put my mind totally at ease and gave me many additional loading tips. He also referred me to Joy at KT&S for the moving ramp rental. John was there on the loading day making sure not a single scratch was made on the car as it was being loaded into the container. First off, they charged us twice the going rate to drop off a container. Then they dropped it off without any wheels. They left it flat on our concrete driveway without blocks! Then after it was filled, they said it was to heavy to haul. We had to find someone else to pick it up and our driveway was ruined. They refused to take responsibility or reimburse.
