The store is a decent size on the second floor near the men's Macy. They were not busy on a Friday night and they have a decent amount of skateboard and skateboard accessories here. He was able to get them all set up and designed for the actor and stunt double to use. We went with an early 90's shape deck and wider trucks and old school wheels. Everything is legit to the 1990-91 time period of the show. As for knowledge, Marko has been around long enough to know most any type of skate related question you could have for him. I would say please check out this hidden gem of a skate shop. Support local skate shops instead of online shopping. The best value comes from visiting your local skate shop and help build your local skate community.

They had a better selection than the one at Santa Anita mall. I was able to find the snowboard that I wanted but they didn't have much sizes for the binding. I asked the worker in the front with glasses and he checked and told me that in their system, it looks like the Santa Anita mall might have the one I wanted but for the older season which I was fine with so he helped me call to make sure they have it but unfortunately it was an error in their system but I appreciate the help and wonderful service I was given! Most of the snowboard items right now are recently priced as they carried a lot of items from previous seasons.

I then walked to the skateboard area and they had some nice boards on the wall. They seem fully stocked today and I like some of the designs on the shirts they had. I also looked at their sunglasses since I saw they carried Oakley brand here. They carry Nixon watches here as well if you're interested. The staff worked with us to order a bicycle with the exact specifications we were looking for. They ordered a Beaumont Cruiser and it was perfect! One interesting thing about the Beaumont is that it comes with a warranty but only if it's assembled by a certified bike shop. Luckily, Second Wind is certified and they assembled the bike for us. By the way, my bike is brand new. So this store not only sells used items but new ones too. And they can order items too. I'm looking forward to getting more sports items from here because it's such a nice business.

With that said, once inside, they do a great job of stocking as much as possible given that this is a slightly smaller Big 5 location than others. I always make a point of coming to this location first because chances are checkout lines will be shorter and then if they don't have what I'm looking for I go up the street to the Granada Hills location. Staff here is also very friendly. They tend to only be at the register and aren't wandering around the store a ton, but I've also never really needed help finding things as the store is very well laid out and intuitive. Prices are fine. Nothing amazing, but they're better priced than other big box sporting good store chains so, once again, this is always our first stop for gear for our 3 growing kids & their youth sports gear. If you give them your email you'll get a weekly email with some good deals that often are catered to whatever sport season is about to start as well which I greatly appreciate. If not, chances are you'll get a coupon in the mail for 20% off or $5 off a purchase of $20 or more. So always keep an eye out for one of those if you know you are going to need to buy anything.

After I had lunch with a friend of mine yesterday, I decided to stop by at this particular store in Van Nuys to check out the store, and if they had what I was looking for. Yes they did! I needed boxing gloves since I take a class, a women's sports bra in black, (was on clearance rack 50% off). Not too shabby. I also needed a folding chair that I can use to sit outside. I found the exact chair in the color that I was looking for. It was $15 NOT/including tax. It even has a cup holder which is a plus. I also needed a Foam Roller for my back. Got that too. Last, but not least, I needed 2 and half pound dumbbells. They had pink and black. I went with the pink color. That's all I needed from this store yesterday. Everything was nicely organized, got a very nice welcome from 2 of their employees, store was clean with decent sized parking lot, and they did have a bathroom. Love Big 5. Really just a I'm going on a retreat for a full week and need some update things including a queen size air mattress, tarp, miscellaneous items and compression socks (from my recent ankle tumble via tropical storm in SoCal with more to come on my trip lol finally 90% better... I digress). I received good customer service both on the floor and at checkout though super personable from the Big 5 Van Nuys crew floating about more so. My cashier was cool, but 100% ready to get off work... The vibe was there.... I feel you girl, that's why I'm on vacay... Take one too, they're good for you (reset)!! They have a huge selection of sporting goods, athletic wear, swim gear and items including cool pools, camping supplies, fishing as well as hunting equipment and much more. The quality of items is solid, though the small light I purchased with a clip was the one item that didn't pull through for me as it didn't work after adding batteries to it several times, I did have other lights I had purchased from this location previously in the past that do still hold up well. Some items are locked on display like the headlamps, but you can find someone easily to assist you. Everything I was looking for I found and/or was guided to where it would be in this staple location just above Van Nuys Blvd & Sherman Way. They have an easy entrance parking lot and even when a little busier seem to keep things flowing from start to finish... Making this B5SG clear, clean and under control... After she found the pair she wanted, she asked me to go form line. I was waiting in line for a good 10 minutes (the only obvious customer waiting, and the other cashier didn't even say anything to the other cashier that came over) as there was only one cashier who was assisting a customer. Then, another random lady popped up out of nowhere and decided to wait at the counter next to the cashier. Suddenly, another associate came and started to check her out instead of telling her that I was there waiting prior. Do Better So yes, if you have the time to kill, come here as they move slow and even ignore the customers who are in line and assist folks who cut line.
