Had a dead thermostat and a VERY old furnace (20+ years). Got bids from several HVAC companies. Felipe and his associate came out and installed the smart thermostat I had already purchased. He offered to do a service on the old furnace or give me a quote for a completely new and upgraded one. I went with the new one. He installed a Bryant heater that was more appropriate for our sized house than the one we had been using ("Should save you about 25% in heating costs.") Additionally, he fabricated an access panel in the unit to enable us to change out the filters much more easily. All included in his very fair price. I searched and searched for a furnace repair company to service my home in the South Monterey County area and could not get companies to come out or even call me back. Felipe called me back in a short period and was very courteous. We made an appointment that same week and he worked around my schedule! I can not tell you how grateful we are to Felipe for coming out early this morning to help us and efficiently repair an electrical problem caused by the furnace installation (another company). He included a short lesson on trouble shooting and showed my husband exactly what went wrong.... it was another company's installation of the furnace (both AC and furnace tied to the thermostat. In deciding to get AC a year ago, we shopped around and felt 831 offered the best unit at the best price. We've never had to call him for any problem before and this problem wasn't his equipment or work... He also took our filters in to do a professional cleaning... no extra holiday or emergency fees. Note: When we started shopping around, my husband was in the hospital, I had one heating company send out a guy who was smooth and scary, showed me a photo of our furnace that wasn't our furnace.to push me into buying. I called 831 Heating and Air to have our AC moved from the back of our house to the side. We were installing a pool and needed it to be out of the way. Due to weather we were given very short notice by the pool people when they would be coming to start the pool. Literally they gave us 2 days to be read! I called several places and Felipe was the best quote and offered to come over the day before they started digging to move it out of the way. He did not have time to connect it again after he moved it, but we got it moved and that was the most important thing. He said he would come back a week later to install when he had time which was ok by us. The weather has been very wet this year and we didn't get it installed until 2 weeks later, but Felipe was very good at staying in touch with us and making sure we knew he had not forgotten us. We didn't want him working with electricity while it was raining. :) He was very thorough and seems to have done a very good job connecting it properly on the side of the house.
