    Uncle Buck's Painting and Restoration

Unfortunately, this was a bad decision as he basically ran off with my money, and did not do the job. What happened was that my customer had a deadline for the job to be done, and William didn't order the paint in time, so the customer canceled the job. He said he was waiting for my down payment before ordering the paint, so I don't fully blame him for the paint not arriving in time. The main reason I'm dissatisfied is that he did not refund my down payment after the job was canceled. We're talking about over $2,000 here! He basically returned the paint he ordered and kept the money. I tried asking him nicely on multiple occasions to give me the down payment back, and he refused at first. After asking him multiple times, he agreed to give me the money back in installments. This was not ideal for me, but I agreed to accept the payment in installments because he said money was tight for him. The only problem is that it has been months now, and he has only given me one installment of $400 back. I keep asking him to make another payment per our agreed upon schedule, but at this point he is so late on his payments that I have basically given up hope of ever getting my money back. I also tried contacting Zelle to get me my money back, but they said that they can't help me as Zelle is more or less like cash. At the end of the day, what he did was basically theft and totally unacceptable. I highly recommend thinking twice before giving him a down payment. If you do decide to, at least don't do it via Zelle.

I can't speak for others who hired Venator to do other types of work which may be totally different…read morethan the work I required. I hired Venator to install a 4" channel drain that was to replace an original 28 year old 1" drain that was no longer adequate to collect heavy rains and move it away from my patio. While Venator's proposal seemed to be promising to provide a much needed improvement, the end results were a big disappointment. A concrete opening had to be cut in order to receive the new Spee-D Channel drain along a 25' section of my concrete patio, but they cut the opening too small. They proceeded to trim the Spee-D Channel on the bottom to make it fit into the undersized opening, which compromised the integrity of the plastic channel and wasted time focusing on the retrofitting process. All they had to do was to cut an additional 2-3" strip from the concrete and the drain would have dropped into place as the instructions suggested. After numerous attempts to inform the owner, who refused to visit the site to inspect the work, he insisted the job was being done by "Industry Standards". His main communication was via Text. I kept him informed of the shoddy workmanship with the hopes he would come by to see for himself. That was not on his agenda, even after expressing my dissatisfaction with the job as it was proceeding. I was not given a dedicated day for the work to be done. It seemed like my job was fitted in after the workers finished on a previous job. The two workers showed up at 6pm on day one and worked until 8:30pm. Not being able to finish, they had to return the next day at 3pm and worked until 8pm. The two worked hard doing their job but it seemed like this was an exploration, not a familiar experience for them. The left photo is what the installation should look like if done correctly and the right photo is what was installed, after having to cut the bottom flange on the channel drain to force it into the opening in the ground. Unfortunately, you never know what results you will get from a vendor until the job is completed. I am sorry I hired Venator for this job and I do not recommend him for this type of work.

A costly mistake, not just for this job, but for the tens, if not hundreds of thousands in future work that could have followed. They say 80% of success is simply showing up. He answered all of our questions and explained everything very thoroughly. We also needed to have our siding replaced and Wesley said he was happy to work with any siding contractor we chose. He offered to demo the deck and install new flashing and ledger boards before the siding was replaced, then come back and install the new deck after the siding was done. Wesley said they would get a permit and inspection. While the other deck contractors either took several days to send a quote or ghosted us, Wesley sent a very detailed and competitive quote with better/best options hours after meeting with us, and we hired him. We met Kym at the showroom in Kennesaw to look at all of the decking and railing options and were very impressed with everything. We decided to go with the Trex Transcend Lineage Jasper and Trex Signature Black aluminum railing. Kenneth came out to take measurements and followed up with awesome renderings showing the deck from five different angles. Eddie, Thomas, and Carlos demoed the old deck and installed new flashing and ledger boards in one day. After the siding contractor replaced the siding, Eddie returned with Israel and Antonio to build the new deck. They finished the deck in seven days and it looks amazing, a night and day difference from the old deck. Our favorite details include the post brackets that secure the posts to the concrete while keeping them off the ground and away from water, the switchback stairs, each decking board is one continuous piece (no butt joints), color matched screws, and the cocktail rail. The inspector said "they did a nice job for you." We were very impressed with the entire Brawner team, love our new deck, and give them our highest recommendation.
