I ordered takeout on a business trip here. The chicken and shrimp coconut curry, listed under the house specialties was very good. I ordered it spicy and they did a great job. It was very very good and there was a very generous portion of chicken and large shrimp in the dish. The lunch menu looked pretty good too - and affordable. I have been to this restaurant many times over the past 3 years. The food is consistently good. It is great to eat in or pick up some take out. They have a variety of Chinese and Vietnamese food on the menu. So everyone can find somthing they would like. There is also vegetarian selections. I come from a Vietnamese background and love that this place caters to family-style eating (big tables with spinning centerpieces to rotate dishes) It has mostly Vietnamese food but has Chinese influences as well. It is a big restaurant and even frequently hosts weddings. My aunt had a wedding ceremony here and service and accommodations went well. A few dishes stick out to me: - Lobster Dish ( My FAVORITE! The seasoning is delicious and you must order it!) - Thit Kho (Viet Braised Pork) - Shark Fin Soup - Ca chien (fried catfish) - Thit Nuong (Grilled Pork) There is a very big menu! The food is good. The Bo nhung Vi is the best. However, the owner doesn't appear too friendly, especially towards the Vietnamese customers who are regulars. She also has a habit of reprimanding/being harsh to her waiters/waitresses in front of customers which I consider rude and downright mean. The food is decent, but I mostly come for the Bo Nhung Vi. I just wish the owner treats her workers with more respect, especially in front of customers. This restaurant has one of the best sweet and sour fish soup I ever tasted (canh chua ca bong lau). I like to order the hotpot style instead of the bowl of soup, and it usually comes in a nice portion with a side of vermicelli. I love coming here with my hubby for a nice family meal on the weekends. I'm not a fan of their Chinese dishes, but their goi (salad) is also good. One of a few Vietnamese restaurants that's comparable to the ones back in Little Saigon, CA. I can't give this place a 5 stars because they often have too many new busboys, there are more than one occasions that we stumbled across a busboy in training and he was clueless. It took us a while to figure he was new instead of jumping to conclusion as bad service. I really enjoy this restaurant, Even though we usually order take out the inside of this place is beautiful. They have some really nice fish tanks too. The food is always packaged well for our to go orders so there is never any leaking in the bag. this have become our favorite asian take out because the quality of food is so great. The crab rangoons are made with real crab and you can definitely taste it. The soups are delish and my boyfriend always gets sweet and sour chicken. Only down fall is when you order meals they all come with white rice and there is no substituting for fried rice. Go to this place whenever we have something to celebrate or each out with my family. Really recommend the self service hot pot for the fresh spring rolls. The service is always fast, and the servers are generally happy to help explain when you want to be adventurous and try something new off their huge menu. Needless to say, that left a bad taste in my mouth and I haven't been motivated to return. Recently, I decided to give it another shot and grab lunch here with my mother. Not sure if it was just that particular day that we dined, but my goodness the place reeked of urine! You could smell it as soon as you walked through the door. I got used to the stench after a while and stopped noticing it. -_- Let's talk about the food. We ordered some rice dishes and everything was absolutely disappointing. My mother's Vietnamese cooking is better than this. We just felt like we wasted money on food that we could've eaten at home. I've given this place enough chances. Mixed feelings about this place. =/ I used to eat here a lot back then and haven't been back here for long time so I wanted to see how it was holding up. The restaurant was packed and busy. We ordered some grilled pork spring rolls for appetizers and it was good. I ordered the Banh Hoi Thit Nuong for my entree. Banh Hoi are extremely thin rice noodles woven into intricate bundles or mats and have a light and fluffy texture. The taste is kind of similar to vermicelli rice noodles. So this was topped with marinated grilled pork, fried scallions, peanuts, and scallion oil. This was good as well. Only downside is the service. Took forever to get our drinks and food. The waitress kept coming by and saying that she forgot about us. O_o Another downer is there were a lot of horse-flies flying around our table. It's kind of annoying to shoo them away while trying to eat. The food was good, but I would probably only go back if I was craving something on their menu. read more
