There are few word combinations that get me more excited than "Taco Tuesday." There are plenty Mexican & Latin cuisine eateries spread throughout Tulsa but they're not all made alike. I've heard of the highly lauded 918 Maples Tacos & Cantina many times since I moved back so I finally decided to try it on August 28th, 2025. Since then, I've experienced 918 Maples on different occasions and I'd say that it deserves the high praise. I've eaten at 918 Maples atleast 4 times, twice at the food truck (4931 S Union Ave.) and twice at this location. On 8/28, I arrived around 5:50pm. The walls are filled with color & different decorations, from murals to Latin-American art as well as TV's behind the bar for entertainment. The area is very home-like, compact, with just enough space for walking lanes. There's only one booth while the rest of the seating is either tables or at the bar. The host podium is at the door immediately upon entrance, I sat at the bar. Their menus are large but not overwhelming. On Tuesdays, tacos are $2 each. This doesn't include Birria, fish or Shrimp which are $3 or $4 on Tuesdays. My server was Diego, great guy! I ordered 5 Tacos: 2 Birria, 1 chicken 1 Carne Asada and 1 El Pastor. I also ordered a Paloma and a small queso. The meal comes with chips & Salsa, brought out immediately. Their chips are thicker and their salsa is mild. Add a little salt, good to go! I'm a fan of white queso but I particularly enjoyed theirs, worth the $2. The food came out within 10mins, not long at all. Two ramekins of salsa & 4 tacos. Each taco was amazing individually. The el pastor had crispy edges on the meat, the carne asada was soft & delicate while the birria was to DIE for. Only criticism is that the chicken was a little too salty but not terrible overall. As I mentioned, I ordered 5 tacos, queso & a Paloma but only received 4 tacos. I wasn't upset about the paloma, I could do without. But, I was a little uneasy about being shorted 1 taco, especially since I paid for 5. However, I didn't fret. I paid the bill & praised the staff because they deserve it! Since then, I've returned once or twice. Each time, usually on a Tuesday, the space is decently filled which a sign of a well-run & good quality establishment and the food is just as good. I consistently ordered tacos but I would gladly try their Queso Chicken, Rustic Quesadilla, or Birria Pizza. I've had their tacos at their food truck as well and, though the ambiance isn't comparable, the service is sweeter & the food is just as good. Bummer that their food truck doesn't do discounted tacos on Tuesdays. Photos here are from 8/26/25, 9/16/25 and 1/6/26. Bright and colorful restaurant with very clean surroundings. The service was excellent, and the food was delicious. The birria tacos were the best!The shrimp taco was not as flavorful. I don't believe they grilled the shrimp or added any spices/marinade. All the sauces were great! The rice almost stole the show, cooked perfectly. Only thing missing was Diet Coke. Today I brought a friend with me to 918 Maples for lunch. He had never been here before and this was my third visit. It was quite full but in spite of that we were greeted very quickly and seated immediately. Our server was so friendly pleasant. I ordered the sour cream chicken taco plate was fantastic. The chicken was tender and juicy, the rice was excellent and the black beans were so good. As we were finishing our meal the manager stopped by our table to say hello and ask how everything was. Situated in Tulsa's Pearl district 918 is a trendy cantina amid an aged neighborhood. We ordered the la Parrillada feast. They brought us chips and salsa as a good Mexican restaurant should. The chips were a-typical. Puffy more than flat they offered an unusual texture experience with alternating flaky and hard textures. The salsa was very thick and also atypically dark color but smooth and flavorful without the tomato forward flavor typical in salsas served commonly. We ordered the queso and found it very nice with a creamy texture and mild flavor. So so good! Will be back soon! The complimentary chips and salsa have great flavor. We started out with an order of guacamole for the table, really good! My husband and our friend had the skinny margaritas. I tasted it, was good. I had the steak fajitas and had so much left over that I probably have 2 meals worth. I had ordered the black beans with it but they also gave me some refried beans and those were so good too. My husband had the carne asada and ate it all. Our friend had the sour cream enchiladas, which she has had before and loves. Our other friend had the beef and ramen, I had a taste, loved the flavor. This place was hopping Sunday for brunch. They have brunch specific menu with fun drink options. My son wanted to try the birria pizza which was very good and so flavorful. Lots of leftovers too. I got the chilaquiles with chicken, verde sauce and they were delicious. I opted for their black beans with my meal and they were yummy too. Loved their salsa too. They have outdoor seating and a super fun and bright indoor dining option. The staff was friendly and very helpful. Loved being able to pay with QR code too. read more

There is limited street parking but at least it's free. This is a small location. We were seated quickly. We got chips and salsa quickly and our drink order was taken right away. The menu isn't huge but lots of good options. I got the carne asada which was a little fatty but good flavor. I really liked the corn tortillas. The salsa was yummy with some heat. I enjoyed my jamaica, it was refreshing. I would come back and try the tacos and try a margarita. read more

This place is fantastic. One of my favorite Mexican restaurants while on the road. This rates as one of my favorite ever. First it's a top 5 table salsa because it actually has spice!! I love it. Great homemade chips. The Appetizer Sampler is perfect and super YUMMY!! I don't normally do Apps but this one hit on every item. The Birria tacos are perfect. Big, flavorful, just get them. I found this place from an online social media influencer and decided to go and try it out and I have to say this is probably my new favorite! Their pizza was amazing!! So much flavor and it's packed full of meat. Even the sauce that comes with it to dip has so much flavor. Most places has a little bit of flavor, but this one was jampacked. They freshly bake their chips every day they are delicious nicely salted and also there's salsa to go with it was a great tasting salsa. The guacamole was a nine out of 10 which my husband really enjoyed. The place gets a little busy, but they are very quick with getting your food out. The service was really good. We've dined here at least four times. First time (soon after they opened) was a five PLUS. The last visit was about a four. Still good and I still love the place. Service was just a bit slow. There were three servers (with one primarily being the bartender) and they seemed to be trying very hard. It looked like there were a LOT of take out orders being prepared. The birria tacos were as good as ever and the salsa is great. Of the three tacos I tried, the chorizo was my favorite with the pastor coming in a close second. The asada taco was good, just not my fave. It's weird to rave about the rice but I must. They have the best rice ever. Order it as a side if you're ordering tacos ala carte. My wife was busy with something today so I took my buddy Linus (a slightly plump short red hair dachshund) to Maples. They have a great little patio right in the heart of Studio Row. The atmosphere along the row was relaxing and inviting....a great place to read and have brunch with my buddy. "We" had the breakfast burrito from the brunch menu. I would call it an elevated Mexican meal but the same price you would expect at any run of the meal Mexican restaurant. There is great care given not only to the amazing flavors but also to the presentation and service. The portion size was enough that I have a little snack for later. I would highly recommend this establishment if you enjoy a unique spin on Mexican fare. read more

the only thing worse than the food is the service! the food is over salted. the meat is of poor quality, with lots of gristle. the portion size of guacamole is absurdly small. It's SOOOO fricking loud in there- concrete floors with metal chairs, constant scooting them around plus it's tiny inside so everyone is sitting on top of each other. The service was horrible! Took forever to just get water, then it took forever for the server to take our order- she only finally came to our table after we had to get up and ask if we could order our food! I finally made it to 918 Maples and, "Caramba!"... it did not disappoint! If you're not looking for it you'd probably never find it. It's located in a trendy part of town near East 3rd and South Trenton Avenue (just south of The Church Studio). I sat inside although there was ample seating on the front patio. I was greeted within five minutes and my frosty fermented adult beverage arrived moments later along with a basket of thick crunchy chips and salsa. The salsa had a smoky flavor with a reasonable amount of heat. It was served cold but I think I might have enjoyed it more if it was served at a warmer temperature. I ordered the taco birria platter and it also arrived quickly. I got the impression that the kitchen is a well-oiled machine. There were a decent amount of people in the dining room and all were looked after. Now for the food. The tacos were incredible! Cheesy, crunchy, and savory. It was a rowdy fiesta in my face hole. The consomé had a deep rich flavor, perfect for dipping. Tacos were bigger than the tiny two-bite street tacos. The refried beans were thick and not runny. The rice was warm and fluffy and each bite reminded my of home. I'm usually a fast eater. Something I learned from my years in San Quentin (joke). But I took my time to savor every single bite. Like everyone else, we came here for the Birria Tacos! I've had some before at a different taco joint and wasn't impressed but the ones from here were amazing! The consome was so flavorful that I could sip on it as a soup! The Birria tacos came with a lot of meat and the yellow and green sauces were great compliments. The yellow was my favorite. It had a kick to it but didn't linger which I liked. The rice was the best Mexican rice I've ever had! My boyfriend got the La parrillada which came with tilapia, chicken, asada, chorizo. It came with tortillas but my boyfriend didn't want to get full too fast so he only ate the meat. Each meat was also full of flavor. The chips and salsa were also really good. wow is an understatement. they were packed due to it being Cinco de Mayo AND taco Tuesday but the service was still amazing. we got the pinarita colada (delicious) and it ended up being part of the taco tuesday deal! Cristina served us at the bar and was always on top of bringing us drinks and chip refills.
