I'm not going to say I'm bias, but since this is where my husband and I met up for our first date, I might be bias. We love this spot. I found it when he asked if there was a place I'd want to go to and I suggested somewhere in west BA because he was loving way east and I'm in Tulsa. I looked on Yelp and suggested Los Vaqueros, which just happened to already be one of his favorite places. We have come back many times together since our first meeting because the service is solid with friendly staff, the food is reliably always good, and we like hopping next door when we are done and shooting some pool. He always asks them to make shrimp quesadillas. They aren't on the menu, but they will make them and they are good! The shrimp are large and juicy. I love a lunch special when we've come for lunch (like we did for our first date), but at dinner time, I tend to lean towards the margarita chicken. Super good. A nice portion of grilled veggies, and the chicken is always moist. I like that it is pretty colorful on here. I told him that was something g that o liked when we came here on our first date. But they keep lighting lower, so it's not shockingly colorful. I just really enjoy it here! read more

Had a blast last night for Cinco de Mayo at Los Vaqueros and it did not disappoint. Even as busy as it was, we only waited maybe 15 minutes for our table. They had a live band, and Gabby the clown was making the coolest balloon yo-yos. She spent some one-on-one time with little mama showing her tricks, which made her night. Our server was 10/10, food was 10/10, and we shared the Monterey Jack steak and bacon wrapped (yes, bacon wrapped) chicken fajitas and they were MONEY. Portion size was huge too -- we still have leftovers today. The $5 margarita special was strong and tasty, and little miss even got to ride her first mechanical bull. Our family's go to Mexican restaurant. One of the best chips and salsa in Tulsa or anywhere else. Portions are plenty. I like the grilled veggies and the roasted corn as sides. The refried beans and rice are good. Great place for large family gatherings. Service is attentive and detailed. Menu is concise and not as extensive as some other places. The owner told me a couple of years ago that he trimmed down the menu after seeing how food was thrown out. They don't have any fish items. But their beef, chicken and pork items are very tasty. Great Service. Chips were crispy and fresh. Portions and prices were reasonable. We ordered White Queso, Texas Enchiladas, Kids Bean and Cheese Burrito, Fajita Enchiladas, and Cheese Quesadilla. Only giving four stars instead of five because my kiddo prefers more cheese in the bean and cheese burrito and I was missing more spice in my food. We love Los Vaqueros. We usually start with their Queso, plus chips and salsa. I like their fajitas, burritos, and enchiladias but my favorite is the queso chicken. They have a clown named Gabby that comes every Monday. She is an added bonus to dinner out on a Monday night. They are incredibly fast and wait staff is attentive. You can come at lunch or dinner. I don't always eat Mexican food in Broken Arrow, but when I do, I eat at Los Vaqueros. I have tried every taco vendor in town. I have found Las Vaqueros to be consistent with excellent service and delicious Mexican food, every visit. Better than the rest of 'em. The restaurant is nicely decorated clean and comfortable. My top choice. On our last visit I tried the Chili Colorado. It is highlighted as one of their customer favorites. I tasted why it is. Delicious thick flavorful chili with tender chunks of beef. This place is a bit of a travesty. Their food is really good. Their menu has offerings for people watching carb intake that others don't offer. That said, the service is either outstanding or horrid depending on who you get. Z and Cam are really good servers. There are a couple more who I don't remember their name. Today, though we went in during a dead time, we're seated and then ignored. The server in our area disappeared to a back room. Then I saw the hostess and another server having a conversation which appeared to be about us and the other server. Then they glanced over at us then both left our area, never acknowledging that we hadn't been spoken to since we were seated. We saw the writing on the wall and left before the experience got worse. 5 star food, low stars on the margaritas. If you love flautas, this place is for you! They are huge, stuffed with plenty of meat, and hand rolled. I can tell because they are almost identical to the homemade place I love and miss in Dallas, and I finally found a similar place in Tulsa! The salsa is spicy, but sooooo good. The white queso is delicious and a bowl is HUGE for only $2 more than a cup. The chips are thin and crispy, delicious. The fajitas are yummy with big, sliced meat pieces. The atmosphere is fun; not plain and not fancy. I went with wet hair after a pool day and never felt out of place. It's bright and vibrant. The disappointing aspect is the margaritas. The skinny margarita is made with a very tart citrus juice. It's not smooth and made me pucker even with Patron in it. I also tried a top shelf Patron rita, but it was too sweet. They told me they make their own sweet and sour mix. This is one of many places in Tulsa that needs to learn the modern way of making ritas with fresh lime juice and simple syrup so that it is much easier on your stomach and smoother to drink. Higher end Mexican places do this already. I will definitely be going back regularly to eat, but not to drink. One of the best tasting Mexican food places around Tulsa! read more

Both the owner and the assistant manager seemed more interested in asserting their authority than ensuring guests had a pleasant experience. When we raised some basic questions, we were met with a defensive tone, which added to the overall discomfort. As for the food, while it had potential, it didn't quite meet the standard I had come to expect from this place (perhaps the change in ownership had something to do with it). The service from Pebbles was the highlight. I understand that every business can have an off day, but this visit made it difficult to overlook the issues. I hope the management takes this feedback to heart and works to improve the dining experience for future patrons. We had overlooked small little table sign , choice of four lunch items . We are always in search of a yummy Mexican restaurant since it's our child's favorite food and this one made the top of the chart! The food was delicious and the beans had a wonderful smoky flavor that was outstanding! The owner, Todd even came over to introduce himself and welcome us! We have noticed Los Vaqueros going down hill for a month or so. Tonight, they got our business for the last time. I kept getting put on hold, when trying to place an order. My husband decided to go in to place the order, he was laughed at when he told them about being put on hold. When we finally received our order, it was wrong. Part of it was missing. The refried beans were so salty, the trash is the only place for them. It is sad to see a restaurant going down hill. But, the staff has decided quality food and service no longer matter. read more

We ordered take-out fajitas for dinner and were very disappointed! Chips were stale, salsa was bland, they forgot to include the flour tortillas and the refried beans were runny! We were sad to see Compadre's Mexican Restaurant leave this location a while ago, disappointed in the quality of the food when Speedy's Mexican Restaurant took over and hopeful that Los Vawueros would re-establish quality Mexican food at this location.
