So I can say this about this barbershop and they couldn't tell me I'm wrong because more then enough people have heard the stuff come out there mouths and why I feel as though it's such an uncomfortable environment. I can say for convenience I've gone here but after the last thing I heard MORE THEN ONCE I've called it quits. Let's start by saying it's a top tier establishment of sexist men. Don't be confused a woman by the name of Holly works there but not much and most definitely just "oks" them and leaves. I've heard jimmy more then once disrespect female officers and fire fighters and women in general that do "men's" jobs to them. I've heard jimmy say "tell me would you really take a female officer serious I'd mess her up in a fight" or things like "come on would you really be comfortable with a female fire fighter rescuing you?" It's sad an so embarrassing and when it matters for the boss Larry to shut it down he agrees and stands with jimmy so sad lost my business and I'm telling the most people I can about how it is there so rude and disrespectful. How about after EVERY client leaves they have to talk bad behind there back when they leave the door either about the money or who they are and all sorts of stuff. Also stop bringing your children there I've heard the worse come out of there mouths about peoples children but won't say it when they come in and do bad haircuts. I just think it's so funny how they come off one way and if your there at the right time can catch everything I'm saying from just waiting. So keep your ears open and don't be surprised if you hear these things. Wasn't a great experience but I'd say support else where. Let's not get started on the racism I've heard from the father on Saturdays. Will has been cutting my hair for a little over two years now, and he consistently outdoes himself, and is able to suggest haircuts that I didn't know I wanted. The first time Will suggested a cut to me, I was dubious, but I took a risk, and he styled my hair according to what he thought would look good. I left that day with an amazing haircut - one that is now my go to. Since then, I've tried his other suggestions, and they each have been consistently thoughtful and strong. I always go to Will when I need a cut because he always makes sure I leave The Shop with something that looks great. I have discovered that Will and I have similar music tastes, and so I often leave with shop with a quality haircut, and something new to listen too that I know I'll like. On top of the quality service, the atmosphere of the place makes the experience. All of the barbers talk about whatever, and are happy to have you jump into the conversation. Its a chill and comfortable environment, and everyone demonstrates that they want to be there. Moving from Dorchester to Cambridge is a pretty scary thing when you consider the lack of solid Barbershops in the area. I mean, they look great but lack initiative in giving you the best cut possible. Most of the shops in the Cambridge area are only concerned about getting you in and out. They barely glance over the haircut when completed to assure they didn't miss anything. Luckily, I found 968 the shop. It has been apart of my weekend for going on 2 years now and I can honestly say I look forward to my appointments. These guys are professional but also HILARIOUS!! They have incorporated a hands on way to book your appointment online which has been super convenient and effective. Especially if you book in advance and not last minute. The barbers are of course open to accommodations as long as I have been communicative and timely. Larry, Tim, Will, Pauly, Molly and "Big Larry" are all AMAZING barbers. Most importantly in my case, it's the best place to go for a Fade. Pauly in particular has given me the best fade I have ever had in my 29 years of living. Wow. How can you go wrong at 968 The Shop in Somerville. This newly renovated barber shop is clean and comfortable. Getting your haircut here is very fairly priced, especially considering how great my hair looked at the end. I've tried many barber shops in the Somerville area, and I've NEVER been as satisfied as I was heading into this shop. I felt like I'd returned to the old days where getting your haircut wasn't presented as if getting your haircut wasn't an inconvenience for the barber. The guy who cut my hair was friendly, warm, and actually made me feel like he appreciated my business. He lined me up perfectly with a straight edge, used warm shaving cream, soothing aftershave, and a cool towel at the end to top it all off. I felt refreshed, clean, and comfortable after getting my haircut. I HIGHLY recommend this barbershop over any other in Somerville. Just saw some bad review, targeted at Pauly, and after I was done laughing about how ridiculous and fabricated the review was I felt the need to leave a review of my own. I've been getting my hair cut by Pauly for the better part of four years and I've never gotten anything less than a great hair cut paired with thoughtful and perfect service. That guy Michael is bugging out and insulting the shop and it's barbers for a canceled appointment? Seems like a disrespectful and childish move to me. I never left a yelp review before but I had to hop in and say that this is one of the best shops in greater boston, not just somerville. Also, it's always clean when I come in and all the guys are accommodating and hilarious. On top of that, I never book with Pauly on Saturdays because he's always booked solid, so I have no idea why he's saying the shop is empty and the guys are unprofessional. I live just around the corner from 968 The Shop and I've been seeing their sign for a few months. I decided to stop in and give them a try and I really enjoy them. Larry is very good at haircuts, an excellent conversationalist, and the new interior is friendly (I never saw the old one though). They're definitely a local hangout place. There are almost always people hanging out waiting for haircuts, and they're a good bunch of guys. They're all friendly and most of them have the Baaaaawston drawl. Lots of them have been going to Larry and his father (also Larry) for years and years. I've definitely decided to switch over to them for most of my haircuts, and specifically this review is for Larry's last haircut for me, which was for a family wedding. Of course I finally check out The Shop a couple weeks before I move out of the neighborhood. Holli has been doing an excellent job with the hair cut. The fact that cards are an option is awesome since I don't have to make sure I hit an ATM every time I go to get a cut. Yes, they definitely recommend calling ahead, but it's not like they're asking you to schedule a month in advance. I've had no problem calling in the morning for after work (or the next day). They may sometimes get a bit behind as well, but it's the price you pay for their attention to detail (and the fact that it's so darn cheap for that level of attention to detail). Even if you have to wait a little bit, sit back, relax, and enjoy the banter (it's really entertaining). read more

Originally from Louisiana, where people take haircuts seriously, I have struggled to find barbers in Massachusetts who respect their work, have a good technique, and are consistent. Fortunately, for me, someone recommended I try 968 The Shop. I did, and I am a bonafide regular. Will cuts my hair. He is consistent, takes his time, and has an excellent technique. Will doesn't get distracted by his phone or by chatter in the shop. He focuses on my haircut and does an amazing job. This shop also takes appointments, so busy people can be in and out. I made my appointment with Larry at the Billerica new location. Wow, what a nice spot they have over there. Warm and welcoming environment, everything you look for when you go to get a cut! Larry was awesome, he told me all about the new location and the older location they also have in Somerville. I got a bald fade and a beard trim and line up. Super clean and sharp job Larry did. I've been going to Larry for 7 years. Throughout the years I've followed him to the different barber shops he's worked at, and now he has his own place. He does an exceptional job with my hair cuts. He takes his time and pays attention to detail. He does a great job listening to what my needs are. The atmosphere in the Shop is always positive and Larry is always in great spirits. All the barber shops around here are walk-in only service, but Larry's shop has the option for appointments. This process saves a lot of time for me and I don't have to wait around. Once I got settled in, I looked up barbershops in the area, tried The Shop, and have been going there ever since. It has a fun atmosphere and I always enjoy the banter between the barbers and regular patrons. There's never a visit when I don't get in a good laugh talking about sports, current events, etc. Something else worth mentioning is the online booking system. It is a convenient way to schedule your haircut a week or two ahead of time, and something that is very useful if you have a busy work schedule. I've been going to see Will at 968 the shop for haircuts for just over 2 years now and i've never been disappointed walking out of there. Will is an unbelievable barber and I have recommended several of my friends to get their haircut by him in the shop and they have always been happy as well. Easily the best barbershop around. Every barber is a perfectionist and they take a lot of pride in their craft. I've been coming here a few times a month for about 5 years and I leave satisfied every time. I refuse to go anywhere else. They have televisions next to every barbers chair where they either have sports center on or music, plenty of on street parking and at least 4 barbers in there so it's never a long wait. The guys take their time and give a great haircut. I've been to 3 barbers since moving to Somerville and these guys gave the best haircut by far, they were meticulous and did a very good job. What more could you ask for? Been there twice and got great service both times. The place has a good vibe, sports on TV guys are happy to shoot the breeze and talk Boston sports.
