Half of self check out was closed, (which seems to be permanent now) so there were only three or four available, and I couldn't self check because I had more than 15 items. There were at least eight people in each of the 2 lines, waiting. There were about 4 people shopping the aisles, yet 16 in line! It's not the employees fault, there aren't enough of them! In the evening, they lock 1 door and post a security guard at the other to be sure you get the full ghetto experience. Go to Trader Joe's across the street, better prices and plenty of employees, very happy to help you! P.S. I once bought Marie Callender's frozen chicken pot pies at VONS, and they were green and moldy. If they had employees, these might have made it back to the freezer in time!

My question had nothing to do with anything that other department specialized in. I thought to myself maybe this was just a one off. So I purchase groceries and stand back in Viridianas line to get checked out. I get to the front of the line and she frantically says "I need a minute". Not a problem, who doesn't need a minute now and then? Over the course of the next 5 minutes she kept not just me, but the entire line on hold while she counted money and frenzied through her register area looking for something she misplaced. This type of service is just rude and unprofessional. I am not the first person to opine on her poor work ethic, through Yelp and perhaps this needs to be addressed by upper management/corporate at this point. We close five minutes before every day." Seriously? Then why does your sign say you're open until 12:00 AM? What made this even worse was that as I was walking away, another man came up to the door AND THE SAME SECURITY GUARD LET HIM IN. So apparently the store wasn't actually closed. He just decided who he was going to let inside. What kind of customer service is this? If you close at 11:55, POST 11:55 AS YOUR CLOSING TIME. And if you're going to refuse entry because you're "closed," then that rule should apply to everyone, not selectively depending on who walks up to the door.
