Value too Good to Avoid I broke down and went to two stores because of the amazing Food 4 Less Independence Day sales. I bought quite a bit of fresh produce at bargain prices. Still, I couldn't find everything I wanted here so I also shopped at Albertsons. The cashier whose name started with X was really amazing. She was so fast and polite and cheerful and knew all of those produce codes by heart. I would say she was the best part of the visit besides the Rainier Cherries and Beef ribs I scored at a deep discount. There is a strong creepy factor at this location yet still I seem to be drawn back in spite of the leering at the door. I returned again last week for 2.47/lb Milanesa Steak which is a frequent sale item here. I sliced up two pieces and was able to feed my family of 3 steak teriyaki bowls for less than $5 overall. I also picked up a 2 lb bag of irregularly sized frozen shrimp for less than $8. Those two items made it worth the trip. Overall, I would recommend this as a bargain shopping destination. I fully support the other comments noted about poor customer service. I asked a general customer service question to cashier Viridiana M. and she brushed me off to go ask another department. My question had nothing to do with anything that other department specialized in. I thought to myself maybe this was just a one off. So I purchase groceries and stand back in Viridianas line to get checked out. I get to the front of the line and she frantically says "I need a minute". Not a problem, who doesn't need a minute now and then? Over the course of the next 5 minutes she kept not just me, but the entire line on hold while she counted money and frenzied through her register area looking for something she misplaced. This type of service is just rude and unprofessional. I am not the first person to opine on her poor work ethic, through Yelp and perhaps this needs to be addressed by upper management/corporate at this point. This particular location had a relatively large selection, but they didn't have one of two items I needed. My point is, you might have better luck shopping elsewhere. Honestly, this is in a sketchy area and there are transients aimlessly walking through the parking lot a various times of the day and night so, you have been warned. Inside they have everything you would need and the quality isn't bad, it's just mitigating through the lot that can be a little scary. This is a mostly Spanish speaking neighborhood and majority of the cashiers speak Spanish. I usually stop in if I need something really quick and I'm either at Marshall's or Jugos Acapulcos next door. Is it that much cheaper? For the most part, yes. I've never had an issue with cashiers or staff and found them helpful. I needed to use their restroom one time and they had to call a manager to unlock it for me in the back. Great prices this is usually my to go grocery store I have never had a problem inside the store everyone that works here are pretty helpful. I do have to admit that coming here was becoming such a drag due to all the pen-handlers it was out of control but it has gotten better I don't know if its because I started coming in the morning instead of the after noon but I do hope it continues like this because it was just scary and uncomfortable specially when I would go alone with my two kids. read more

I have to agree with the comments to the right about this store. The cashiers are rude. The store manager "Dan" that worked yesterday was rude and did not know the stores coupon policy and instead of saying that he was unaware of the policy; he tried to belittle me with a line growing behind me. I am contacting the corporate store as this is not the first time that I have been treated like this; however, this manager was really unprofessional and rude. He has no business in customer service. One problem i see is the way they handle the shopping carts; they put them in between the handicap parking and a regular parking spot, not leaving enough room for a large (handicap) vehicle to park. I started coming in here more often only because they closed my local Ralph's. Sure, this store has low prices and cashiers are nice enough, but it's dirty and unkept. There are always kids or vagrants hollering IN the store. The parking lot is a sea of people selling tamales, champurado, and elote', and beggars asking for money. Trash everywhere. The one time I braved to go in after dark, I was horrified to see a mother sit in her car playing with her phone whilst her young son skateboarded in a dark parking lot. The food is cheap. There's a ton to pick from. Parking is easy. My only issue are the people outside. Good luck trying to walk in or leave this store without someone asking for money or handing you a flyer. It's madness. It's the only part about this place I don't like. I will not buy any produce unless I am using it that day, it will not keep longer than the day you buy it! Store is usually not what you would consider clean and I wouldn't even consider using the bathrooms! Staff is generally unpleasant. I have had to return meat department chicken and beef because it was bad (purchased before expiration date). I bought each item on sale, each at a different time. I love this Food 4 Less. My favorite thing about it is that it's always clean & it's nearby my school. So shopping after class is a breeze All the produce is fresh and clean. The main reason I come here is because the tomatoes are red & juicy. Avoid coming in the weekends because the lines are long especially at night but they always have the express lane open so that is a plus. I will keep shopping at Food 4 Less. Great store! read more

Unorganized, filthy, VERY LOW QUALITY PRODUCE. My family and I usually go to this Food 4 Less because it's right next to the house, but myself and husband dread our visits. We have experienced many shady encounters in the late evening while at this Food 4 Less, one of which a 'security guard' flashed a light right at us for no reason- (we had already paid and had bags.) Even though we come here often, we still have trouble finding some items. Today when we asked where the foil was, we were told the wrong aisle *confidently* by an employee. I just stopped in the store to pick up one item, so I was in and out. But it was a really cool experience tonight. As I was checking out there was a man that was in front of me, and I could tell he was very financially challenged. After he paid for his items with his EBT card, he went to his side of the food conveyor belt to start loading his things into a bag. Thean asked for a bag. The checker at the cashier said, "well we don't have any bags, not unless you want to buy one of these". She was referring to the reusable bags, but they cost money. He sadly replied to her, "well then I guess I'm going to have to make 5 trips". I said to the cashier how much are those releasable bags right there? She says $0.99. I live near this market so it is convinent to go there ofen. I have been having a few problems the last few times that I have gone. The first was I bought Chesse that was in the refriderated section take it home and it is really bad. Was super sour. So I am assuming it was out then they put it back, IT wasnt even expired. FRUSTRATING. The next time I went i Bought Sour cream that was also in the fridge section, take it home and it was super lumpy, Disgusting.
