I've been going to this 99 Cent Only store probably since 2007 when I came to Arizona to help my mother out after she had a heart attack. I've been shopping here off and on to pick up supplies whenever I was in town since then. Because there are 99 Cent Stores where I live I am familiar with them and therefore have a pretty good idea what they carry and where it's located in the store. They all have the same layout pretty much. Some of the merchandise they carry is made in China, off brand stuff but a lot of is name brand stuff that just happens to be close to expiration dates or perhaps in packaging that has been discontinued like a cereal in a Christmasy box or something. I actually prefer shopping in this store over shopping in regular grocery stores because it seems easier to find things even though they occasionally don't have specific items that need or specific brands. And I never have to analyze and compare prices between brands because everything is the same. I wish the stores were in more states because I miss this store when I'm in the midwest traveling or even in Texas visiting my daughter. Dollar Tree does the job but doesn't have nearly the selection that I find in the 99 cent only stores. Especially when I'm traveling, it's nice to shop in these stores to pick up inexpensive necessities like toilet paper, Kleenex, small containers of laundry supplies, paper towels, shampoo and conditioner, soap, hand sanitizer Etc. They get some decent fruits and vegetables too. This is about the only store I buy blueberries in because they can be so expensive at other stores. They now carry a few things for $1.99 and $2.99 which has caught me off-guard a couple times and I paid more than I thought but 99% of their merchandise is still in the $0.99 range and the things that are a dollar or two more are usually worth it if it's something I need. read more

My previous experience in the store was "99 Cents"... meaning every item they carried was pretty much 99 cents. They have a ton of items and have expanded over the years, but I rarely come in as other competitors are nearby and more convenient. I knew they had a wide selection of items so I decided to come in and grab about 6 things... My total at the register was $17... I was like wait, what.... Ohhhhhhhh.... Yeah, I was "that guy" in line. After I looked at the screen I told him he can remove 2 things as they were $4.99. Not what I expected. I'll stick to the "DOLLAR" Store. It wasn't that I couldnt pay for it, but if I'm going to spend more than $1, I'm expecting a better quality product and that was definitely not the case. Well, it's finally happened. The $.99 store is going out of business. I noticed several years back that their candy selection started going downhill and figured it was just a matter of time. This store used to be a hidden gem but it's slowly been lacking. The prices are barely labeled on the shelf so much so I had to download the app to show with so I can price scan everything before putting in my cart. I still do find that there's a lot value here but the cleanliness of the store is terrible even in the produce and fridge. read more

I purchased a handful of items yesterday and every single item cost $1.99 or more. These items were not advertised as costing more than $0.99. Such a scam. I miss the 99¢ pricing, I liked walking in, and having a standard price, but I really don't mind the new items either. They had exactly what I wanted, in the right quantity, and the small extra price wasn't horrible. I like the new shelves, and the staff was pretty nice as well. read more

This is probably one of the tidiest and least annoying dollar stores I've been to. However, you really need to know what you went there for, otherwise you will blow your money on some really low quality stuff. I would never buy the produce there, it looked a bit gross.. The staff barely acknowledge that you're there, even at the check out.. very cold and distant. I did get a bunch of things there though, like some sunglasses that were very cheap (I only buy cheap sunglasses because I lose them as fast as I can buy them). There are some great bargains to be had here, but you have to be a very discerning shopper that knows how to compare prices between different stores and can spot poor quality items. read more

Vegetables come in old and are left in the back room for hours , all the frozen and deli have been sitting in the stock room for hours before you buy it. They don't was there hands. There's a lot of hidden gems to be found here. You just need to be the kind of shopper that knows what to buy and what not to buy at this store. It's an "it is what it is" situation. Don't come in here with delusions that every product is a winner. From time to time, they'll have toys in here that are $6.99 at Target and ToysRUs. In those instances, I'll get one of each kind for my kids. It's a great feeling to walk into a place and know that you can totally afford everything in there. Haha! read more

They have some sunglasses that seriously lasted a trip through the Salt River on a day trip. This is also after being dashed on some rocks. That was the purpose of our trip, to purchase items that we did not mind getting ruined. I also picked up some Marilyn Monroe sandals that are still in use as we speak and the graphic has not come off yet! YAY I do not think I would purchase their produce or other fresh items. I know stores like Food City gets lower quality produce than say Safeway or Sprouts, so I can only imagine what kind of quality the .99 store receives. Besides it did not look very good anyway, everything looked old. They have tons of sauces and boxed food items. Aluminum balloons blown up are only a dollar each so you can give someone a bouquet of balloons for $10 and they are nice just like the regular store. I came here to pick up supplies to make candy and rose leis for my sister's high school graduation. I made everything for under $15, which included: two candy leis with really good candy, ribbon, clear cellophane wrap, Disney rattles and silk roses. She was the envy of everyone. They had a wide selection of cards, wrapping paper, ribbon and tissue paper. The store seemed organized so I will visit again. read more

This store has A LOT of stuff and lately, they changed the stores stuff with taller and bigger aisles. Undecided whether I like this or not, but I don't know where hardly anything is anymore. I guess they did this so they could have more items to sells. The floors need to be stripped and redone as it makes the store look trashy. They moved the registers, which is not a big deal, but sometimes I wished that during busier times, they would have more cashiers. That is my main complaint, usually not enough cashiers. There have been a few cashiers that are not too customer service friendly, but the last time I went in a few days ago, there was a new cashier and she was super friendly. Usually going to the Dollar Tree or the 99 Cents Only stores, we don't get real friendly people, but it might be because they may not be getting paid much or something. Anyway, they have a huge selection of stuff from food, to car things, to school supplies, to kitchen and different housewares, toiletries, etc. Just don't expect great customer service. read more

I'm kind of surprised that this place only has a 3.5 star rating overall. It's such a great little discount store! I started coming here this year, since I am fairly new to the Chandler area, but each of my experiences have been positive. They have loads of Christmas decorations in time for the season, which is great, because, who doesn't love Christmas decorations for a dollar?! I also enjoy coming here to pick up little items, like tape or wrapping paper for gifts. I don't ever buy food from here so I can't say anything about that...but on behalf of the other products, I give it a thumbs up because they really do offer a lot for such a cheap price. read more

DO NOT SHOP HERE! The employees are RUDE!! I just had back surgery and dropped and item and could not pick it up even though I tried this rude employee comes up to me and shoves me and says next time you drop something pick it up! Then I told her I tried and was starting to explain I had back surgery she started screaming and calling me a liar. I worked for retail for many years and picked up after customers.
