Used to be great but in the last year or two they've gone downhill. Zero customer service. Long lines at the self check. God forbid you need help it's like you're ruining their day. I don't keno what happened to all the friendly staff - if they're still there I never see them anymore. Shelves often empty. Previously overheard staff complaining another customers. Every single time I go in the store the older lady that is at the register for Monday through Friday glares at me doesn't say a word and proceeds to watch me throughout the store! If I could give zero stars, I would. I was there 2 weeks ago was verbally assaulted and bullied multiple times by the manager Jillian and her employee Charlene . I was in the self check out line and I scanned a weekly planner that said Blessed on it , which rang up on sale for 1 penny. I went to grab a few more planner when the manager Jillian rudely took it out of my hands and my check out bag and said I can't sell this to you. I said no problem, how much can you sell the weekly planner's as the other ones are $1.25 ? Jillian the manager yelled at me and said I told you ..I can't sell it to you and walked away and called me a Fucking Bitch as she walked away. I was shocked as there were 15 customers in line who all witnessed this behavior from a manager at the Dollar Tree . Jillian the manager then continued to glare at me for five minutes with her arms crossed like she wanted to kill me , while my friend was checking out her school supplies. I ignored her calmly as I thought she was crazy. Jillian said I'm going to lose my job today because of this Bitch in front of my face to her employee Charlene standing next to her at the closed register #2 . I said you do not need to swear at me and be so rude. I never raised my voice nor swore at you . Five minutes ago I tried to pay a reasonable price and you refused to sell me the weekly planner that I needed . I deserve a refund too , as I scanned the weekly planner, which you grabbed from my check out bag. The manager Jillian said to her employee Charlene, "give that Fucking Bitch her penny refund. " Charlene her employee then grabbed the penny looked me straight in the eye, and rudely dropped the penny 3 feet away from me ..So I had to pick it up! I have never been treated so poorly . Three customers left because of the manager and one customer spoke up and said to the manager Jillian " Why don't you stop fighting and swearing at the customers and do your job by opening another line so we can check out?!" Jillian refused to open another line, and glared at me instead at the register #2 next to me , continued bullying me yelling loudly, " not in my store, the customer is not always right! " I said I'll pray for you and what is your name ? Jillian said let me spell it out .. J I L L I A N and then I left . I will never go back to Dollar Tree in Gilbert, AZ. As you will be bullied and harassed and treated like shit by the staff and management. Terrible management and service. This is my go-to dollar tree, it's one of the biggest and more organized stores in the East valley and I've been coming here for years!! Recently, I had a basket FULL of Easter and school donations. I spent over an hour in the store gathering items needed and not one employee in sight while I was shopping. I had a list, a day off, and I had prepared for all the things I needed for this trip. Not me thinking I would be able to go to an open register with all of this stuff, none were open. My option was self check out and all of a sudden there's 3 employees standing around, one of which was the manager. She had the NERVE to stand there and watch me scan my items like I was some thief trying to steal my entire cart of crap. I scanned maybe 5-6 items and she comes over to ask me if I scanned my baskets.... Now here I am doing their job for them but let's go ahead and check if I scanned those items you watched me scan. I was heated, if these associates are so concerned with what we are scanning, open up those registers and do your job! DO NOT stand there and watch me scan my entire cart of items so you can make sure your inventory is safe. This was by far the worst experience I have ever had at any retail store, never have I felt so accused of something I hadn't done. Instead of watching my every move, help me! Instead of standing there to make sure I get every little thing, do it yourself! It's a shame that people who pay hundreds of dollars to a store can't just shop without accusatory stares. I don't think I will be visiting this store any time soon, this experience has left me with a bad taste and I think another location might be the best option due to the poor management and staff that work here. She was an old, ugly, obese woman and accused me of walking in with the items even though I handed her my receipt to avoid any idiocy displays. She still went full idiot. After she finally gave me a plastic bag an old fat manager yelled at me he'd call police on me if I didn't leave which I was already doing after getting a bag. I gave this Dollar Tree five stars because of the amazing people that work here. Stephanie was so helpful and cheerful; she is also a schoolteacher that works at Dollar Tree on the weekends. I love to support businesses like this. They are well-stocked and helpful when you need it. I also like that they open at 8 AM. This store is great for party supplies, things that are going to be thrown away anyway. When I first discovered this store, I thought I'd never shop anywhere else again. A dollar laundry detergent, are you freaking serious? SCORE! Well, after washing with the $1 detergent, my clothes actually smelled horribly, it was gross, I had to rewash my clothes with Tide. Toothpaste, again, it was like my teeth were dirtier after brushing. I bought a few water bottles, they all broke the first day I took them out of the house. I made a mental note that they had $1 pregnancy tests but after my experience with their products, who knows what type of fiasco could come from using one of their tests. I was charged twice for an item. Called the store and the cashier who rang me up said they don't do refunds. Asked to speak with the manager, he stated the same thing. He finally gave in stating he'd give a refund but was really angry about it. The manager was an older man... When I came in for the refund I heard him call me a name to the cashier. He was also very rude and upset about giving me a $1 refund. He stated angrily "we don't usually do this!!!" I thought to myself, "do you normally charge your customers twice for an item they didn't purchase?" I know it was just $1 but it's the principle of the matter. I'm considering going to corporate about this. I don't deserve to be called a name and to be treated like I did something wrong just because I requested a refund for an item I was charged for that I never purchased. read more

Had to return defective rectangular pegboard by Creatively Organized Jot. The edge was missing. Brought into the store. No one up front. Mgr in the aisle in the back. I mentioned I had a return; she wasn't happy already being disturbed. TOLD me to come to register up front. I was trying to explain that it was broken in the package and she cut me off and said, "we don't take back open packages". I tried to again tell her it was defective and she said, "if you would let me finish, I am telling you can't return open packages". She was almost gleeful about it. How rude is that! I was finally able to tell her it was broken and she said I could exchange it for another of the same. I questioned why I just couldn't get something else in the store. Said, "You Can't". I asked where on the receipt it says that and she couldn't show me because it doesn't say that. I have bought at least $40 worth of this system for my craft room and another piece I had bought was also defective. It happens; it was a great system and I love it. Had no problem returning that to another store. I told her that and she said they were doing it wrong. I wanted to buy fall items on this trip but she was so rude, I just wanted to get out of there. Exchanged it for the SAME piece and she tossed the broken one back to me. I have never been treated this rudely at any Dollar Tree. Most employees are fantastic. I went to this dollar tree on Sunday June 19. When I was there, the manager Stepahanie was so amazing! She helped me out with the items that I was looking for and was so cheerful. She was an outgoing person and loved to make conversation with customers. I don't go here often, but every time I do visit there are quite a few people in this store. I hope this is not just me, but there is something satisfying about walking down the aisles at a dollar store, looking at a lot of crap that you probably don't need but think you do, "just in case" (insert scenario) happens. Now, I guess it isn't fair to say that everything is crap, because they do have some awesome things like a huge variety of gift bags, party decorations, and craft projects. Well, that is true for some things, but there are definitely some great deals to be found! As other reviewers have mentioned, this store has a great selection of party supplies, decorations, gift bags and wrapping. They have a good selection of greeting cards as well, and priced at 2/$1, you really can't go wrong. Recently, I've been making "sensory" games and toys for my 1 year old, and the Dollar Tree is a great place to find things for these kinds of games and crafts, including pipe cleaners, pom pom puffs, and felt. I was at dollar s an hour before closing and buying 2 things at the only reigister open i pay and it tells me to wait for cashier there is a long line behind me we are waiting for about 5 mins not a single employee in the store finnaly a employee comes out disregards that there is a line and a person waiting for a cashier so i go and find him he asks me to speak up so i repeat myself about 4 times he still doesn't understand and is being very rude about it i finnaly get him to come over and he tells me i have to pay even tho i already have and he is still being incredibly rude keep in mind i'm a teenage girl i have don nothing wrong i'm buying 2 things and he's telling me i have to pay when i already did and being very rude with his motions and everyone in line can tell how rude he was being so he leaves before even fixing it and i get it working and get my receipt and leave. My son just loves this place. Weird that he'd ask to come here everytime we go grocery shopping (bribe) and not even care to go to Toys R Us. Not complaining. I'm not into little knick knacks, but they have quite a selection on little travel toys, educational materials for kids and holiday stuff. I bought a couple of red bows with brass jingles on it and wreaths to put on my porch lights for $4! Why is it that it's so cheap, but you can end up spending $50? read more

This is one of the best Dollar Tree locations around. It's bigger than many other ones with more selection and very organized and clean. Staff is super friendly as well. This is pretty much the standard for Dollar Tree stores and I really don't think I've ever been to one that deserves less than the best ratings so that tells me something. Everything is a dollar, so that's awesome. The selection is actually very good for... well you know, things that only cost a dollar. Sometimes they even have name brand closeout items depending on the store you visit, which is awesome! There is nothing I haven't been able to find at a Dollar Tree, in fact - I'm the weird one spending $75.00 a trip. If you haven't been to this store, check it out for sure! read more
