12/1/21 I try not to visit this brand as not everything is 99 cents as advertised. Quality/Quantity - You get what you pay for. That would apply better if everything was actually 99 cents. Glad you guys almost had what I wanted. I wanted LED night lights that your competitor sells (2 locations were out of stock) but I settled for your 4 watt incandescent night lights; this is the reason you guys earned 3 stars. Atmosphere - Normal for a dollar store. Service - I don't expect much, even when the employee gave me the wrong aisle for my night light on the very opposite side of the store, I did not get mad. Sadly, this is just how it is... Price - ???? Be nice if they went back to 99 cents only for each item. If not, please change your name to the suggestion. My go to place for items that I may use once or twice so the 99 cent pricing is perfect. There are many items that are not 99 cents so be sure to look for the price tag in case it is more than $1. It can be a hit or miss on how well stocked the store is. Also, it's best to go during off peak hours as the check out lines can get long. It's no fun to checkout either a few items but the person in front of you has a full cart. read more

I'm SO sorry but I do not like this store except to purchase items in a hurry. From the terrible congested location near Hobby Lobby and the old Bangkok it's always tricky, to the awful parking lot, and then right down to the lines of people in the store. I will say that the employees are super helpful (an employee helped me find balloons). I can't speak matter-of-factly though because I have only been in here two or three times. Each time has just left me feeling really weirded out. Nothing super bad about anyone or anything. This last time was super odd, when I checked out the cashier had a friend hanging out with her (who clearly did not work there because of her attire and multiple dirty shopping bags in hand if you know what I mean). Anyways, she was helping bag items for the cashier with her bags and belongings in hand. She clearly lives on the streets. Not sure if her girlfriend was gonna pay her part of her hourly wage, who knows. I am just sub-par to dollar stores because I usually find items for less at other stores, like Winco or Walmart. Items that are under $1. For example, a candy bar in this store is $1 but at Target or Smith's they might be 4 for a $1. Think about it. People are often misled by the sound of a glorious dollar store when in reality they end up spending more. Take it from me, I am a huge coupon-er and thrifty person in general who seems to memorize prices from all the stores. I only came here to get birthday decorations for someone at work on a whim. The other time was for Christmas decorations for a competition at work. Lastly, another thing that turns me off is the produce and food being sold at stores such as 'dollar stores'. I had a friend back in the day who swore by the cheap prices of the produce this store has to offer. She would sometimes bring me a banana at work that she bought from here and it was not your normal Dole or Chiquita, this was an unknown name and I always had to secretly throw it out, something wasn't right about it. If you look at the stickers on the produce and/or where the food is coming from on the packages in the frozen section, this will tell you. And if it's NOT from the great U S of A or another common country that supplies food to us here in America, please do not eat it. read more

The absolute best! A must for shopping and getting great deals and affordable items. They have everything Walmart has at a much lower price. They do up price certain items way above 99 Cents, but if you know the going prices on things you can cut your grocery bill in half. They have fresh vegetables, a freezer, non food items, and a big variety of food as well. I see no reason to shop elsewhere. read more

I love this store, I shop there a lot. Yes some things are more than 99 cents; if you compare them to other stores you are still getting a very good deal. Sometimes the lines are long ( we all decide to shop at the same time ) , but i noticed that as soon as the lines start getting long they call for backup and they open more registers. I have seen the manager ( I was told her name is Melisa ) many, many times open another register to help bring the lines down and take care of the customers as soon as possible. I have been to other store were the manager just stands around and not help when is busy; that is not the case here. Thank you Melisa for providing great customer service, I hope corporate sees this and keeps you working for them forever. Also thank your staff they are all very friendly. One of my favorite spots to stop at when I am in town. . This stop is usually for the last min stuff that I forgot to pack or need at the moment. . This store is fun for my boredom to go browse and shop at if I'm tired of gambling. Somewhere i can walk to and clear my mind. . 99 cents store is one of my favorite stores to go to when I want to be creative and find stuff to make for special occasions. . This store is clean and everything is well organized. The people here are nice and like to make conversations while ringing up. . There are plenty of parking, lots of it so no worries. . There is also a bus stop like across the street so if you take a bus your good to go to. . Overall this location is right across the mall . I LOVE this 99 cent store. Not to sound like a total weirdo, but I've been to every location in Nevada. This one is the best by far! It's very clean and the staff here are mega nice. They always have the BEST inventory. It changes often but when it comes to home decor and snacks, this place takes the cake. There is a guy who I think is the shift lead, Sean, is the nicest person and always makes coming here worth the visit! But the rest of the staff are always really bubbly and fun to talk to. People that shop here are also nice I've noticed. If you need cheap home decor this should be your first stop. They also have good alternative milk, and herbs! read more

I love stopping by here before heading to the groceries stores. I can usually get most of the groceries, produce, frozen food and drinks here for 99 cents. One most days you can find name brand items and it's like hitting a jackpot when I do. If, you are on a budget this is the place to shop. I like shopping early in the morning or later in the evening. Compared with other 99 Cent Only Stores, this one is okay. If you get there early in the morning, you do not have to fight to find a parking spot nor try and fight your way down an isle. The best time of day to shop here is early in the morning (9:00 AM). The lines to check out and pay for your great finds are small to nothing! But, if you want selection, take a day trip to Sacto area. The 99 Cent Only Stores there have a much larger selection in the same amount of room. They also have a booze (wine/beer) section (Sacramento). Their booze section will never entice you with brand names, but you may accidentally stumble upon a tasty beverage for a buck! I will say based off of the reviews after visiting this place I was slightly disappointed. Yes, they have a variety of items, however the store is not very well attended too. The produce looked very poorly maintained and everything else in the store seemed out of place. If you are lucky to find a hidden gem in this store it's because you have taken the time to fumble thru what looks like a bunch of junk. It is about the Toilet. Never been in here before and good god what a mess. debris all over the place, no tissue and even it there was no place to place it as everything is broken. wet filthy floor, filthy toilet, filthy sink and the walls were disgusting. Rude cashier named Britney working there on Tuesday. She acted as though ringing me up had really put her out of her way! She complained about putting items in a bag and then said hold this and handed me some of my items and didn't bother to get a bag for them. After the sale was rung she says oh is that yours too pointing to a box of Kleenex, that's a dollar 8 she snapped so I gave her one dollar and a dime. Then she yelled your change! This is one of those places that has a very interesting clientele, similar to what you would see on the people of W mart pages. It pays to know normal retail store prices to know if you are getting a good deal or not, some items are off brands that cost more than one you would find at a regular retail store. As with the Dollar Tree, the more I shop here the more I've warmed up to the place. They have some really noteworthy regular deals: - 99 cent bread loaves. Probably not much better quality than the Wonder clones that 99 cents will get you anywhere else, but at least they try to be more interesting with sourdough, rye, Russian, french rolls and loaves, etc. As a vehicle to deliver Sammich to your Mouf they are perfectly fine - 70 to 85% cocoa full-size choco bars for a buck pretty frequently - Produce appears to come from California and Washington farms (like the apple bags for $1) so I'm not too ascared of eating it. They seem to be getting a better selection over time too, like now they regularly have bags of baby spinach for $1. - Granny Goose snacks. Wow. The produce section is quite impressive from a Hawaiian resident's point of view. For the price & selection (ie. 6 different varieties of tomatoes to choose from. Even heirloom purple ones!) Out of all the dollar stores(and there are many) The 99 Cent Store is the best. Home based in Southern California, there is only one in Northern Nevada(Reno). However, whispers through Carson City, have a 99 Cents Store coming to the Capital City. Where and when? I don't know. The 99 Cent store(if you have never been) has everything you could possible need, plus a great grocery aisle. The food is high quality. And the stores are always stocked highly. Imagine you only have thirty dollars. And you need a weeks worth of food. This place is your solution. I know not everything is 99¢ but the selection is impressive. The breads are fresh. The meat is great. You can even buy milk and cheese here. For 18 dollars today I brought home 4 bags of food. The store is clean and the staff will go out of there way to help you. I like this location because it's right across the street from where I work. This store always seems to have a great selection to choose from. I like to kill time there when I'm a little early for work. My only complaint is checking out. It always gets busy at the same time of day, yet they never seem to have enough cashiers. Kinda irritating to drive 9 miles to a store that is supposed to be open still and they are closed. I have been patronizing NNCOS for many years and found them to be diverse: some are great, i.e., clean, well-stocked and well-staffed, while others are... not so much. Just like many other businesses. This particular outlet is one of 2 in the Reno area. The produce here is fresher than some Walmarts, and the store is much cleaner than others of its type. The staff are what you would expect, very blue-collar with no sense of the ironic. But if you want banter, go to Target. There is a very nice selection of several genre, including Canned Fruit, Meats & Fish; Chips; Refrigerated Items and Prepared Items, such as soups. There is a bus stop right outside the store, and another one across the street, as is the Meadowwood Mall, making this a very convenient location. read more

Reall?!?!, fresh produce like English cucumbers, large yellow squash, zucchini, assorted artisan lettuce, 3 types of organic berries, tomotillos, onions, and an odd find like a fresh coconut!!!! I walked into this store to find a little item to make a tip jar out of and found so much more than expecting!!! The fresh produce there is what looked to amazing (not all organic) but still a very good option for those trying to be healthy. I didn't get to walk down the grocery isles because I'm sure I just would of bought anything that looked appealing, cause hey, it's only 99 cents right?!?! Growing up in Southern California 99 Cent Stores are everywhere. Went to this one because I needed some cheap things. They had a lot of organic canned food! Overall this place was clean,well organized, and it wasn't too crowded. I do agree that they could use more workers at the registers. I've noticed that's how it is at all locations. I come here very often and usually find what I'm looking for. The store has gotten better in its layout, but still wish it offered better quality items. When they do offer good items, it doesn't last very long. The customer service is also lacking. The cashiers don't greet you or talk much at checkout. I like this place better than the dollar tree because they have a frozen food section and produce granted its not greatest but it still good when you in a pinch and need lettuce or some fruit or some little frozen things. I think they have a better variety of products all around. My husband and I come here over the dollar tree now. We are fans of this place and usually get out pretty quickly too. They have a great variety of things for cheap Some things aren't actually 99 cents, but they are very few, and for the most part, they're clearly marked so you're not surprised at the register. You have to be a careful consumer to know if 99 cents is actually a good deal. For example, a box of Swiss Miss Hot Chocolate is 99 cents, right? The thing is, it's only a 6 pack. You can get a box of 10 at Target for $1.19. Also, the canned goods, which are mostly off-brand are 99 cents; however, the cans are smaller than usual. I've seen counterparts at Winco, which are in full sized cans, for less money. I suck down so much Splenda that I'm bound to sprout a tumor any minute, and their price is the best anywhere. It is a generic brand, but it tastes exactly the same and the ingredients are the exact same. Good deals can be had in the refrigerated section, but there are a lot of off-brands, and highly processed items. I bought hot dog buns here once and they were stale. They have a great selection of produce and there are definitely good deals to be had here; as long as you don't care about organic and all that biz. 99 cent bags of oranges, potatoes, sweet potatoes, lettuce, radishes. I've gotten fresher cucumbers at Winco for less money. Bandages, gauze, ointments can't be beat. I'd check there first. Amazing selection of cleaning supplies, gift bags and wrapping paper. 4 stars for the false good deals, and they never have enough checkers, so the lines take forever to get through. There's not enough cart wrangling either; I've seen like 4 in the cue and carts everywhere in the parking lot. Definitely check it out. Great deals can be had if shop savvily. read more

I left my iPad in the store. I returned an hour later to be told they had recovered my iPad and had it locked up. That I wouldn't be able to get it back until the morning. Well I work from 6am-6pm and wasn't able to get back to the store until about 630. When I got back I was told that it was locked up again and I couldn't get it back until the next morning and they would not give it back to me without proof that the iPad belonged to me. I use my iPad for work and couldn't go another day without it. I made an uproar and left and 30 mins later received a call from a lady named Roberta. She said I needed proof it was mine, I gave her the information about the case it was in that there was no passcode to unlock it and the storage amount of the ipad. She told me that would not suffice and that she needed my Apple ID and Password. With that being an absolute absurd demand I played ball because they had my very expensive piece of equipment and changed my password and gave them the new code. When she opened the iPad and opened it using the keyboard on the case I already told her it had in detail. And she told me it came up to a white screen asking for an apple ID. Anyone who uses apple products knows that means it was reset. So someone in that store reset it and now they refuse to give it back to me they refused to give it to my sister. They completely are trying to steal my iPad. This organization is ran super shady and I highly recommend everyone staying far far away from it. I will post what happens and if they return it or not. The fact that I have given then detailed information about the case the storage size and the fact that I even called asking for it should be enough, they have on camera me leaving it there and still will not give me my iPad. I will be contacting corporate and going to the top as now I will more than likely losing my job as tomorrow I wont have the equipment to do the job for the second day in a row. read more

I love getting things for a discount, but the fresh & frozen items at this location...beware. I passed the potatoes which were just beginning to rot and were very unpleasantly fragrant, all produce was ready for the bin, all bread was within a couple days of expiring (some a little bit moldy), and a lot of the frozen foods were within a week of expiring as well. I have had quick, pleasant chit chat with employees, and come across some especially impolite ones. The few times I have visited this location, it was close to close-down, but there's usually been open packages, broken things, lack of organization/facing, dumpster divers (come on guys...at least go for Dollar Tree)...but regardless, I do like 99 Cents Only as a whole.
