So I would have given this place a better rating because they have a huge selection of unique Mediterranean items with very cool prices but it turned into a bit of a fiasco. I thought I would check them out for fun. It was fun and i am trying new things which is great. I did notice the total was a bit higher than i thought but have been dealing with migraine and neck pain so figured I must have made the mistake. I went to take a picture of the receipt for fetch and noticed i was overcharged for seeds. They were supposed to be biy two get two free. Which means i was overcharged about five bucks. I went back and he said he couldn't refund me but i could pick some things of equal value but he came up with 4.50 which is wrong but my pain is pounding so whatever. I picked a candy that was 4 but that left 50 cents he would admit to really a dollar and i don't want to spend more because of their mistake. Then i said forget it you get my fifty cents and he pulled it out of the drawer finally so i was only ripped off fifty cents and my time and frustration. They are a nice store but pay attention or they will rip you off maybe on purpose (debatable). Will not be back as prices are not all vlear and customer service sucks. Can't do refunds when they ripped me off ridiculous. read more

This place is a hidden gem among all the larger store in Reno and sparks area I would recommend giving it a visit your self because every time I come in they have new stuff and it's super affordable. That's awesome considering how expensive everything is they have hard to find spices blankets vases toys party supplies cookware gifts chips form other country's they also have a huge selection of Indian Chinese and Mexican food and products it's amazing the amount of stuff they have they also make shirts did I mention they also have a fresh orange juice machine that makes juice in front of you they staff are also friendly there is way more that I could talk about but I would recommend going in your self you will not be disappointed I promise you!!! Had a friend from work tell me they have the biggest selection of Indian pantry items and her preferred place to shop. They had a great selection of Indian snacks, candies, spices, frozen pre-made sauces, frozen meals. They didn't just have Indian items but also a huge isle of Ramen noodles, Mexican candies in bulk, fabric, toiletries, clothes, gifts, toys, home accents, cool dishware. This place could really be considered an ethic general store with a liquor license. Prices were very reasonable. Have fun and get lost for an hour looking at all the interesting and great items that they carry. Service was friendly too. read more

This was a pretty good store. They had a lot of brand name stuff that the other local dollar store used to carry but no longer does. That was nice. Also, I found some electronic stuff that the other local dollar store used to carry, but no longer does. Like 7-foot ethernet cables. I have to give kudos to at least one staff member. I was looking for those sewing kits and didn't know where to look. Even though they were slammed on opening day she spent a good long time looking for them. Turns out they didnt' have them. But I would not have known. The best deal was probably the 30-ounce bags of Swedish fish candy. I bought four of those for the office candy pool. They have a deli and fresh fruit section, but I didn't spend time there. If they can keep up the improved selection, they'll have my business. And would probably deserve an upgrade to four stars. read more

Always fun to stop in and see what cool bargains are available as well as to pick up a few products which are limited sourced, such as Carey salsas. This is my favorite resource for cleaning implements such as scrub brushes and dish sponges as well as a few personal grooming items (back scrubbers, face scrubbers, etc.) These are items that I used to buy at places such as Target for 3-4 times the price. So, I make it a habit to stop in at least once a month to stock up on my list of "get it at the 99 Cents Only Store. read more

Good selection and it was pretty clean and organized when I went. While there are a lot of 99¢ items, I would say most are actually over 99¢. I'm ok with a few items being I've $1, but I would guess 60% were actually over 99¢. Everything I wanted was $2-3 so I ended up going to Dollar Tree. read more

Some may see this place for cheap low budget people, or low class families but would you believe it, the produce you find here could be fresher than those found in retail chains stores. I pop in from time to time, only mostly for old childhood candies that other places do not carry no more. I have no objection to pricing many items in multiples of $.99. This is what will keep this store around. When perishable items are brought in (often in small quantity) more of an effort should be made to properly price these items. Produce is displayed in a free standing refrigerated case with no pricing or $.99 pricing. When you arrive at the register...surprise! If you want to charge $1.99 or $2.99 the employees should be trained to make sure signage reflects the proper price. Not doing so could attract attention from state consumer protection authorities. read more

Management at this store was very, very rude. We tried to buy Iced Tea that was clearly marked at .49 and the manager (who we must have interrupted from a break because she came out picking her teeth) would only honor ONE of them at that price and was going to charge us .99 for the remaining 5!!! We took a picture of the sign and she still would NOT honor that price because she was, "going to go change it RIGHT NOW!!!" Well, good customer service would have been to honor ALL 6 of them at .49 and then go change it...because she didn't even check if the computer was wrong? They had a black Friday special for full sized Christmas trees for first 100 customers in line, my mom and I got there fairly early at 5am but we were still about number 80 in line. And what the store didn't tell you was they had reserved about 50 or so trees for their own family and friends so most customers didn't get one. What a low class shameful business practice, most businesses exclude family members for promotion and contest for a good reason. So yes thanks for wasting our entire morning. Needless to say my family doesn't shop there anymore. Yes sure I have a personal gripe but think about it, do you want to do business with a store that cheats it's customers? read more

Need help very slow at checkout understaffed people do a good job just not enough of them

Ok this store is a lot bigger then the one in Reno by the mall and that is a plus! I am a fan of it being clean too! This is way better then the other dollar store that seems to have a lot more of junk items. The staff was ok but thats what you get when you have young people that only care about what they did last night and stand around talking to each other. Where customer service means nothing and this is just what brings home the money so they can have something to talk about tomorrow with another line of customers. It gets 4 stars for the items they sell. read more

Missed this place! On a recent trip to Reno from Sioux Falls, I made sure I took a nice picture to tease my GF. I moved from California last year and I just can't do the Dollar Tree thing. 99 Cent Only is THE dollar store. Was devastated when I found out they didn't have any in South Dakota. The produce, the wide variety of name-brand products...just can't beat it. I visited the one on South Virginia in Reno, and thought it could have been a little more organized as far as stock being out every which way, STILL MY STORE! Was like a little kid running around the place...haha. The 99 Cent Only is like my spoiled favorite kid relative everyone has...they can do no wrong in your eyes. Great store. read more

I am a big fan of this chain of stores but ... I purchased some strawberries from the store on South Virginia Street. They were sitting on an unrefrigerated platform. At home, I realized the strawberries had some kind of coating that reeked. I washed them thoroughly in soap but couldn't get the smell to go away. I tried to eat them in cereal but it was making me sick so I just threw the cereal and the remaining strawberries away. I suspect the coating was to prevent rotting but maybe this could be avoided by providing some refrigeration. I urge the owner of this store to install refrigerated platforms to keep salads and vegetables fresh and to generally pay more attention to proper food handling techniques. read more

Are they serious? Went into this store to get a small basket of items I had on a list. Had my 4 years old son with me. He wanted a couple of Easter toys and I obliged. Made our way to the checkout to find only 2 cashiers and I kid you not, both lines went all the way down one aisle to the END. All 5 people in front and behind me were complaining of how long the line was and how long it was taking to get these people checked out. Most people had 10 or less items. I stood on my tip toes to see the cashier in the line I was waiting in would without a doubt lose the damn snail race. The gal behind me says to me, "this is ridiculous, " to which I replied, "you are absolutely right, I'm not waiting." And as much as I am not in agreement with doing this, I left pissed off to all hell and left my basket full of goods by an end isle and walked out. Screw you .99 store and your lame ass lines! I'd still be waiting and would have missed the Super Bowl! Won't be back! read more
