I scored some cute napkins and paper plates and an organizer/storage container. They were decently stocked and not too busy late afternoon on a weekday. Okay, I get it, dollar stores are full of cheap crap, but have you been to a 99 cent store? The real pot of gold is in the back. Fruits and vegetables for $0.99 or 1.99. Cauliflower $0.99, Asparagus $0.99, Spaghetti squash, yeah you guessed, $0.99. I'm not saying that they have everything or that everything they have is perfect but deals abound. Also, be prepared to wait in line. I can't promise you will become a millionaire if you shop at the 99 cents only store, but it can't hurt. read more

My parents were in the grocery business. When 99 Cent Store buys an item it is a set price per shipment, they pass then pass along items to customers with a markup and they label the item at a fixed price based on what they bought it for. They don't, as 99Cent store does, not shelf price the item so that the company can change whatever they want when markets go up on the item. You actually pay more at 99Cent Store unless you are really careful and know the prices. A word to the wise. I had an employee give me the excuse the other day that they don't label items because the prices are constantly going up; what B.S.! THEY BUY AT ONE PRICE AND SHOULD BE SELLING AT ONE PRICE, not adjusting their price for inflation. Total scam. read more

I'm writing this review on my mothers behalf because she is a regular shopper here and today she had a horrible experience with an employee. My mom said it was a busy day so lines were long, well there was only one cashier open, the 2nd cashier kept pretending to keep busy. My mom was getting impatient because the employee kept pacing in and out the store pretending to do something. As soon as my mom became next up to ring up her items, the pacing cashier opened 2nd register and took two people behind my mom. The man asked "why don't you take them instead, they were before me"? The cashier said "oh because they speak Spanish" HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. My mom speaks English fluently and this is incredibly rude to deny service to someone because they appear to speak another language. read more

The pictures speak for themselves. Unorganized, dirty, not enough staff, boxes EVERYWHERE, empty shelves.....I could go on and on and on. The last time I was at the store about a month and a half ago I spoke with the manager and said this is utterly ridiculous. I popped in yesterday and it was actually worse. The isles were literally blocked by boxes, I actually do not know how people would get out of that store safety emergency hence the phone call to the fire marshal. I was next-door at Target yesterday so I thought hummmm, maybe I'll peek my head in the door and see if anything has changed. Sadly, even though they responded to my last review saying that they take these matters seriously and are always looking for ways to improve ..... nothing has changed. Same blocked isles, same empty shelves, Same merchandise thrown all over the place. Please do not shop at this store, we are better than this... I guess they have the philosophy of "we just throw it on the floor and you can bend over, rummage through it and then bring it up to the register and pay for it" No thank you I will spend my hard earned dollars somewhere else. read more

CHANGE YOUR NAME!!!! It's NOT 99¢ only. Many things are way over 99¢ and to be at the checkout completely taken back by the unexpected prices is false advertising. If the sign said 99¢ and up store I wouldn't have a problem- but it's in your name for Pete's sake!!! It's a blatant lie!!!!! This used to be a decent place to shop. Although they had some products for more than 99 cents most items were 99 cents. After Dollar Tree went to $1.25, they raised most of the prices to $1.29, then to $1.49. They still continued having some items for 99 cents, however, now they charge 99.99 cents, with the .99 in really small type. Why not just charge $1? Because the merchant is trying to pull one over on the consumer. Most of the products and shelves are not marked with prices, so you're never quite sure what price you're paying. I complained about this once and was told prices were rising so fast they couldn't keep up with changing the price displayed. I call BS. This business should be investigated, or at the least, change it's name. read more

There is an employee at this location that makes me feel incredibly uncomfortable. My friends have also detailed having similar experiences. He is a tall slender looking man, sometimes wears a beanie. He will stop and stare at us, sometimes directly while being behind us. Im not sure what his name is, but I don't feel comfortable continuing to shop there while he's still employed there. Every time I shop there it's the same series of events. read more

The employees need training in customer service... nobody knows where anything is, the store is a disaster, they have a bunch of people working, but only 1 register open. Phone is ringing off the hook and the cashier is complaining over the intercom about employees not answering phones, she wants her break and needs someone to come cover her! This is ridiculous. For free entertainment come watch how this place runs. So I'm finally up to the register and the phone was ringing again... I had already asked another employee to answer the phone and he said no my problem... SO I answered the phone, the cashier told me not to, but I could see she was stressed... it was the store support looking for the manager I explain the manager hasn't come out of the office and isn't helping the front the cashier. They asked my name I gave it and I explained to the store support person that the manager is nowhere to be found none of the employees are now, except this poor lady that's working the cash register and dealing with angry customers. read more

A lot of the stuff is no longer 99 cents. Be careful at the end when they start putting stuff in bags and charge you the 10 cents extra, hoping that you would not notice. If you do not ask for a bag, and they give it to you, you shouldn't have to pay for something that you did not ask for. read more

All I can say is I will not be shopping this store again.. Everything was ok until we got in-line to check out there was only one checker. The line at that point had 8 people in line many with quite full baskets ...after waiting a prolonged time there were 15 people in-line. When the manager was asked if there was another checker she responded sharply "she's on break " there were two other people working the floor and this manager pushed down the isle with a cart of go backs .... No help bagging ,checking , or offering any help to move her checkout customers along, after waiting 15 minutes in line for just a couple of items ..we left ... I Was used to going to the 99 cent only stores in so. cal which were respectably organized , decently staffed and staff who were proactive to manage lines. This one in Rohnert Park is a catastrophe by comparison. One check out line queuing all the way to the back of the store. ALL the time ! Staff and management who don't care and take the hard working and immigrant customers for granted. The floors are filthy; old produce rotting away in the back isles where no one cleans up. I was very unhappy with visit . The aisles were messy and staff was unprofessional . Had improper face coverings. When it came time to get in line I waited behind 20 people then the cashier just closed the line and said go to any other line. Instead he could have let people know he was going to close instead of having us wait then wait even longer to be attended . I used to like this store in Rohnert Park. Friendly employees, some good deals if you are careful. All that changed today. They were busy as always, long lines. That was ok even though all i wanted was raspberries and cookies. I stood behind a woman and her daughter who told me she was the end of the line. When she moved forward an older wonan with an entire cart full pushed the cart in front of me. When I told her I was in line she said I wasn't, that she was. When I pointed out that I had two items and she had upwards of 30 she pretended she didn't understand me, but she spoke English well. Apparently in her culture, whatever it is, manners are not a priority. I told her so. I then told one of the employees,and she said, "I can take those for you". I thought she meant to ring them ip when she said coldly, "now leave the store -- you're making a scene." I told her I would not return and she said, "Good -- we don't want you here". So -- never again will I shop there and I will tell anyone not to as well. read more

With the aesthetic of a flea market and the calamity of a whirl wind, one has to take chances when shopping here. It's crowded during the usual non-peak hours and can be a patience builder where there aren't enough cashiers to check one out. Not everything in the store is 99 cents as the marquee would suggest, so pay attention to the prices. Usually the items not 99 cents are labeled clear enough, although the way customers can throw stuff around, double check. I usually come here on the rare instance when I need reusuable plates or cups. I don't trus their produce as usually people pick and put their hands all over it, even the containers that are supposed to be closed and sealed. They carry a lot of junk food here, too, from chips and popcorn to soda and cookies. I stray away from those, too, as they are often close to heir due date and in questionable open boxes at times. From time to time, I will buy pens, pencils, or paper here, too, or perhaps a pack of gum. To be safe, I usually just buy non edible items. There are bargains to be had, however, if one doesn't mind all the above. I just would bring your patience with you and your eye for a good deal. read more

99 Cents Only has more variety than Dollar Tree- they have extensive sections of frozen food, Mexican/Chinese foods along with clothing, household cleaning items, and seasonal items. You can get fun tacky items like solar-powered dancing chiles. If you need cheap home decor, this is the place. Unlike Dollar Tree, they keep the cash registers staffed. I found plenty of Peeps and necessary bathroom cleaning items. However, their produce section is SAD! Everything was in a state of rot.... better off in a compost pile becoming part of the circle of life. I found some hazelnut flavored iced coffee, Peeps, stuff for cleaning. It's an OK place. It had a "People of Walmart" feel but even more so (why no "People of 99 Cents Only" or "People of Dollar Tree/Dollar General") I'll stick to Dollar Tree. read more

I love love love this store! They always have awesome and great products! I always shop here first before I go to an actual full price grocery store. I can fill up my fridge with $60 worth of items from here. They pretty much have everything I need at all times. Rudest employees I have ever dealt with. Their store was trashed; boxes and shelves were on the floor. When I was trying to get down an aisle a shelf that was propped up literally fell down on my 13 month old in his stroller. Instead of apologizing or asking if they could help two women just stared at me and one of them says, with a very bad attitude, "Uh yeah, you're NOT going to fit down here." Keep in mind the shelf was still fallen over on my son in his stroller.. As I struggled to get it off him and back down the aisle. They just watched me struggle instead of offering to help. I put the things I was going to buy back. I doubt I will ever return to the store. Also it reeks of riding produce in the store. read more

Its not safe to shop there are boxes everywhere I almost fell flat on my face. They need more cashiers and to clean the place up.

First off the bathrooms ALWAYS smell like someone recently took a fresh dump in. Many of times there is no toilet paper. I once had to use the toilet roll to wipe! No paper towels. The bathrooms also never look clean. Bathroom door locks can easily be pushed open by a toddler. The cash register lines are awful. They only ever have 2 or 3 cashiers at once! This store is HORRIBLE, Ann and Heather are terrible staff, today I witnessed something horrible. This staff named ANN yelled and cussed at a little girl AND HER MOM for entering when the store was closed! And THEY KICKED THEM OUT WHEN THE LADY was already IN LINE! favorite 99 center store $ I used to live right across the street from this place, but now that I live in Santa Rosa, I try to make trips to this place because it's my favorite. They've got an excellent selection, friendly cashiers, and inexpensive good items. I sell a lot of things on Ebay so this is my go-to store for shipping materials. (hey, i'm trying to maximize my profits :P) I get their 2-pack bubble mailer envelopes, which are more expensive at other stores such as Target and FEDEX/UPS/USPS. My last trip: spent $16 for 20 items. I'm surprised more people aren't shopping at places like these. I love saving my money. read more

Wonderful place to shop. Bargains Galore. We come here weekly, from several pounds of Oscar Mayer hot dogs for $1 to a big gourmet style lettuce that sells at Costco or Safeway for $5 for only $1. We get skunked often too, but that is the fun of it all, Bargain hunting at it's best. If you love a deal, this is the place to come to. Dollar store has dipped to basic junk, but this place has quality items at a bargain price, if you get it before it fly's off the shelf. Secret to this place is to find out when the "Truck" shows up and delivers items. We shopped at this store in Sacramento and San Leandro, and did our "Happy Dance" when they opened in Rohnert Park. So, if you love a bargain shop here, don't expect a big bargain every time, but like fishing, wait and you'll catch the big one and get hooked here!! read more

I USED to love this store as I could buy ladies knee socks here that lasted a long time. NOW they have the poorest quality knee socks possible that shrink up to nothing with one wash and get holes the first time you wear them. WHY???? Also, this USED to be a great place to buy inexpensively priced food UNTIL they just hopped on board the "shrink the size" bandwagon that the other discount stores have. NOW you get a way smaller amount of product for that same dollar than you did previously. LONG LINES, parking is usually full so that's a drag, unfriendly cashiers, everyone seems annoyed continually. I still shop here on occasion, but it isn't the great experience that it used to be. What a great concept? All you need at this store for 99 center... Wait!!! $1.49/$2.49. Don't be alarmed by the false advertising. Although the inside of the book isn't as appealing as its cover, this store offers many useful items for cheap prices. The store itself is relatively messy and the service is questionable. I would recommend this store for students that attend the nearby college, SSU. read more

I come into the 99 cent store and know I'm getting what I pay for. I don't expect perfection from anyone, or the store to be fully stocked, or even have what I usually go in for. But most of the employees I've talked to are not happy there. Lack of any raise in 2 years I heard from one employee (and I nice lady to boot), a real sense of drudgery as the shelves are being stocked, etc.. But the real kicker is the very notion of having multiple registers open in the store. PLEASE...if two are open at any one time, its a miracle. There is a definite lack of staff at the registers, and that can only be a management spending excuse. Pay people more, or hire more. I like coming in though, so I hope you'll make the necessary changes. read more

You can find everything there, fresh food and cool stuff, they have even organic food, fresh vegetables and fruits. They sell organic foods, produce, and milk here all in good condition. Who knew? I figured this store was just full of cards and candy, but it's pretty big inside. They also sell dishes, frozen food, and tons of canned goods. It's like an even cheaper grocery outlet. read more
