See's Candies in Montgomery Village - how have I not been in here sooner?! Sure, I've had the amazing boxes of mixed See's Candies, especially around the holidays (love!). But I hadn't been into this store ever (or any See's store in a long time). Chocolate heaven!!! I stopped in recently and was warmly greeted and offered a free sample. YES, please! And Thank You!!! I really just wanted a bite of their creamy and delicious milk chocolate. One bite...one piece. Is that even possible?! The sample hooked me. I browsed their endless options and selected 6 mixed milk chocolates in a bag to take home. A girl's gotta show some self-restraint. But wow, wish I bought more! Those sweet and smooth chocolates gone within 24 hours. The friendly staff offered me another free sample on my way out. Well hello, Unreasonable Hospitality! You didn't need to do that but it was so appreciated and I will 100% have me coming back for more very soon. read more

My favorite candy at See's -for now- is the All Milk Butterscotch Square because of the filling's wonderful sweetness and texture. See's Candies is very popular and always has been, so depending on when you stop in you may find yourself waiting in line for a minute. Trust me, See's is well worth the wait! read more

I realize this is not a local biz, but for a chain store, they treat you like they love our area. I purchased the discount cards at Costco and also have a card that gets stamped when I go in so that I can save $20 after 3 visits in 3 months. Savings aside, the chocolates are varied enough for all customers and are absolutely delicious. In addition to the delicious assortments, they have sugar free options. I also discovered that almost all the products are gluten free and low or no sodium. Health food! Randi was the wonderful woman who took care of my indecisiveness and led me in all the right directions. Highly recommend Randi and See's! read more

I've been coming here for a great many years, This See's Candy store is in Montgomery Village it's down the street from the Hospital I work at and is only 5 minutes away. I'm here again to get my dark Chocolate peanut butter hearts oh yeah yumm my favorite and well to be honest I do love so many others chocolates here as well, The dark chocolate pineapple truffle and the Bordeaux and the scotchmallows and all caramels ok ok I love most of all of it lol I come here without fail for every Christmas and always for Valentines Day of course! Oh have I mentioned before I am a tried and true chocoholic! And I say there is chocolate love is in the air tonight. Every time I come here I am always greeted with a big smile and a warm hello. And they always remember to give me some extras in my bag ah yayyyy and I must say I do very much appreciate the extra chocolate helloooo how ya gonna hate! To me, there's a reason that Warren Buffett purchased See's Candy- it is quality delicious candy that is dependable without change. Because of that, it continues to increase in popularity regardless of demographic. I've been eating See's Candy my entire life. My mom likes to tell the story of her being pregnant with me and craving sees candy and attributes that to my proclivity for wanting to eat sees as well. My family tends to be more of a nuts and chews kind of family, however my husband is more of a truffle kind of guy so from start to finish there's really not a piece of See's candy that we don't like. This location is extremely easy to get to in Montgomery village and the ladies and gentlemen working behind the counter here have been here as long as I can remember. They are friendly, helpful, courteous, and always have a smile on their face with a sample on deck. With covid changing the way the businesses run, they have moved to a mostly electronic ordering system and an outdoor order pick up. This change has not limited their access to the world however and has not slowed down their business. Try as I might, I cannot find a major candy producer that comes anywhere near the quality of See's Candy. Don't @ me with your statements that Hershey's or lindor or Russell Stover's is anywhere near Sees, because I will defend it to the end of the days. Maybe it's a real "California thing," like loving in and out burger but whatever the reason, sees candy is here to stay and will only continue to gain popularity. Um yes please! How can one hate See's Candies stores? While this may be a short review that many are likely to not read, it is still worth writing about this location. I will admit I do have a very picky sweet tooth...I know, yes I should never complain about it, but oh well. These white walled cookie cutter stores really bring back childhood memories of holidays visits and or random ones as well. Staff members are always great and happy to let you try any samples if you prefer. COVID will not slow this company down in the least, even if they are forced to do pickup only (Online ordering). Either way, I am sure I could write about the numerous flavors of chocolates as well as other treats they have, but many know this brand by now. A small bag of candy is now $16 which used to be under $10. $28.50 per pound! They do not offer samples anymore unless one asks. I did not appreciate the manner in which The cashier 053000000832 rushed me. It does take a bit of time to peruse what's in the glass enclosed display, thus I found her push not very customer friendly. Most customers have not memorized the many flavors in the case. The candy for the entire chain is made in a giant southern California factory. I've been eating See's candy since 1972. Has the quality decreased since then as other Yelpers claim? Probably not, what has changed is the age of that See's eater. As one matures the taste buds change and flavor perceptions go from desire for heavy sugar to more savory and spicy flavors. How many senior citizens do you know who still really love candy? But I bet that person has grown to love spicy Mexican or Asian cuisine. My 90 year old father in law (RIP) who had parochial Irish American bland food preferences as a youngster poured sriracha sauce on all his meals later in life. Apparently his taste buds died before he did. So reading the See's candy reviews from dozens of Yelpers that rank from one star to 5 is kind'a a showcase for what Yelp is more than judgement on the product. It's a ballot box of opinions and personal preferences. Different strokes for different folks. Me? Factory chocoIate? I prefer Lindt, Godiva, Scharfenberger, Valrhona over See's. A gift certificate brought me here today. The staff was very patient with me as I created my own box of assorted soft chocolate goodies. Great location in the private shopping center in Montgomery Village. The store was very clean and the chocolate was well stocked. They seemed to have a plentiful supply of all flavors offered. I stopped here to get some candy with gift cards I'd gotten for Christmas. The store was not crowded and I was helped right away. The two women working here didn't seem thrilled to be at work at/around the holidays, but they were polite and helpful. I just felt bad that 1) they have to wear those silly, unattractive uniforms and 2) they seemed so unhappy to be there. The candy was good as always. It's not my favorite, but it's a good standard and nostalgic memory for me around the holidays. See's = best candy shop ever. I've never had a bad piece of chocolate--or any other candy--from there. Ever. And I've been a customer since long before I can remember. Their flavors are rich, their truffles satisfyingly plump, and their prices lower than the competition. I do recommend buying by the pound, though, since the stuff prepacked in boxes adds up to quite a bit more than if you'd chosen the same amount of truffles individually. You're basically paying for the box, which, if it isn't purchased as a gift, is not at all vital to the enjoyment of the chocolates. My all-time favorite is the raspberry buttercream, but I also adore the caramels, the blueberry, orange, and lemon buttercreams, and anything at all with nuts. Each piece adds up to about 35 to 45 cents depending on size. As soon as you approach the counter, you'll usually be offered a sample of something--a nice little bonus just for dropping in. read more

The lady's working in the store this Morning 3/1/19 We're overly rude. They didn't offer me any sample candy and gave 3 other guests complimentary candies behinds me. They were talking under their breath about me that I smell?!? Idk I felt really uncomfortable and I'm just surprised that older women that are older than my grandmother would be so rude to someone. When you walk in, you're greeted by a friendly lady who offers you all a piece of vanilla buttercream with English walnuts (but you probably won't get the same one). Come onnnn any place that gives you free chocolate the moment you step in has me sold! It was delicious. We ended up buying so much. The Montgomery Village store has been my go to store for decades and I buy a lot of candy. (OK, I know too much candy isn't good for one but I am not putting my dietary practices up for approval at this time!). I have one person that has known me for a long time and does my custom pack just the way I want. One person that I attempt to avoid, however, wreaks so badly of cigarettes that I just don't bother going in if I see her on duty. The odor of lingering tobacco on a counter person in a candy store is not OK with me. Today, my custom pack and selections were handled by a lady who I had never met before but who was terse and bordered on being rude. From the very first request she was abrasive but I wanted my candy and I didn't think could get any worse. But it did. With the new Covid restrictions there are two separate display cases which have the same product. I waited at the first enclosed display case but could not see the top row of candy so I moved the tiered display on top of the case to my right while I was waiting. When she came over to start my order I was castigated for having moved the open display and was told to come around to the alternate case - - which actually had more open displays on top still obscuring the product. Then came the battle for box size. It became an exercise in splitting hairs. Then the sparring over how I wanted rocky road fudge placed in saran wrap so that it would not stick to the sides of the individual cups and dry out. I got the cups anyway and a tacit "no" on the Saran Wrap. The overall manner of personal treatment made me feel rushed and a friend that was with me made the same observation upon leaving. I knew what I wanted and wasn't dallying--but I still was feeling pressure to hurry up even though only one other customer was waiting and there was a second counter person free to help. For my complementary piece of candy it was placed in a small sealed cellophane bag. I made the comment that if I liked it I might have her put a few more in a separate bag for me. At that moment I was brusquely informed that no candy could be consumed in the store. However, on my way out I noticed two trash cans by the front door both of which had empty cellophane bags. I have been to this store and Corte Madera store twice at each location after Covid restrictions were lifted. At no time in prior visits was I ever told that I could not consume candy in the store. Part of the long-standing logo on the box states "A happy habit". Would that both of these employees could have made it the happy experience that I have always found to be true. The candy will always be a five star experience for me. But in the future I will call ahead to be sure I will be served by those who value my patronage and who succeed in making See's "A happy habit." And I will be more than pleased to correct and update my review. I like to be wrong in cases like this when a revision can be made when providing a less than stellar review. read more

All the ladies are friendly, well established and know their stuff. They are so accommodating and helpful and want to help you find the best chocolates for you, a gift or whatever you're looking for! Terrible experience ordering online. My custom mix arrived, having paid full price for shipping, NOT the mix i ordered. Upon my complaint i was told i didn't order what i ordered. Thanks for nothing. I will never, ever go back. I spent a lot of time making my picks and they don't care that their system doesn't work. I tried over and over.
