I frequent this location pretty often although I'm not very fond of some of the rift raft that takes place outside in front of the location. I prefer to visit the spot first thing on a Sunday morning as I find out that they replenish a lot of their newer items and food items here. Although like most other $.99 stores they do have items in there that are over $.99. Whoa, THE biggest and most well kept dolla store I had ever seen. Now I don't frequent dolla stores too often, but this store overcomes the reasons why I don't. The products are familiar brands; it is stocked nicely and cleanly; and they even have a legit produce and cold case that rivals Grocery Outlet. Not quite but almost. I never would of walked through these doors, if my dear aunt, who is now retired in this area, raved about this place to me a while back ago. So for her birthday, along with a cake and some goodies, I wanted to get her some gift cards from here. It was a little bit of a run-around getting them, as some cashiers were clueless about them, but I was able to get them on my second try in another line. Of course since I was there, I browsed the aisles for a bit just to get an idea. I ended up getting a few things that was on my list for the month anyways. Here are some finds: +Brand name galore. Not like other dollar stores where mystery brands rule the shelves. Tapatio, Campbells, Frito-Lay, Heinz and even a Haribo section! +Great produce section, not as many choices as a regular grocery store of course but tastier product and a much better price. Found guavas here, and primo cherries for $2/lb. Super surprised. +Well stocked shelves. Look at my pics. Usually dollar stores are notorious for having disheveled shelves. Not here. +Great for seasonal holiday decorations on the cheap. Or decorating for a kid's birthday and you're only going to use it once, get it cheap. +Amazing spacing. This definitely used to be a Kmart or some sort. I was there for at least 20 minutes, and I still didn't touch 70% of the store. It's that big. Out of curiosity, I found one of these in my town and checked it out. No where near as large, this was triple the size. And I think it contributes to their store being much cleaner, less damage and rummaging done to it. Now you will have to endure certain things, like long lines and the occasional drama that people who dollar stores attract bring. But that is not a big deal for me, it is part of what you sign up for, when walking through these doors. So to all those giving low ratings because you're expectations weren't in check, I'm throwing in an extra star to off set yours. I know where I'm at and I'm comparing to what I've seen. I visited this store for the first time and saw that they had these canned Thai tea boba drinks for 99 scents. Then when I paid, I looked at the receipt 30 minutes later and saw that they rung up as 1.99. I had bought 12 of them so I went back before I went back to Manteca. The cashier would not let us grab more to compensate and wouldn't let us do anything besides return everything to get our money. She even moved the sign to a different area of the drinks. Luckily I took the picture so my mom and I spoke to a manager named Maria, the only reason I gave 2 stars, because she let us grab 12 more since we paid double what was shown. I've been here a few times. It is one of the bigger 99 cent stores I've been to and I am impressed with the large assortment of products here along with the seasonal items especially the Halloween and Christmas decor. The prices are good but I think this store should be called 99 Cents or more. It is misleading to name a place 99 Cents Only and then charge in the upward range of $10 for some items. I guess that is something to take up with the corporate office. But overall I do like this store. The people that work the registers are pleasant and even with the long lines that sometimes form they are fairly quick ringing people up. Unfortunately, there are a few things I don't like about this store. First, being the smell outside of the store. It always smells like a rotting body it is very off putting and unwelcoming. Next, is the solicitors standing right outside the doors of this store and they are very pushy. Lastly, The poor manners of some of the customers in this store is completely appalling. I have experienced customers that like to walk right in front of me while I'm waiting in line practically knocking me on the floor. Just to get over to another isle. No, excuse me , no I'm sorry. Having an I don't care attitude and wearing it like it's badge of honor is nothing to be proud of to say the least. This 99 cents store to me seems bigger than the one located on March Ln. It's very specious and the aisles have more room in my opinion. Since I was in the area I decided to check this place out. I don't really come here because it's very far from my house. I only been here maybe a couple times since it's been open. I walked around and was lost , because I didn't know where anything was at. But that's okay because I got a lot a time to check out the products and take pictures. But when I did need to find something I would ask an employee where a certain item was located. The staff on hand today was very helpful. It basically has the same things as any other 99 cents stores that I've been too. I didn't see anything new that I haven't seen before. The basics from canned goods to laundry soap. Fruits and vegetables, frozen food and bread etc etc. I do a lot of my shopping in places like these, I'm glad places like these exist. I didn't mind that it had long lines or it was jammed packed. I was in no rush this evening. Just taking my time. So when It was time for me to leave, I was helped by cashier Michael. This place needs to learn the concept of calling for backup when there's ONLY 3 registers open with 8+ people in each line. Hire more people, maybe shorter break times during peak hours or something! I had 4 items I wanted to get and left them behind because I had absolutely no patience to wait. I won't be back! And the environment this store is in is unsafe and is an absolute solicitation nation. No one wants $5 bootleg movies or jewelry that will turn necks green. Easy pass! My mom just called so upset, She actually wanted to know how she could go about reporting this particular place for false advertisement. I guess the next step would be better business bureau. She just left there after filling up her cart groceries and things, and when she got to the register she realized that she was being charged more than $.99 per item. The sign on the front of the store read 99 cents ONLY. is there something she was missing? At some point they were charging her 2.99 of a few items. I've encountered some scary things at this store. There is ALWAYS arguing between customers and the security guys. The last time I came in the female security women she's Latina if I'm not mistaken, was VERY unprofessional and was mistreating a customer like I've never seen before and tries to run away from the problem at the end. She needs to be fired as I heard her tell an African American women that "only black people steal" who the hell says that?! Very rude. The parking lot is disgusting always trash everywhere. This is the only one of the 99 cent stores woth going to. They carry brand name cereals all the time and liquid coffee mate. The produce can be a great deal but its discount so you have to use it right away its not going to able to sit in your fridge for 2 weeks like you paid full price. I find a lot of salon shampoo and conditioners here from time to time like salon grafix and diamond shine. Sally hansen nail polish and purina pet foods. Go ahead and buy anything that sparks your interest. It's worth a try since each item costs you less than a dollar. Stick to what works good for you and of course stay away from the items that were a failure. In my opinion the biggest downside of this store is it attracts an abundance of weirdos. I've had a few bad experiences with rude customers who seem to have no problem invading my personal space. It's always quite busy. If you can look past these things you will be fine. I'm usually dependent on Dollar Tree since it's closer to home but I will make a trek out to the 99 Cents Store if I really want or need something special like a decent set of batteries. read more

My whole life i have been going to 99 cent only stores i recently moved to stockton from sf and my parents were at the store when they were in process of checking out security accused us of stealing an item. Now we are talking 1$ store . Father then empties emptied his pockets to prove he had no items . ( "me personally i would of not have even opened my pockets to prove anything") my parents are seniors and have trouble speaking and understanding english. Like many others i will take control for my parents on behalf of this matter . Security claims manager told him to approach us and manager comes and claims he is " sorry " ... & sorry does NOTHING FOR ME . mean while the store is full of customers and its very embarrassing being accused for stealing a dollar item. As a " manager " he had the audacity to approach us in a way were he was so certain of what he was saying . Unfortunately he wasnt certain enough. Item was placed on checkout register infront of manager the way they handled it was as if it was totally okay to do such a UNPROFESSIONAL thing. Discrimination at this location has to stop , accusations is high at this location, By far im highly disgusted with the overall accommodation to what had happened.
