We love Daiso and were super excited to get one in Stockton since the closest one was South Sac. Big store with lots of cool goods from snacks to kitchen supplies, office supplies and even a bit of gardening items. They also have a self checkout which is nice. We like the other Japanese store in town as well but some of the snack items are cheaper at Daiso. If you've never been to one just think Japanese Dollar Tree but much cleaner and better quality products.

Daiso just opened up this weekend in Stockton and the lines were long to get in. I have been going to Daiso in the Bay Area so I am glad not having to make that commute. While waiting in line, staff came out to play some fun games to entertain the crowd. Inside, while the Stockton Daiso was not as big as the Union City location, it had the stuff I was used to seeing and carried what I needed. From the cutesy stuff such as Sanrio and Disney brands, to organizational items such as clear letter size envelopes to hold documents, houseware, garden and more. They even had Japanese grocery items and pastries. There is a little bit of everything so be prepared for cuteness overload and the temptation to get that extra something you didn't realize you needed. I bought the clear letter size envelopes boxes to organize my work and personal paperwork. I also bought these adorable dog stickers for a friend and a super cute panda hat for my dog, just because.

I've been to a million daisos and I've never had an employee acknowledge me while shopping. It's not a big deal I was just surprised and for that I'll give this place 5 stars. The staff were incredibly welcoming and the store was soo clean. Also this daiso has some nice options to choose from, so glad another one has opened.

It's moved 2 different times since I was little but I've been coming to this one as often as I get a chance. 90% of the items in here are damaged or expired - that's why you're getting everything DIRT cheap. No, it is not a clean grocery store by any means.. It's a warehouse where stuff gets dumped off before they get rid of it (I'm assuming). You'll find mostly canned foods, chips/crackers, cereals, huge variety of drinks (canned and bottles), gum/candy, and just random boxed foods. They have more but that's the majority of it. About 1/3 of the items are on tables, a bit organized, and then 2/3 just in a TON of boxes. This is not a place I come to go grocery shopping but I always come because I know I'll find cereal and canned stuff WAY cheaper than the store. Last year I found 12packs of La Croix, flavored sparkling waters, for a freakin' DOLLAR. $1. They were only there because there was a typo on the box. Here's the end of this! I just went in today and spent $15.50 and got the following (none of the items below were expired. The cans and boxes were dented though): 10 cans of flavored sparkling water 4 different flavored boxes of Triscuits 2 boxes Thai noodles 4 boxes of organic cereal Family size Wheat Thins Box of Ritz Box of Cheez-Its 4 cans of Trader Joes coconut milk Cashew milk Orville popcorn Box of fruit snacks I can't tell you exactly how much that would cost at a grocery store but I would have to assume at LEAST $40. So.... If you don't mind looking through a bunch of bent boxes or dented cans to get things for like 1/5 of the regular price then this place is amazing :)

So you pick a bunch of stuff but have no idea how much it costs. So you go up to a cashier and honestly it seems like they are making up the prices at the registers. I took a can of cookies up to the cashier to ask her how much it was she told me $2. I said ok put it in my cart and continued shopping. After I was ready to check out i noticed a different cashier rang up the tin of cookies $3. When I told her the other cashier told me it was $2. She said ok and I thought she took the $3 off but when I looked at the receipt she did not take the $3 dollar charge off and in turn actually charged me $5 for a $2 can of cookies that by the way expired 2 weeks ago. So be careful make sure you are watching the cashiers, your receipts and the expiration dates on the products. Make sure you are actually getting a deal and not triple charged for some old expired products.

You won't go in knowing exactly what you want, but you'll walk out with things you didn't even know you needed. The deals are insane, but it's definitely a bit of a treasure hunt to find the best stuff. Pro tip: bring your own tote or basket because the carts get taken fast, and throw on some gloves. Some of the items are liquidated from Target or out-of-season. It takes some patience, but the prices make it so worth it. I've gone on all the days and every single time I'm in there, someone breaks a piece of glass or stacks their wagon or cart so high that it ends up being a safety hazard. I'm not sure why "$6 an item" brings out the worst in people but you'll witness people argue and make snide remarks. It's a high stress environment. The 25 cent day was actually the worst! I've never seen so many people bent halfway into bins, tossing things and grabbing things. There's an app where you can reserve a number to get inside in a more civilized manner but that doesn't stop people from acting like lunatics. In fact, you'll see everyone hover around the door at 10am. Still, I've found great stuff so I keep coming back for the deals. It's a fun treasure hunt and great for early Christmas shopping.
