I dropped in today for two more of the car seat lumbar support items. We re doing two long car trips and they really help the ride. This will be a first use in a car for both passenger and driver. This whole chain is going out of business nationwide, so I dropped in to see if they have anything on sale. They are out of most stuff; aisles are pretty empty and messy, and what remains is only slightly on sale. Maybe there will be deeper discounts later. I only bought four bottles of juice and two jars of salsa for $21.59 total. It wasn't crowded on a Sunday evening, so checking out was quick. read more

I recently moved to the Ina/Oldfather area and was kind of excited that there would be a cute little 99 Cents Only store near me. The first time that I stopped by, I needed some beverages. Just some bottled water, canned soda, that kind of thing while moving into my new house. I noticed that the selection was a little lacking but again, I realized I was at a smaller store and not a huge Walmart. I did end up getting some water and some sodas, all of which were priced decently, but I will note that not everything here is 99 cents. While I realize that there is still a great discount here, if you name a place "99 cents only" then I do feel like the "ONLY" in the name means that nothing is going to be over $1. So there's some clever yet deceiving marketing going on with the name. Really, I get it, and I understand these items are still discounted, but you are being a little deceptive with the name. On my first trip, the store was a little messy but I chalk that up to employees unboxing things, etc. The parking lot, like others have mentioned, is a little run down. No lines anywhere so it is kind of a free-for-all with the parking. Again, you're getting cheap items here, so I don't expect perfection. Yet the cashier had absolutely no personality. I was in a longer line and when I got to the counter with my few beverages I attempted some small banter starting with "It seems like a busy day" and the cashier only offered "uh huh" and nothing more. Boo. I guess not everyone is outwardly friendly but I mean...try to make customers think you care. My second trip was terrible. I sent my husband in to grab me a hairbrush because while unpacking I had misplaced mine. He went in and grabbed one, nothing eventful to report. When I got home I opened the brush/comb set and started to use the brush. Immediately it broke. The rubber part with the bristles just popped out of the brush. It looks like it wasn't even glued in well. Anyway, I popped it back in and tried again. Pops right back out. Complete waste of any money as the brush won't work. I then turned to the comb and as I started to brush the comb breaks away from the handle. Again, looks like it isn't even glued in. Now--maybe this is why this product was sitting at the discount store--but I was still furious. Even discounted, the items should still work. About 10 minutes later my husband found my missing brush and he did offer to take these defective ones back but it didn't even seem worth it. While perhaps this is a manufacturing problem, you'd still think ANY store would make sure the product they are selling isn't so defective that it cannot be used. My second trip put a bad taste in my mouth. I may still pop in for an emergency can of beans or something, but there is a Frys right down the road (and a nearby 24-hour Walmart as it turns out) so I don't see myself coming here regularly if I cannot trust the products they're offering. read more

Since I discovered this store I have no other favorite!! , Im a loyal customer to this one at Ina Rd. I love how people who works there is so nice (except one person, but sometimes I can understand). I love their low prices (99c of course), But since their prices are higher on some items and I noticed that those prices are the same regular prices at other stores, I started to doubt and shop carefully at the 99 Cents Only Stores cause some items are overpriced now (actually, some can be about to expire ) I used to go every 3 days and spend 50 bucks every time. Now I go every two weeks and spend $70 (Im trying to save). Please, 99! Isn't it supposed to be .99 c only? Don't do this again like some years ago!! read more

When you got to a dollar store you know the quality of product that you are getting. Most of the dollar stores I have been to are decent, this is the worst dollar store that I have ever been to. My wife wanted to go see if thy had bread or something. When we walked in there was such a bad strong smell that I had to breathe through my mouth the whole time we were there. It was awful! This store sells produce, I would never buy anything from this store. It is dirty and smelly. Just don't, you have been warned! read more

I've come here since it opened in 2004. I make less frequent trips after an incident a few years back. I was bothered by a young man asking for money IN THE STORE. Outside is one thing, but this pest gave me the creeps. He wouldn't leave me alone until I gave him money. Since then, I've limited my time here. This place has gone downhill from what it used to be: an actual dollar store. I was there today and nearly every other item was 1.99, 3.99, 5.99. I even saw things that were 9.99 (inflatable unicorn) and 12.99 (stuffed animals). The items weren't top quality, but slightly better than typical dollar store finds. For the prices they were charging on some things, it's worth it to go to Walmart or Target for better quality. The upkeep on this place seems to be declining. The lines for parking spaces outside are all but gone. The floors were dingy. The items everywhere were shoved haphazardly on the racks, specifically party supplies which is what I came to see. I wound up stepping out of line and walking out. There were two lines going and people had full carts. Each line had 3-4 people waiting. I wasn't even sure the 3 things I was about to purchase were actually .99 cents since so many items are bearing the yellow sticker of much higher prices. So I gave up. I might come back when they're not as busy, but this was middle of the day on a weekday and the store was packed. I'm not sure how they get away with keeping the "99 Cents Only" in their name, but they did it. Other people seem to be really into it and continue to give them business, but I'm confused by the whole place. I miss when everything was a dollar or less and you could score some cool deals. read more

Okay I'll admit it addicted to the store! They always have an item that makes a great deal if you get there early enough in the day before it's sold out. They always have a variety of fresh produce but should be eaten almost within the day of purchase or two but still beats grocery store prices when trying to feed your family healthy. read more

For a dollar store it's good. No dollar store is really clean or has great customer service or short lines but it's of the better ones.

I recommend this store for produce, but you have to come early in the day or after lunch when they restock. I have also bought bread, milk, eggs, and cheese from here, and found all satisfactory. read more

People have to understand the 99 cent stores are places that vendors use to dispose of products that are made from unknown brands that we do not regularly see. I have found many products that are just as good if not better than "Brand Named Products" and are just $1.00. There are some products I get on a regular basis such as lotion, toothpaste, detergent, bleach, kleenex, cleaning products, bottled water, etc. They also have a nice display of other items like cards, dishes, and many interesting things that I haven't seen at other retail stores. The quality on some items are better than others just as they are at any store. I will admit the produce section could be cleaner and items that are not looking good should be removed. I always look at the "pull date" and get the freshed I can. Items in this section go pretty quickly so it's a good idea to get there early -- that is, if they get things restocked on an ongoing basis. I get certain things in the produce area that I can't find other places like shredded carrots, good bean sprouts, tiny tomatoes, Parisian cucumbers, etc. that are quite expensive everywhere else. I also like the packaged zucchini, broccoli, lettuce, radishes, and mushrooms - if fresh. Even if we can't get everything we want the way we want it, I'm glad that we have these discount stores that can help us save money on the thing we spend the most money on - food, cleaning products, and household items. I'm especially glad that it helps low-income families to make ends meet. read more
