Tough review since I'm a 99 fan, and we have barely any restaurants in Gardner, so we are really relying on this restaurant as one of our limited selections here. Food was good during Grand Opening, but since then about half of my deliveries were incorrect. And yes, this even before Door Dash grabbed the order. Bags are sealed. One time we called the GM after we were missing 3-4 drinks and could not drag an apology out of her. They would not re-deliver, so unless we wanted to eat fried food without drinks, I had to drive into the store and wait in the lobby for 10 minutes, even though it was empty, while my family waited at the dinner table. If you want to chance getting your food right here, then order something fried with no substitutes or drinks, and you should be good to go. read more

the southwest fajita carnitas pork bowl was okay the meat was seasoned well and a little tough and the guac was for limey. Like a cheap chipotle. The salmon was okay just a little dry and over cooked but the mashed potatoes and the rice were good. The rice was seasoned well. The brownies were very cake like and was not brownie like at all. The main women who works nights at the bar is very rude and can not be bothered. I had been looking at a menu topper at end of bar for 1/2 price apps, the women saw I had been looking at prior to ordering, i then ordered 4 of the apps specifically on that menu and when the bill came was charged full price. 1/2 price did not start till 8PM and it was 7:45PM. I missed that part, my mistake, however, I work with people and understand mistakes are made, when asked if she could help she said "there is nothing I can do" which is lazy and bs, she can ask a manager, she could help someone out, but nothing was done to help, never went back to her again and left a $0 tip. Customer service skills are basic and some work in that field and cant even do that. Went to the nines couple nights ago was craving steak tips and mashed potatoes both were good. Place was clean and waitress was decent was offered some popcorn. Sure I'll take some popcorn went during happy hour apps are all like 6 bucks or some shit like that ( tiny weenie print) it says at the bar. I was on the road and thought I would splurge with a dessert from the 99 to go. Ordered the Choc. Chip Cookie Skillet. It comes with ice cream. I arrived right on time and the server came right out. It came in a nice, substantial plastic bag, and the server was super friendly and efficient! I pulled around in the lot to enjoy my decadent treat. The menu stated that it was "warm and gooey." It was neither warm nor gooey! I was so bummed that the cookie was not heated up. It was large, but it just tasted like a cookie you would get from a gas station convenience store. The scoop of ice cream came in a separate cup within the cookie container. It was fine--your basic vanilla ice cream. They said it came with utensils, but it was only a knife and fork! My wife and i went to the 99 restaurant for national burger day, we ordered burgers well done and they were rare. You would think being a brand new establishment they could get cooking a burger right. When we were leaving out in the parking lot we could see the manager speaking a cook and the cook walked away way to go 99. Also i went there a week before with my brother and we got some apps at the bar, when we tried to order a second time the women bartender said no we were like what. She thought we were trying to order them to go 1/2 off app's you can't take to go but she just assumed we were taking them to go you can't treat people like that. We order 99 delivery quite often and have always been pleased. Last night was a different story. The kids grilled cheese meals were all bread with just a tiny bit if cheese in the middle and both our salads were mostly rotted lettuce with tons of croutons. I called to complain about the quality of food we received. The manager said I'd have to call door dash for a refund. Door Dash doesn't make the food they just deliver. Very disappointed in the food. I asked for well done tips and I got medium well fatty steak. The asparagus was lacking in quantity. Broccoli was pathetic. Potatoes are okay though. The only positive note i could leave would be delivery. He was earlier than expected so that was nice. But that's doordash. And somehow i had to pay the 99 a $7.50 delivery fee. Doesnt make much sense to me when im less than a half mile away and still tip delivery. So all in all this restaurant is overpriced and not a good meal. Ugh. read more

I'm not sure how anyone can complain about this local chain. Although it's not flashy and doesn't offer cutting edge cuisine, it simply doesn't disappoint, and prices and portion are good all around. If you are a New England local, you've probably been to the nines many times, but if you're coming from out of the area and want a good taste of New England at a decent price, this does the trick. It's the place I had my first legal drink, a Barbados breeze (not necessarily proud of that since those types of drinks are too sugary for me now!), and where our group "pre-games" before Patriots tailgates and games (Foxboro). I normally stick with the burgers, tips, and boneless wings (gold fever!!), but I've enjoyed the Mediterranean bowls and baked haddock here and there. I've been going to this chain off and on since about 1992 or so. I've never really had a bad meal at a 99. Our experience here was similar. Great food, great dessert, great service and at a reasonable cost. My hamburger was excellent and cooked right. One of the things I've always liked about the 99 is that they contribute to the Pine Street Inn in Boston. Not as fancy as Grille 110, but better, and cheaper, too. Recommended!!! read more

Food and service were excellent. we have been so excited for this to open. My daughter has celiac disease. For the last 9 years thenonly safe place to eat was the ninety nine in fitchburg. We have eaten here in gardner three times and she has gotten sick twice from cross contamination. Guess its back to Fitchburg. So sad. Was so happy to have a safe local place. I guess Our home town will never be celiac friendly. As a side note, we have never had this issue at any other ninety nine and will still eat at the others when we travel. read more

I tried take out and the food was cold when I got home only live 4 miles from restaurant and came 10 minutes before they told me it would be ready so I don't get that. And the portion size was very small compared to when I get them in house ( extra large order of gold wings) The last time I went this week I ordered rare steak tips and got well done beyond well done really it was like they left it on the grill and forgot about it. They did remake them and still over cooked but not as bad. But since everyone else had already finished their meals long before the second plate came I excepted it. Food was serviceable. It was what we expected from a chain. Our service was not good, however. The waitress took our order and then we never saw her again, except for her to drop off my wine (which she admitted she forgot was at the bar). She didn't deliver the food or check in on us, didn't see if we needed more drinks, and didn't ask if we needed a takeout box for my husband's leftovers. She dropped off the bill, took another table's order, and never took our bill with the credit card clearly exposed. I had to run the bill to a manager so we could get our son home to bed. I'm a waitress and I'm always good for 20-30% for one of my own; but this girl earned a solid 5% from me tonight. read more

i ordered scallops last year at both the Fitchburg and Gardner and in both cases the fish was undercooked. My mother and sister had the same experience. The first time I went I gave them the benefit of doubt because it was a new restaurant. Waitress needed more experience with the menu, hostesses needed to do better job of seating (people with walkers could not navigate the restaurant). Food was good though so we went back last week. Waitress was much better. Excellent in fact. Until I double checked something with the person in my party who looked at the bill. We had a coupon for a free appetizer. The waitress took the coupon, but never deducted the appetizer from the bill. Never got the coupon back either. This is my third poor experience in a row with a 99. The first was in Hudson. 1st and last time going here. Love the 99 but this was horrible. First it wasn't even busy, we waited Almost 15 minutes for our Appetizer and of course our meals came out 2 minutes later. They forgot to make my daughter meal and even after waiting for it it tasted horrible. It was Thursday Oct 17/19 and we had a party of 7 so we did what most would do With that size party and we called ahead. When we arrived at our schedule time the woman had informed us that they were backed up a little bit. And told us that we would be waiting in additional 15 minutes. No big deal, so we waited and waited and waited until 45 minutes later I decided to go back up to her and ask her if we were getting Seated anytime soon and when she replied no with a grin on her face at that point I asked her again will you be seating with in the next 5 minutes and she again she grinned and sarcastically said no. So after calling ahead to be courteous to them and others not only they we wait all this time and wasted approximately 2 hours between the time I called and this final conversation . Sounds asked her what the point of call ahead seating was is she was going to continue to seat walking rather that take care of people who did you the courtesy of calling ahead. HER RESPONSE: it's not a reservation! GRIN.. we decided to go to south side grill next door with in my mind is a much better restaurant anyway with way better customer service. So all in all long story short I will no longer give my money the the 99 restaurant in Gardner and I urge anyone to truly think twice about doing any business with them as well.
