Never heard of the restaurant being from the West Coast, but good reviews convinced me to stop in. Was immediately greeted and seated by the manager and greeted at the table shortly after by Sophia. In terms of overall service, Sophia gets a 10! The very first thing I saw when I opened the menu was the Chicken Sausage Al Forno. The picture looked so dang good that I didnt even look at other options. It took like 5 minutes for this massive heap of chicken, sausage, penne, and cheese to get to my table. One would think that a local chain New England restaurant would serve the very least though not the best but some what edible seafood. Brand as a comfort New England offerings with a seafood selection on the menu, I ordered the fish and chips. I realize that as a chain the logistics of provision delivery must be the same, but these provisions companies do offer fresh seafood. What I received was a thawed piece of fish that was trimmed thinly where the coating was equal to more than the protein. The tail end was most likely freezer burnt because my plastic fork could not cut through. Trying to pull apart a piece with my fingers was difficult it was rubbery as it I was dealing with a piece of overcooked calamari and the dark part where skin was covered most of the under side. Cheap Alaskan pollork maybe. Could not finish. Rice there is hit or miss, sometimes okay, sometimes undercooked. It's not that hard to cook uncle Ben converted rice. Baked stuff shrimp often overcooked leaving a product similar to a 41-50 shrimp. Been going there for years but the last few years quality has gone down hill. I know it's the 99 so I shouldn't expect good seafood but I decided to splurge on the seafood trio which was shrimp, scallops and white fish. The fish made me want to throw up. Every bite had multiple bones. The casserole was mostly butter. I couldn't have more than a few bites before giving up. The waitress came over and asked if I wanted a To go box but I said no thank you. She didn't ask if there was anything wrong with the food. I don't usually go to chain restaurants, but I couldn't resist the large lobster roll special. We were greeted and seated right away, with a bowl of popcorn. Our server Sarah was very polite, friendly and professional. My partner had the onion soup, which was very thick with a too many onions and little broth. He enjoyed it anyway. I had the lobster roll, which came with 2 sides. Very good, and lots of lobster. I would have like a bit less mayo. My partner had the cheeseburger. It was cooked to order, but the fries with it were lukewarm. Overall, I thought our meal was good, price reasonable, and the service was excellent. read more

2 Weeks in a row the food was under cooked and cold. This time we just sent it back,and my wife and I just walked out. When we talk to management on the way out, no one seems to care. All they want to do is just give you a gift card. Don't want a gift card. Don't want anything. All I want is for the food to be cook the way we ordered it and hot. Management needs to hold the kitchen staff responsible for what they send out to the tables. The 99 Restaurant in Taunton was a first time visit. They have very friendly, helpful staff And the food is very, very good! I took advantage of their lunch specials and it was tremendous! The beef was amazing and the Tex-Mex plentiful. A little tricky to maneuver into the place for 1st timers because of the location but once your there your home! Plenty of parking and bring the family. The variety drinks for the adults and choice desserts for the you who can afford the calories are all awesome. :) read more

Then they say you will receive a refund in 3-5 business days . For something I already paid for? This place used to be so good but it has really gone down hill. The Hot Buttered Colossal Lobster roll 'piled high on a grilled brioche roll' was the leftover bottom of the barrel lobster meat, full of shells. The grilled brioche roll was a cheap low end supermarket hot dog roll. So disappointing. For $30 I expected a much better meal. read more

Just ordered for curbside pick up. Very organized, quick and efficient. I got the seafood trio, which was absolutely delicious! Always good food when i come here. Went on wednesday so there was no wait, we walked right in and sat in a comfy booth. Waitress was a bit slow, we had to ask for our cheese and crackers 2x. Barbados Breeze mixed drink was yummy but lacking on the alcohol. Sirloin tips were cooked a perfect medium rare, portion size was great. Def had plenty to take home. Very upset at our takeout order, we got the smallest piece of salmon and three pieces of asparagus that is literally the size of a blade of grass. This isn't even close to a decent proportion for the cost of what we paid. We are regulars here and I'm appalled at this. We also asked for a burger well done and it came raw. Can't even eat it. We will not be returning to this 99 restaurant anymore cause this is not the first time we have been displeased with their lack of portions, how they pack their to go boxes, and messing up our to go orders. Honestly, the food is good... however, I ordered fish tonight and on my way I called because I didn't know if tarter sauce was included and if not, I wanted to add it. I called and was told they would add it but it would be an additional charge! I said I didn't think it was added and they told me that all condiments were an extra charge! Whaaaàattt??? I explained I only had enough cash for a tip...but they wouldn't budge. I'm sorry, but I feel this is so ripping people off! On a busy Saturday evening we got lots of smiles and were seated right away. Service (Kenneth) was excellent. But the food was mixed results - scrod was overdone, the bread crust on top even smelled burnt, the fries (pictured) were cooked in old grease. Remarkably, the kids meal that came w fries 10 min earlier were OK, so they just needed to change over 1 fryer. Kids chicken strips were excellent, so was the burger, and sides of broccoli and cole slaw...we've had better here before but we'll be back. We've been going to the 99 chain for a long time. We were in the area and decided to try this one out again. The 99 chain is pretty consistent, this particular location is not my favorite. It's difficult to get in and out of the lot, it's always busy. The food was good, the kitchen time was kind of slow. Our server Shelby was pretty good. I'd go back, but I wouldn't rush back, or go out of my way to go here. Recommended, unless you are in a hurry. read more

I ordered online and went to pick up my order. To my surprise there were 16 cars tonight waiting for take out. You are not allowed to go into the restaurant to pick up your order. The person delivering the food to me was very polite, smiling and courteous. She and another person were carrying out multiple orders at a time and collecting money from other cars. As always the food was delicious and hot. We miss the usual bartenders that always serve us very well and always takes care of something if there is an issue with your food. read more

I've tried a few times over the years to go to a Ninety Nine, and still won't be frequenting the restaurant. The problem is they don't have vegetarian options on their menu, outside of ordering off the side dish list. They used to have a vegetarian main dish salad, but a few years ago changed the menu to have all salads come with meat. We ate at the bar, and when I asked if they had Guinness, they said yes. I discovered that 'yes' meant in a can, not on tap. It would have been nice to be told this up front. I had a side garden salad, which was OK, but nothing special. The service was otherwise good, and the many tv's made watching the Redsox game easy. Until they have veggie food on the menu, I probably won't go back. read more

This, like any other 99, is average. I like the food enough, but it can be boring. What isn't so great is the bar manager. Sitting at the bar with friends, and they are checking IDs. I had just gone to the RMV and got my old license taken from me, but all I had was my passport. The bartender calls over the manager and he notices it is expired. Ok, whatever, I don't drink tonight, thats fine. Rules are rules. But my wife, in the same situation, hands the manager her passport. He looks it over and tells her that hers is expired too. Now, i know I got mine a while ago, but I know she got hers in 2012. The manager, couldn't tell the difference between the expiration date (2022) and the issue date (2012). When i pointed this out to him, he wanted to fight with me over it. He finally conceded the battle, after some back and forth, but his demeanor was horrible and gruff. While that story might not deserve 2 stars, what did was that the manager was slowing down and stopping service to people for the rest of the time we were there. He kept micromanaging people every step of the way, and it was clear he actually didn't know how things worked. He was in the way the rest of the time, standing behind the bar, not serving people, just watching his employees trying to get by him doing their jobs. He made service unreasonably slow and too complicated. If I don't see that manager again after some time, I will update this review. read more

Worst 99 I have ever visited. Tasted like frozen TV dinner. Sent steak tips sent back twice as they over cooked then undercooked. Tasted like mystery meat and some were globs of fat. I actually feel like I am getting sick from eating it. Broccoli tastes frozen and butternut squash reminded me of hospital food with too much sugar. Was there recently. I was promised a response from upper management after my email. There has been No response from upper management. I just wanted someone to know what a ripoff the lobster roll was. Me and my boyfriend love coming here and we have a favorite server. He always talks to us and tells us the best specials! The food always comes out great and they give everything we need like extra napkins without asking. The sauces we request are always there. Its always a pleasure. I'm shocked I actually liked this place. One of my cousins has autism and can be a bit picky. He has to have things a certain way, and to some people he can be a bit loud and annoying (I love him to pieces though!!) with his repetitive questions and stims. Let me tell you, our waitress was FABULOUS!! She totally got it. We went for lunch and she sat us away from people. I told her all his weird quirks with getting food and she did not miss a beat. Always made sure we had refills, and made sure everything was plated correctly. She managed to catch that it wasn't done correctly and came over to apologize and say it would just be a minute. This is one of the better 99's that I've dined at, with excellent service and food accurately cooked to order. I have visited this location numerous times with my wife and daughter, and while there is often a wait on the weekends, there is ample seating so you need not stand around the host's station. They will let you call in ahead of time and put your name on the list, however, so you can wait for your table while you drive to the restaurant. read more

My Daughter and I treated ourselves to some takeout. The Calamari was ineatable. The potato skins where dryed out and greasy. The Buffalo Chicken dip smelled rotten when the lid was removed, the flatbread, and tortilla chips that went with it where overlooked and extremely greasy. I'm not the biggest fan of chain restaurants but this is right around the corner from my house and we do end up going here about once a month. The food is good enough and I love that they do call ahead seating. The staff here are exceptional. They remember my daughter especially and are always so nice to us. Never had any issues with how the food was prepared. I do wish the menu would include some vegetarian options aside from the standard pasta or portabello burger, but I do eat meat so it's not a deal breaker for me. We can usually get in and out of there before my two year old starts melting down, so this is a good option for us when we eat out as a family. read more

This place is becoming a staple in the weekend date night rotation simply because it's a clean restaurant with good food and great service. We usually sit at the bar because the bartenders are great: attentive, helpful at trying to find you a seat if you're standing and waiting, and very knowledgable about their products. The beer selection has recently gotten better and they're stocking all kinds of craft beer now. I usually go with a burger or buffalo wings and never have any complaints. Quite honestly, the worst 99 I've been to in the area. I've been a long time customer of other 99 restaurants and the service here is awful. Bartender "Joe" started his shift and refused to serve us another light beer unless we ordered food. Understandable, if my father and I had not had 3 light beers over the course of two hours. We politely decline but ordering food was his ultimatum. He was rude, like his manager, and will lose all business that we would've otherwise brought. Can't say enough negative things about this service and do not recommend to anyone looking to get enjoyable service at a chain restaurant.
