Cute little pub spot on route 6! Sat on the bar side and was served right away. Both cocktails were delicious! Had an order of chicken wings, crispy and fresh love to see. Had the bbq carnitas sandwich, was great as well! Would still try something different next time! My girlfriend had the turkey blt, mentioned the turkey even though a huge portion was a bit slimey? Last min find and it was a gem. The pretzels were so good. I had the French dip roast beef sandwich with au jus and onion rings amazing. Mom had the chicken Cesar wrap with side salad. My wife had the fish and chips . The portion was huge. It was cooked perfectly, really crispy on the outside and flaky and tender on the inside. Fries were also delicious. I had the Shepard Pie served in a cast iron skillet. It was seasoned and cooked perfectly. Would definitely order again . I loved the set up of the pub. It was a little loud but it also was filled to capacity. We're almost immediately seated when we came in and a waiter served us within 5 minutes of being seated. I have ordered the same burger from this restaurant several times, always with American cheese, and it used to be consistently very good. However, during my last few online orders, I specifically requested--and paid for--American cheese, only to receive cheddar each time. While it may seem like a small detail, when the burger is nearly $20, I expect to receive exactly what I paid for. After the issue repeated itself, my husband contacted the restaurant. Instead of offering a simple apology, the staff member explained that their online vendor had not yet updated the website to reflect the new American cheese option and said he would reach out to have it corrected. Unfortunately, that does not resolve the fact that customers are being charged for an option that isn't being honored. For clarity, I ordered directly through their website, not a third-party service. I've enjoyed their food in the past, but repeated mistakes and lack of accountability have made the experience frustrating. I hope they take the necessary steps to update their system and ensure accuracy moving forward. read more

We came for lunch in lieu of our original choice which was the Aviary. We wanted to try something new and we were dressed pretty casual, so we came here. The place was beautiful inside, great pub atmosphere. The bartender, whose name I can't remember was so friendly, polite, and very helpful with the menu. He made some suggestions, not pictured, teriyaki tenders, which were incredible. We loved our entrees and the truffle fries were the perfect upgrade for both of us. We ate almost all of the food and had to take half of the burger home and some fries. The bartender was so kind to give us a bag of ice for our cooler so that our food didn't go bad while we were doing our errands. We will be back and let our friends know how great it was! read more

The Rookery Pub is a truly great place. Just arriving here you can see how charming & welcoming it is. I was worried about getting a table during peak Friday hours especially since the place it quite small but we were able to be seated without issue. They had a good selection of wine, cocktails, mass & craft beers to choose from. The menu was on the simple end but it was honestly hard to choose from since it all sounded so good. The California turkey was excellent. Massive portion & easily big enough to bring some home or to share it. The beef & bleu flat bread was less good but still quite delicious ( I am not really a fan of bleu cheese). I am already looking forward to going back. read more

This such a cute little eatery in Swansea. We came on a whim on a Friday and did not have to wait for a table for two. The decor and atmosphere were cozy and inviting. The espresso martini was good albeit on the sweeter side. The beers on draft were cold and reasonably priced. I got the beef and bleu flatbread as my main. The flavors were great but the bleu very much outweighed the beef. If the proportions were more balanced, they'd get a 5! The short rib was tender and makes me wish I got the short rib melt. This spot is about 10 min from my house and I will definitely be back, as well as trying their sister restaurant. All the food at neighboring tables looked delicious so we can't wait to try something new! read more

Pulled pork nachos had just a "whisper" of pork (as my wife put it), a $9 add on. Also, the only nonalcoholic beer they carry is Heineken 0.0, which is pretty bad. In 2026 there is no excuse for a bar manager not stocking one of the excellent nonalcoholic beers now offered by distributors --anything from Athletic is good, as is Sam Adams's NA hazy IPA. Chocolate chip cookie with ice cream was freshly baked and very good. Not an inexpensive lunch. read more

Been meaning to try The Rookery since they opened, and finally got around to it on this sunny, Saturday for lunch. The dining room is very pleasant, cozy and colonial. Menu has a bunch of stuff that sounds very good, and while deciding what to order we were talking about having to come back for dinner sometime too. We were shown our table and I went to the restroom, my wife ordered drinks for both of us - and when I got back, the waiter brought her drink and asked me what I wanted. So, already off to a great start with an inattentive server. I ordered appetizers at the same time as my drink - stuffed clams and a soft pretzel, which should have only needed quick heating so I figured they'd come out quickly. Our waiter did eventually come along to ask if we wanted refills, and on bringing me another Arnold Palmer took our order for mains. French Dip and Chicken Gyro. A little while LATER, he was walking past and I had to get his attention to ask when our food was coming. He came back with a story of the computer not printing the ticket - yeah whatever, if you were paying attention you would have noticed this without me having to ask when there should have been appetizers in front of me already. OK let's skip the appetizers and just focus on getting the main stuff, I don't want them if they're going to all land at the same time. Manager came by the table to apologize and say they'd get on it and get us our food. Yeah right. That took another half hour or so. I was ready to stand up and walk out when our waiter finally showed up with plates. Finally something to eat. Fries tasted ok - but digging into them, they weren't exactly hot. You left us waiting and couldn't be bothered to bring fresh hot fries? French Dip sandwich was not especially big, and was flat and soggy and only warm, not hot. I would have expected better at Applebee's, let alone for $19 at this place. Edible (and I was starving) but mediocre. Chicken Gyro was worse. The chicken itself was competently cooked and tender enough, but was barely warm, not hot. Pita was COLD, clearly having been heated once and cooled off. Assembly was messy and the salad parts cut unevenly; and the whole thing set in a sheet of tinfoil for some reason - most of the tzatziki was on the foil and had missed the sandwich. The pizza joint near our house does much better for way less than $17. In the end, our waiter said he'd see what he could do about the check - which came thru at least not trying to charge us for failed appetizers, but no compensation or discount. I count this as management letting us know they really don't care. Waiter - amateur and somewhat inattentive; Manager - useless and ultimately unhelpful; Kitchen - lazy and incompetent. We would have been better served at Chili's or Applebee's or even McDonald's. The Aviary, the more upscale restaurant that is the parent of the Rookery, was for a long time one of our favorite go-to places. Their quality has dropped some but last time there they were still pretty good. I expected better of their casual pub extension, but instead was disappointed and insulted. I do not plan to ever return to the Rookery, and I don't know if I'll be back to Aviary again either. read more

When this place was under construction, it was billed as a more casual and affordable alternative to The Aviary next door. I was very excited, and then I went for a drink. It is NOT affordable at all, with cheap American beers going for ~$8 and craft beers significantly more expensive. The pub itself is very nice, but small, with not many seats at the bar. There are better options in the area of you're looking for a pub to have a few drinks at. read more

Had one of the most amazing ribs here! Sadly though, the next time I went, they weren't on the menu anymore. I hear the chef changed. The first time I went, they had grand slam beers on tap, like Maine Beer Co's Dinner, among others. My significant other has celiac and they were able to accommodate accordingly. The Rookery is a cute and casual pub style restaurant located next to the Aviary. I was surprised when we went on a Friday night and was able to be seated right away ! We started things off with the goat cheese dip which was delicious and was served with crostini bread. For my entree I got the fish tacos with a side salad. Tacos were filled with plenty of fish and the raspberry vinaigrette on the salad was delicious. I also tried their espresso martini and loved it so much! I would say the only negative is that service is on the slower side we did wait a little bit until our waiter came over to take out drink order and also the food took a little long as well. But other than that I thought it was a nice laid back place with great food and drink! read more

Recently had lunch at the Rookery. It was my first time, and the ambiance and service and food were wonderful. However, our lunch was spoiled by the extremely uncomfortable chairs at the tables! Absolutely beautiful upscale pub style restaurant. With a variety of options - both pub specialties (like fish and chips) and unique offerings (ie deviled eggs) are available on the menu. The ambiance is so inviting and relaxing, it's easy to sit on the patio for a nice long dinner with cocktails here. The truffle goat cheese dip is a must and so is the lobster mac and cheese. All of the staff was incredibly kind and efficient in our visit as well. Jessica was a great server! Job well done. I highly recommend checking them out! read more

Went there for a Mother's Day brunch buffet. We asked to be seated near a window and they told us the tables were reserved. We did have reservations. So they sat us near where the servers go in and out, and near the door where people are seated outside which was a constant slamming of the door and air hitting my back every time someone went in or came out. The food was cold, prime rib was raw, and they wouldn't even serve you coffee. The first plate of food I got eggs, potatoes, pork loin, bacon, & potatoes. Only thing eaten was some bacon & potatoes. Told the server the food was cold, he said nothing. Friend told me the eggs were hot so went back after my friend had to bring the plates to the server because he was too busy chatting it up. Got eggs, bacon, potatoes, and seafood casserole. Seafood casserole and potatoes were cold but edible, and finally hot eggs! They had mini sweats, got a cookie and a donut hole. I swear they tasted right out of a cheap box from a cheap market. Paid $59.01 for bad service and bad food. It's too bad because I really wanted to like the place and it has decent reviews. read more

Pub-place ambiance. Went as a party of 4. We had apps, drinks and meals. We got in right away on Saturday night with no reservation. We got the popcorn shrimp and onion rings for an appetizer. Both were above average and not fried greasy. I had the clam chowder and spinach salad. The chowder was thick which I like and the candy pecans on the salad were a nice surprise. The other meals ordered were the fish tacos, cubano sandwich, and the fish and chips. All positive feedback for those meals. On top of the good food, the service from our waiter and a manager were top notch as we were checked in with a handful of times. All of the tables seemed to stay full while we were there. Only downside is there is not many options for vegetarians/vegans. I would return to try other options. read more

Was looking for a new place to try between Providence and Newport and found The Rookery on Yelp. Pleasant surprise and lived up to the Yelp reviews! The menu was diverse enough to satisfy most tastes between traditional pub food and slightly more creative fair. Ingredients were fresh, dishes were taste and a reasonable price for the portions. Venue was clean and updated. The staff was above average and attentive. Definitely will visit again. read more
