my daughter is at Texas A&M. she signed up in September of 2023 to have tutor help. She dropped class within the first week . She then went through the correct procedure for a refund from 99tutors in college station. I called a few days later and Brian said it had been received and the refund would be processed within 8 weeks . It is now February and still no refund but a lot of excuses . I have been patient and kind however I am now at the point where I will need to take legal action . I have submitted a request to headquarters four times with no response . This is horrible business practice as my daughter has the legal right to her refund for services not used . read more

RUN THE OTHER DIRECTION FROM 99 TUTORS!!! SCAM - SCAM -SCAM - If I could give ZERO STARS I WOULD!!!! THE PLACE IS ABSOLUTE WORST. The owner is THE MOST UNPROFESSIONAL and RUDE human I have ever encountered. The 1st time I called about being unsatisfied with the service provided to my freshman daughter, the owner started screaming at me saying things like" oh I know who your daughter is, she calls here all the time and I have emailed her" My daughter had called one time and there wasn't an answer & the only email recvd from 99 tutors was the receipt for payment. What kind of business owner yells at a client??!! Then my daughter called and he yelled at her too!! I tried to call again and there was never an answer. The company advertises that they will issue a refund for their terrible service and I PROMISE THEY WILL NOT. I have sent three letters requesting a refund, one registered mail, and STILL NOTHING. Call Tutor John in CSTAT if your college student needs help. I'm contacting the Texas Attorney General Consumer Protection Div to file a complaint!! I've already filed a complaint with the BBB and contacted the college to make them aware 99 Tutors is advertising on their campus. I'll probably never get my money back, but hopefully once people read how AWFUL this place is, I'll have saved them some money. read more

I am a Doctoral student writing my dissertation and thought I try some tutoring because it would be less demand on my time than teaching. On their website, they claim they prefer to pay by Paypal and that you will usually be paid within a week after they receive a 5 hr report. However, for some reason ( I have asked multiple times) they are NOT paying me by Paypal. When I submitted my first 5 hr report, I forgot to submit my Paypal email, so I was mailed a check. I received it in a timely manner. With my second report I clearly stated TWICE in the emailed report to paid by Paypal, but I was not paid this way. Instead, a check was mailed and after 4 weeks (and numerous emails), they said they reissued me a check- again NOT Paypal. I have also asked (highlighted & bold) in my third report to be paid by Paypal. I have had no update and it has been a week since I submitted my report. Right now I have little to no confidence that I will be paid for my work. - Do not use this company. - You never know who you will get as a tutor. I am have taught college classes since 2009, but 99tutors rely solely on the tutor to self-report if they can know a subject. They never verified with any of my references, if this was true. They do not check if your tutor has actual knowledge on the subject. Instead, they ask the student (who is requesting) tutoring to determine if they like their tutor. - They apparently do not care if their tutors are being paid in a timely manner. - They will take your money for tutoring when they cannot guarantee you a tutor. To get a refund you need to snail mail a letter and receipt and it can take 8 weeks. read more

Found this service through advertising at Blinn, and by mention through fellow classmates. I was assigned a tutor but felt it wasn't a good match and requested to be switched which they did without question. My new tutor is kind and attentive. I would say that the emails (main source of communication from 99Tutors) were mostly always sent to my spam folder which did cause some confusion/delay. Overall for private tutoring I would recommend for the price and quality. read more

I've been a tutor for a long time, working with different tutoring service institutes all around the world. This one is the worst and most unprofessional service I've ever seen. First of all, all the students and tutors should be aware that they charge students $40 to $45 per hour, and give the tutor only $10 an hour, meaning they take 75% of the total price. In other institutes, they usually take up to %33. Secondly, they lie about the payment all the time. I submitted my report to get paid two months ago, and I have not yet got paid anything. I emailed them and they responded very impolitely and unprofessionally. Looks like they don't even want to pay at all. I'll most likely have to get a lawyer and sue them. read more

My son tutored in June and did not get his pay until October, despite his timely reports. What takes 4 months to process? Tried being polite, tried threatening with Texas Workforce Commission claim, nothing could make them budge. Do NOT use this company. Unethical. Rude. Unprofessional. The saddest part is one of the students wanted him to continue tutoring and had prepaid 99 Tutors. 99Tutors is a phenomenal source of supplementary help. For those particular college classes that seem to give the most trouble, 99Tutors has tutors who have taken the course and made A's in them. The benefit of this is that you not only get the information you need, but you also get test-taking skills and first-hand advice on how to approach certain topics. I am writing this post because I am concerned that many Texas A&M students need to use tutoring services in College Station, and from my experience, I do NOT recommend 99Tutors. I bought a large package of tutoring services for my son. After they were not able to get a proper tutor for him, I requested a refund on March 17, 2014. They said that it would take up to 8 weeks to make the refund transaction. I e-mailed them several times but they said that: "We have all of your required documentation , all refunds are being process . Due to the semester ending reports for tutor payments took first priority." So, I kept waiting. However, when I had not received the refund by June 5, 2014. I finally decided to call my credit card company and made the refund claim through them. read more

Terrible experience. My tutor didn't know what she was doing and when I told the owner she didn't teach me anything, he yelled at me on the phone telling me that it was my fault because everyone has different teaching strategies and I obviously was doing something wrong if I didn't understand.
