Checked out this neighborhood bar in LaSalle for cheap drinks. It certainly is cheap and looks it. 9th Street Pub is one of those bars located close to houses so it gets lots of regulars. Gets most of its customers from around. They have some pretty typical bar food if you like fried things. Bar and grill, with most of the focus being on the beers and cocktails. It's just best to not take chances and play it safe. The bar looks pretty divy from the outside, and rest assured it's like that on the inside too. Amazing that it's in the middle of a residential neighborhood. There must be noise complaints one can imagine about the crazy patrons. It's about $3 for the cheapest drinks. There's often specials including on beers and wells. Food menu has greasy favorites. It's about $8 for a burger or a sandwich. Loads of toppings. Big menu but most of it is meaty. There's a few things made with avocado and sprouts, but usually in combination with bacon or something. For sure it has a lot of choices if you're looking for typical bar food. It's located on the street it's named for obviously. They're even open for breakfast, so you can get your drinking on early, while getting eggs and whatever. read more

On a long road trip, decided to catch lunch in LaSalle. Reviews were positive especially regarding food and service. They weren't wrong. John the owner was very friendly and in addition to great stories to share, he also talked my brother and I into ordering a damn good Reuben. I didn't think you could find places anymore with great prices....but I could have ordered nearly anything off the menu and paid twice as much in my hometown. You would never expect this establishment in North-Central Illinois to be a "destination"...but, set your GPS, wind through the streets of LaSalle, and be open to a great service and great food! Be sure to ask if Owner John is there (I bet he always is if he didn't already find you) and ask him about the specials (and maybe anything else he has been cooking up in the kitchen). We randomly found 9th Street Pub after touring the City of LaSalle's Celebration of Lights (another new tradition) on our way home to Bloomington. While I was definitely not totally sold on the bar setting (especially with our 13 y/o daughter with us), John greeted us right away and made us feel welcome with his hospitality and insight into the menu. We all got delicious apps, me a Reuben (which was awesome and a true classic - not typical bar food), and my wife got a short-rib special (that you won't find anywhere else in a Pub)!! My wife and I will be back for sure - when we can have a few drinks, play some video poker or pool/darts, and maybe get lucky to have a DJ spinning - like who was setting-up on that random night at 9th Street Pub! We were visiting from out of town and decided to hit up a local hole in the wall bar. What a great choice we made. The owner John was friendly, personable and easy to talk to. He made great suggestions on what to order. The Italian sausage soup was amazing. It was a great accompaniment to my very tasty bloody mary. We spent $70 on 25 wings, 2 fully loaded nachos, and an order of Buffalo mushrooms just for our whole meal to be disappointing the chicken was slimy and undercooked our nacho chips were stale and had been nuked in the microwave with cheese then all the toppings were just thrown on top the mushrooms were cold and we waited over an hour for this... Contacted them to see if we could get a refund and for the past three days it's been a run around trying to contact the owner finally get ahold of him today just for him to say basically he's been in business over 40 years and his cook knows what's he's doing so the only thing he can offer is a shitty certificate for food I will never eat read more

On a trip to Starved Rock, we stumbled across 9th Street Pub... We stopped in for lunch after hiking and had a variety of food from bang bang fried pickles, chicken, spaghetti & meatballs, burgers (4 of us, not just me...) The bartender who served us was awesome - we ran him a little bit (not intentionally) and he was nothing but nice and helpful. The owner/chef chatted with us and treated us to a bowl of poblano soup that was very tasty - flavorful, not too spicy... We would return in a heartbeat and will, next time we're in town. read more

Very good food with an amazing variety of selections - 12 different hamburgers, fried chicken, spaghetti, raviolis (actually tortellini), soups sandwiches and multiple specials every day. The selection of beers and ciders offers a wide choice of both the standards and craft brews. The bartender staff is always friendly, attentive, and helpful. Its a great local spot for lunch or early dinner. Late in the evening (9:00 pm or later - which is late for me anyway) they have live music from bluegrass to blues to hard rock. So its reasonably quiet (you can talk!) during the day and early evening and it can get loud at night. The owner is almost always there and is very friendly and helpful. In summer he hosts bike riding bar tours of La Salle - Peru that are fun and invigorating (lots of hills in La Salle - Peru) and are fund raisers for local charities. So... we were staying at the grizzly resort while on a trip to starved rock. We order a burger, fried fish, and fried mushrooms with French fries. Our French fries weren't delivered with our food. I called to ask for them and the person told me they'd bring them, but they didn't. My burger had raw spots in it, and it looked weird. I'm sure they meant well, and the delivery person was very nice, but I'm pissed about the fries. I'm sure you can understand. read more

I went here with my sister and her boyfriend. We ordered a deep fried onion as an appetizer and when it got to our table it was covered in flour to the point where it was not edible to us. We also ordered fried chicken wraps, they looked like they literally threw anything together and made it a wrap. It was supposed to be fried but they put grilled chicken. I would not recommend. I love bar food but this food looked disgusting. This place is a bar and it reeks like cigarettes so much I don't know how anyone can actually enjoy a meal here. read more

9th St. Pub is okay. I come here every few weeks for a drink during the week because I can't stand the crowd on the weekend and how loud and crowded it gets in there. You get a good drink in here if you tip your bartender appropriately. I really like the bartenders in this bar. They are very friendly and are willing to help you find some music that you would enjoy listening to. Some of the people who hang out in here can be kind of seedy but you can expect that in any bar. So far so good for this place. I hear their food during the day is awesome though but I've never had any of it myself but give it a try if you want somewhere to eat. read more

We order delivery from here almost every Wednesday night. The food is always terrific, as is the service we receive when placing the order and the service from the delivery driver. Many times, John delivers our dinner. He is a very gracious and a nice person. He couldn't be more appreciative. John often delivers lunch to my dad at his office and is always great. John is all about pleasing the customer. You don't always see an owner, like John, that is so tuned in to his business. This place does it right. No complaints. Staff is great, owner is great, etc... I've eaten at this place several times and each time I ordered fish. The food is always delicious and fresh but the service has a lot to be desired. Theres one blonde female server there that should definitely not have a job that requires dealing the public. She's rude, obnoxious and down right unprofessional. I decided that the food is not worth the trouble of dealing with her problems so I wont be going back, there are too many places to eat where I can get good service and food at the same time. So i'll be going somewhere that appreciates my business. Each time I visited I made a point to tip the cook and not the waitress. I would have given 3 stars if not for the crappy service. read more
