This place was a surprise to us! They were packed on a Saturday night. We had to wait about 45 minutes at 6:30. They do take reservations. The inside was modern and comfortable. The cocktails were good. Closer to urban prices. The potato skins were good with a nice crisp. You re r bread which was all good: sourdough, focaccia and crackers. The spinach salad was also delicious! The prime rib was excellent. You are able to get horseradish if you want. It comes with a side. We tried the garlic mashed and it was the only thing I didn't enjoy for the evening. We tried the walnut custard, was tasty. The chocolate peanut butter dessert was also good, but sweet! read more

We enjoyed a lovely meal at the Uptown Grill while staying at the Grand Bear resort a few miles away. We celebrated my sister's 40th birthday here, and it felt like a solid place for that experience. We made a reservation, and the restaurant was bustling when we arrived. The host greeted my sister with a happy birthday right away which was nice. The vibe of the restaurant was very nice- clearly updated with lovely lighting. We even had fireworks during dinner due to a festival outside which was fun. We started our meal with a round of cocktails- I had a smores margarita which was good- everyone else enjoyed the apple butter old fashioned. We had the saganaki as our app, and the gents had the French onion and tomato soups. For entrees we had the chicken milanese, a burger, a scallop pasta special, and the broiled whitefish. Of the four, the broiled whitefish was by far the favorite! If we lived in the area I think we would come back for a special occasion. Vibes and service were great! read more

I was excited to add this restaurant to our roster when coming into town to visit my brother-in-law but unfortunately was sadly disappointed. The ambiance was great - lighting was moody and nicely decorated. Food was actually fine - not incredible with some items better than others. Pleasantly surprised by the seared tuna nachos and felt left wanting more for other items. What made this visit so terrible was the service. Asking for a bit of feedback/opinion between two drinks is something my husband often does at many restaurants domestically and internationally. Our waitress's response was "I don't know that's new and the other one people do order sometimes" with an annoyed tone. After ordering and eating appetizers, we had to ask to place our entree order. The waitress was not attentive and I heavily emphasize NOT. I believe customer service training is needed for her and if her behavior is any indication of the rest of the staff I'd recommend training for all of them. Highly discourage you from trying this place which is unfortunate as this small town doesn't have much to offer. This spot only gets tow stars because of the tuna otherwise this is a strong 1 star establishment at best. read more

I was in the area and was looking for a good meal. I asked the hotel staff if they recommended a place in particular and they told me about Uptown Grill so I checked it out and I am so happy I did! First of all they have such a nice ambiance inside and they are welcoming from the get go. I was seated in the patio area which I enjoyed with the weather and breeze. My server was kind and attentive throughout my whole dinner. What I had: Entree: Broiled Whitefish Parmesan with mashed potatoes-(oven roasted parmesan crusted whitefish fillet with lemon caper butter) SUCH A DELIGHT. It was so juicy throughout and the flavor was beautiful combined with the Parmesan crust. The mashed potatoes were well made- salted perfectly and creamy. I literally enjoyed every. single. bite. of this!!!!!! I still think of this meal to this day! Drinks: Malibu Bay Breeze- definitely a well made drink- I enjoyed it thoroughly and it accompanied well with my meal. 10/10 recommend this spot- it will not disappoint. Uptown is a must when we are in town visiting family:-) they have so many great options to choose from & everything is always good! My current favorites are the spicy Thai peanut chicken or the pan seared yellowfin tuna. If you're into oysters, they have really good oysters here as well! (can be hard to come by in the area). We've always had excellent service here! The ambiance is classy. I don't believe they have a strict dress code, but try to dress nicely. For parking, there is free street parking. read more

Located in the downtown area of LaSalle and street parking was readily available when I visited. There's outdoor seating, but I decided on dining in since it was a scorcher of a day. The staff was very friendly and quick to seat us. The horseshoe booths were so comfy. I love the lighting and vibe in this place! Started with cocktails, which were good though I didn't taste much alcohol in my drink. I don't see grouper sandwiches in these parts too often so I was excited to order it. I wasn't disappointed. I was blown away by the sheer size of my sandwich on a brioche bun. It was battered and fried to perfection and it took quite a bit of time finishing it! They also offer really upscale options like ribeye and some beautiful sides, like sautéed mushrooms and shrimp dishes, which I didn't try but I was impressed with the menu. I had the French onion soup, which was delicious, and the mixed salad with the Gorgonzola and a sweet dressing which was very nice as well. My son had a hamburger which was a little bit overcooked, but they didn't ask how we wanted it so that's not really their fault - he should have said medium. We weren't planning on going and having a fine dining lunch so when we walked in and realized it was such a nice place, I got worried, however, I didn't have to because they do a really nice job of giving mid price options. We went here last evening after a boat ride on the Illinois River. We were a group of 8. This is a hidden gem. From the time we were greeted until the time we left, it was a wonderful experience. Recently visited last month and just had to rave about this place! I started at the bar with a cocktail before dinner with my wife and the bartenders were excellent! The blonde bartender and guy bartender were great. Then when we went to our table, our server was phenomenal. I believe her name was Addy or aubrey? Delightful find. We never knew the restaurant existence existed until it popped up on Yelp. Great atmosphere and cocktails too. We just had an appetizer and salad but were very happy. Cesar salad had capers and sun dried tomatoes. Dressing was with a little tang to it. Only downside is no pepper on the table. She DID give us a sliver of cheesecake with a sparkler for our anniversary, so she got THAT right. Other servers were very attentive. Ambiance very nice inside. Have been coming here for years for our Anniversary, traveling with our dog. Made reservations and was told they were still dog friendly but didn't mention no longer have outdoor tables and chairs, only small couches and a coffee table, so NOT DOG FRIENDLY unless you're just having drinks. Stopped by after a day of being out and about in Starved Rock and had a nice experience. The inside is decorated close to formal, but people were free to dress however. Our waitress was friendly and accommodating with the larger group. The menu is really big, so there is sure to be something for everybody. My side of the table got "shrooms" as appetizers, which were deep fried mushrooms with cheese inside, and a horseradish sauce for dipping. Tasty and plenty to share. My cousin had his wedding reception in their banquet room on Saturday. Everything was absolutely beautiful and the food was very very good. We had hors d'oeuvres to choose from which was a buffet style. I really enjoyed the crab rangoon, chicken and cheese quesadillas, meatballs and the gorgonzola chips. For my entrée I had the Chicken Alfredo. I really enjoyed the sauce they used, it was delicious. The dinner came with a salad, garlic mashed potatoes and vegetables. My fiancé had the broccoli and cheddar stuffed chicken breast and his came with a salad, garlic mashed potatoes and veggies. He said his food was delicious he really enjoyed it.
