Cabin Fever is a family favorite. My immediate and extended family all love their food. My favorite item to order is the deep fried monte crisco sandwich which is deep fried dough with ham,turkey and cheese. It always comes with powdered sugar and a raspberry jam to dip it in. This sandwich is always a 10/10! It's very popular and delicious. They also have excellent fish, fries and my dad and grandma love their jumbo pork tenderloin. This is a great place to watch a sporting event and they also have slot machines where you can play. It's a nice restaurant with good vibes! The service is good, but they get extremely crowded at lunch and dinner rush. read more

OMG, good foods and great service. We stopped by for dinner and had a meal and then some. Our server was Fran, and she was just simply amazing. We ordered the combo basket with mushrooms, cauliflower and onion rings and these were some of the best fried appetizers that we enjoyed in some time. Then we ordered burgers, and these were monsters with all the fixings, grilled to perfection. They even grilled the onions with jalapenos for my burger. Cute place, excellent service. Menu options just so so but it *IS* a bar and grill. Lot of fried food. Place is kind of off the beaten path and if you blink you might miss it. Friday early afternoon and it was packed. Our waitress was hustling. Didn't get her name unfortunately. My mom was pleased with everything so all is good today. She ordered chicken salad croissant but they are out of chicken salad so she got tuna salad. Came with a generous side of fries. I got the grilled Cajun shrimp salad. A lot of pieces of shrimp nice and temperature hot, not too spicy. The salad was a bit wilty iceberg. We also shared the homemade onion rings which was an enormous platter of the biggest onion rings on the planet. I only ate one because I didn't want to spoil my appetite. The food was good. The bathrooms are something to check out. They are so cute! They look like little log cabins and have adorable country decor on the walls. A fun place for dining but oddly enough this sports bar is closed on Sundays (when most sports are on?) Prices are reasonable and the specials board was good today (lobster bisque was soup of the day, cod sandwich and fish n chips also on special for less than $12). read more

If I could give this place 10 Stars I would! I had to travel an hour to Peru for eye appointments. We went to a couple of places to eat in Peru.. until we ate at Cabin Fever. Everything we have eaten was fantastic! The service was on point and super friendly. From soup to entrees... you can't go wrong!!! I do not go to Peru anymore for my eye appointments... but certainly need to get back there to eat. read more

On a return visit here I decided to try the pork tenderloin sandwich with fries and was pleasantly surprised to see that it was absolutely huge! Nice, crunchy breading on the outside, tender on the inside. My dining companion had the tuna melt on marbled rye, and was quite pleased with it . read more

Do not go to this restaurant!!!! The customer service and basic human kindness is disgusting!!!! We are traveling across country and blew a tire, we had to wait 90 minutes for roadside assistance and wanted an air conditioned place to have a meal. We are traveling with a small cat in a car carrier who we had taken into several restaurants on our trip including Applebee's and Randy's Family Restaurant both of which were very kind and accommodating. However, when I called this establishment and asked if we could dine with our cat in the cat carrier, we were turned away. Very rude, unkind, establishment!!! Shame on you! This Eatery is a diamond in the rough that can be easily overlooked. On Tuesday I decided to sample their tacos and was instantly impressed. Each one is like a Mike Tyson ready to knock you out! But I would recommend adding ranch and you'll go further in the delightful department. Their wings are probably the largest I've seen and they tasted great. Stopped in for a 2nd eating visit on a Monday afternoon... Clean business and super fast service! Solid menu with enough choices for about anyone. We opted for the fried Monte Cristo sandwich and Pot Roast sandwich with fries. It was taco special day...$1.75 each chicken and beef. We got one of each. Monte Cristo was good...pot roast was lacking...not much meat and several large hunks of fat... disappointing and wouldnt order again especially for $13. Tacos were alright ..pretty hefty sized for price but as a heads up chicken is dry. Would return...good for area...nice dining room area separated from bar. read more

Went in there the other day for some lunch and it was great! We sat at the bar and promptly got greeted. We got onion rings, and the bartender threw in some house-made creamy garlic dressing for dipping which I highly recommend!! We came here on a Friday night, shortly after 6:00pm. We had a group of eight (six adults and two kids). The place was busy with very few tables open. Not surprising since the parking lot was rather full. We had to wait maybe ten minutes for a couple tables to open up to fit us. We were then seated quickly and provided menus. The menu consists of appetizers, salads, sandwiches, dinners, kids meals, and desserts. Lots of things to choose from and many sounding great. They also had three specials for the night which happened to all be seafood of some sort. I chose the Pot Roast Sandwich with the cold salad as my side. We ordered a hot dog/applesauce and mac and cheese/applesauce meal for the kids. There were two orders for the chicken, both family style. Another order was the deep fried cod fish special and the remaining person ordered a Reuben sandwich. I asked that the kids meals be brought out first and that wasn't a problem. The kids meals did come out first. The hot dog was huge! There was also plenty of mac and cheese. The breadsticks that came with the mac and cheese wasn't that great. But our kids loved everything else. The adult meals took a while to come out. I'm guessing due to the chicken as our waitress did come update us that the chicken had two more minutes. My Pot Roast Sandwich was really moist and delicious! Definitely something I'd get again. The people who ordered the chicken said the breading was a bit overdone but the chicken meat was good. The report out for the deep fried cod was it was overdone and dry. The Reuben was fine. So, maybe stick to their sandwiches? The service was good and they even brought the kids free ice cream at the end. Definitely a friendly place. read more

We were in Peru and were looking for a place for lunch and saw Cabin Fever on Yelp. I started with the chicken tortellini soup and my guest had the steak and potato soup, both were delicious. I had the Monti Crisco Sandwich and fries and my guest had the Bratwurst Burger. I will definitely be back. There was a sign saying that they will be closed on Sundays, so call first on Sunday. read more

I have been to the Illinois Valley at least 15-18 times over the last 3 years or so and I had no idea this location existed. I'm glad I did a little google/yelp search to check out other Tenderloins than the Igloo or Softtails. Now so far as the ambiance of this Bar & Grill, I'm a fan. I enjoyed how there was seating or a big bar to watch a game as there a good amount of TV's to watch. So I dug in and ordered my 7&7 and ordered their Pork Tenderloin sandwich. As seen by the picture, the sandwich is a beast! Now while it's a beast, the flavor was minimal. Perhaps adding some spice or something in the batter when breading these would've made this sandwich really stand out. However, I was disappointed in the lack of flavor in this Tenderloin. The fries were great and crispy but I will say the lack of quality ketchup (and mustard) really was another issue. I'm a Heinz fan and can deal with Hunt's if necessary but the ketchup and mustard were some off brand I never heard of and looked like it was purchased in bulk from some restaurant depot. The taste of those condiments were disappointing. The staff were friendly but in the future I would come here for drinks and perhaps run to Walmart and bring my own condiments. read more

I'm giving this joint a 2 out of 5 only because of the terrible service today. The gal with brown hair, green Cubs shirt, black yoga looking pants...she was HORRIBLE. She wouldn't let us pay cash for our drinks. Why? Because we're reviewing the menu to see if we wanted to eat and she saw that. And she said she would add our drinks to our food tab. Well how did she know we would eat food or not? Shouldn't she just take our method of payment and move on? Not happy about this. THEN. We ordered another round of Rum and Cokes. She didn't give us a clean glass. How do I know? Because I had wrapped my glass with a napkin. When I got the drink back, there was napkin on my drink. HOW UNSANITARY! I went to this restaurant because my friends were here and wanted to enjoy the food. Okay. So, we ordered at 7:30. Did not get food until an hour later. In that hour, people's food got messed up. ZU says, "Don't come here." JT says, "huh." AK says, "terrible service." JB says, "very slow and forgetful." RO says, "this place can kick rocks." Then after we get our food, two of us get news that our orders were not put in. They said five minutes, as I'm typing it's been more than five. We even left one person behind because we knew he couldn't handle the wait. He decided to enjoy beverages back home. Sitting here for almost two hours, I don't blame him. Driving down I-80 East and looking for a good place to eat late on a Wednesday night, I pulled up Yelp and searched the areas we'd be driving through on our way home to the south suburbs of Chicagoland. I came across Cabin Fever in Peru. Good reviews; lots of mentions of the Pot Roast Sandwich and it was close to/just off the highway. I called at 930pm to find out they were open until 11pm that night; so we decided to stop in to give them a try. The restaurant/bar is hidden back off the main drag behind the Shell gas station and between some name brand hotels. We walked in and were greeted by a friendly bartender who immediately asked if we needed to see a menu and if we'd like a drink? Yes & Yes. There was a sparse crowd of about 7-8 patrons. There's also video poker/slot machines if you're into that as well off in a side room. We both settled on the Pot Roast Sandwich among with the "house specialty" Breaded Mushrooms and Breaded Onion Rings. Both the Mushrooms & Onion Rings we're top notch, some of the best I've had, in fact, even more points to this place that they're a bar essentially serving food and the fare is VERY good. As for the pot roast sandwich; again, very good. Meat was hot and tasty. Good flavor with the onions & melted cheese. Total bill for food and 4 beers was under $40. If you're in the area and want a beer or drink with some good food, I'd highly recommend giving Cabin Fever a try. Friendly staff, cheap drinks and really good food! read more

We have stayed in the hotel across the parking lot several times and have always wondered about this restaurant. We have been there twice now and have come away satisfied both times. The food was good and the portion sizes were large. This is not exotic stuff, just basic American-style food that is cooked reasonably well. Sometimes the staff seemed a bit overwhelmed - both times we've been there it has been busy. We'll definitely return. read more
