We had the mushrooms as an appetizer, which were fantastic, clearly homemade (battered/fried). I had chili Cheese Dogs (with onions) and fries. The hot dogs were amazingly thick and juicy, the chili was very good, and the home-cut fries were delicious. Best Chili dog. My wife had the fish sandwich, which she thought was just ok, somewhat overcooked, but she also loved the fries (and mushrooms). Service was great. We ate outside to live music with a view of the river, although hot (90), it was enjoyable. It would have been 5 stars if the fish sandwich hadn't been overcooked. read more

Came here on a Saturday night. It was pretty busy but still had tables available. Parking is a little difficult as there isn't enough street parking. The service was friendly and efficient. They immediately fixed a problem with the meal. There was live music that was pretty loud. The food is just okay to me. I had the grilled southwest chicken salad. The salad was fresh but the chicken was a little chewy. My family also tried the meatloaf and thought it was very good. I tried the garlic Parmesan fries and thought they were fresh and hot but didn't love them. The prices for the drinks and food were very reasonable. read more

Very well earned reputation for their fried chicken. One of the best wings ever eaten. Had 18 of the garlic Parmesan, for 3 of us. Very large wings. Very crunchy. Just out of the frier. Onion rings are homemade and very good as well. French fries also good. Nice place. Went there on a Sunday in September. Nice patio inside. Clean. Great service. We visited Riverfront with another family after a long day of hikes and pool, and our group of 9 was starving. We had a truly great experience - the appetizers came out fast, as well as our drinks. The food was delicious! We all loved the cheese curds. The kids loved the mac and cheese bites and cheese sticks. We enjoyed the French onion soup, the wraps were great, the kids burgers were massive, and the garlic parm fries were a must! I had a huge piece of fried cod on my fish sandwich that was scrumptious and good tartar sauce. The men enjoyed their old fashioneds, and my friends first marg was amazing so i ordered one but it tasted off (like dish soap). Since it was my only drink and I rarely drink I asked for it to be remade but it tasted worse the second time; I suspect the limes juiced were past their prime. Everything was so good. We brought stuff for the kids to do but they had tvs everywhere and really good live music so we didn't need it. Would definitely recommend!!!! read more

Stopped in the LaSalle-Peru area on the way home from Starved Rock. We just chose a random restaurant we found online. It was Sunday afternoon. There was a band performing outside. Most of their seating is outside. The indoor area is actually very small. The atmosphere was lively and friendly. The waitstaff (Mya) was friendly and constantly on the move. Unlike a lot of other restaurants we've been to, they had a decent number of staff working, so there were no excessive waits. We had cheese curds for an appetizer. They were solid. I should note especially that they were NOT salty, which is a very common complaint I have about cheese curds. They were served with ranch dressing and also a pasta meat sauce. My wife had a veggie burger. She liked it and appreciated that it was not especially salty and the bun was not greasy. I had some of her sweet potato fries and can attest these were good. My kid had chicken tenders with fries. He didn't eat any it because he filled up on the cheese curds. I ended up eating his meal and the chicken tenders were excellent. The meat was very tender, the batter was light, crisp, and again, not salty at all. I had the day's special which was an open-faced beef sandwich with corn and mashed potatoes. While it didn't knock my socks off, it was all very good. The corn was cooked to the point that it was starting to caramelize, which was an unexpected nice touch. Even after eating my own meal and my kid's, I felt overstuffed, but did not feel gross from too much grease or salt. Prices were reasonable for the quality and quantity of food. Food: If you've had fried chicken in this area then you know it's distinct from other parts of IL. To me it's salty, greasy and flavorless so I don't understand the appeal. If you do like that kind of chicken, then they probably nailed it. It take about 40 minutes to come out on a Monday night. Kids meal mac & cheese looked like it was just Kraft from a box. Ambience: TVs everywhere so not a great environment to have kids focused on eating or engaging with the family. It's a bummer that the only source of natural light in the eating area is blocked off because it's the entrance to the video gaming section. Service: Friendly and responsive. Four of us stopped here for lunch on our way downstate. Food was just fine (we all had wraps), but the beverages were an issue. I ordered a fountain diet cola as there was no option in cans or bottles. It didn't taste right, which I find is frequently the case with fountain beverages. I don't know if it's the maintenance of the equipment or just the wrong mix of syrup to seltzer... No fresh brewed ice tea, just from the fountain. Water it was, and it was awful too. I ended up with a White Claw. FYI- Fries were an add on, and there's a service charge for using a credit card. Service was good, prices reasonable, the outside eating area spacious. With a stage for live music and a sand volleyball court, it looks like it could be a fun place to hang out at night. It is in the waterfront, but it's not situated so as to actually see it when seated at a table. read more

The management and cook staff must have changed because it was the worst food experience I've had here. It was either undercooked or burnt or just plain wrong. Nothing seemed fresh, it was either frozen prepackaged or sat under a heat lamp. For almost $50 for two (no alcohol), we were Very disappointed. The sign on the patio said no smoking yet there were several people doing just that and flicking their butts off the side. I ordered the friend chicken half....worst chicken I've ever eaten in life! It wasn't cut up and my waffle fries were cold. Are you supposed to cut up your chicken with a dull butter knife that's provided? And the batter was greasy and fell off the chicken. A group of my friends and I went in one night after we had dinner down the road. We got carded when we all ordered drinks, and the bar tender under her breath said "FAKE" this one is "FAKE", i'm not serving the two on the end. Then checked another person in our group and said it was fake. We all are 23 and 24 years old lol. I have been served there multiple times before and had no issues. It was ridiculous and she made all of us feel stupid like we were trying to get away with something ?? We won't be coming back here anytime soon, we did still get served, but we had to put up a fight about it?? The bartender then told me to calm down and that I was still going to get served. I proceeded to say, my ID is not fake so not too sure why you would say that. It is important to make sure your workers can actually tell the difference between a REAL and a FAKE ID. Just because you work at another bar that has fake ID's being used "all the time" doesn't mean everywhere you go there are gonna be fakes that are trying to be used?? Very poor service.
