This was my first time going here. The owner is very sweet and she was quick and did a good job. With that said... I had two skirts hemmed. One was two later. While I did not ask for the price, I didn't think it would be an issue because as a shorter person, I have a LOT of my clothes taylored. When she told me the price I nearly fell over. $80. For heming two skirts. Absolutely not. I paid her because I wanted my skirts back and I did not ask the price, but I will never go there again. $40 for a simple hem is out of the question. read more

The little Korean lady is the sweetest person, she made an amazing alteration for my girlfriend and gave us an great price for a 3 day rush.

I started a new job that requires jeans, and being a big & short boy, I had to make sure I had good fitting jeans. Right after going to Levi's I went straight to A-1 alterations, to get it altered. It is in a non-busy area with lots of parking but it close to a bar and karaoke bar. Upon walking in, she told me to go to the fitting room and put the pants on. She went straight into it, and it took like 5 mins just to figure out where to alter. It was so fast. She's such a sweet lady, and deserved nothing but the best. You can tell she loves what she does and she's pro at it. The shop itself is just a really small shop, and gives such a nurturing & home feel. She understand English very well, but you could tell it's not her first language, so please if you go there be prepared & be respectful. She told me the pants will be done in a week, but I told her I'd pay her extra to get it done in 4 days. She got it done in 3 days, and she refused to take my tip, but I gave it to her anyways. She's so sweet & I know she's doing this not just for her but her family so please be generous with tipping, she deserves it. I'll be back with more jeans and others soon! **EDIT** after reading some of the negative reviews about her speaking, I just want to add my opinion on that. It is obvious she isn't from here, so her English will be broken. I just want to say, MOST of these alteration shops consists of people that moved to America for a better life, please keep in mind that they're doing jobs that your family can't and won't do. That's how they make a living. If your review is on her English, go learn how to alter clothes & open a business or find another store. But putting a 1 star for that is crazy. It takes basic knowledge to put together a few words that she says and make a sentence. She is a respectful & talented woman, and she doesn't need any of the negativity. I didn't have a good experience here. I came to this place based on a recommendation where I got my daughter's prom dress. The lady here did not seem like she wanted to help, she kept saying "it's too much work" when we asked about getting her dress hemmed and tightened around the waist. I noticed she was doing similar things with other customers, making suggestions that were easier to do instead of what would've looked the best. I had no problem paying for the work, but she was reluctant to help after telling me she could help over the phone. After standing there for nearly 2hrs we got nothing done. She seemed more than happy to help customers who had simple requests, another issue is she kept telling people she "had no idea how much the job would cost" no estimate, nothing. I'm not sure where the great reviews are coming from here she seemed to laugh at people for no reason when they made requests (which was weird). Needless to say we found another place not too far away they were able to knock out the measurements, get me a quote, and timeline of when the dress would be done. Maybe this lady was just overwhelmed with prom and weddings, but it wasn't a good experience at all. read more

The owner did a wonderful job altering my bridesmaids dress that had three layers. She had it ready in less than a week and the stitching was well-done! A heads up: she does not speak a lot of English. BUT she does a great job regardless of language barriers because she is so talented. Found this shop through a referral in my fb moms group and I am so happy with the couple of items I had repaired by this sweet woman. I dropped them off for minor repairs and she had them ready in just a couple of days and only charged me $12 - such great work I felt like I robbed her at that price. Not sure what her name is but she's awesome. The location is right off Pac Hwy and the entrance is a bit tricky. I like to enter off 312th and drive to the back parking lot. I've already been there twice and she's done a great job with our pants. I love that I'm supporting local businesses and on the plus, she's Asian. She measured and makes sure the length is to your liking before you leave. The turn around time isn't that long either. I just dropped off pants to be altered on Saturday and I'm going to pick up on Tues. She's closed on Sundays. The jeans to get altered are only $6 each. This price is awesome! Since moving to Federal Way and being extremely short, I needed to find a go-to person to get my clothes hemmed. I've been coming here for almost two years now and the lady that owns this business is so reliable! She has a quick turn around and her prices are great. She's so great that it has encouraged me to come back to not only get special occasion clothes hemmed but also anything else that is too long. Let me start out by saying I wanted to give 4 starts initially. The reason is because the price wasn't quite what I was expecting. However, she gets the extra star for putting customers first. I went in on a Monday afternoon needing alterations for two suit pants I needed to begin wearing on Wednesday. She said the wait is about a week, but when I told her about my situation, she said she can have it done by the end of the business day the next day for a small extra charge. It was $5 more per each pair of pants, so I thought it was reasonable. Now, probably for the most important part. The pants fit well with the fit and look I was asking for. She turned an ugly pair of loose looking dress pants into a great slim looking one. She's also pleasant to talk to and is kind. I'd recommend her services, just be aware her pricing is higher than what I'm used to seeing. read more

What an amazing find!! Kind of a sketchy hole in the wall location, but most definitely amazing. I took a gown in that I needed to be hemmed up sooo much and multiple layers and the little old lady (Korean I believe) was able to help me right away. It took her 4 days to get my work done which was so reasonable seems every other shops I had contacted said it would take on minimum 1-2 weeks. Her work was perfect and you couldn't even tell it was altered. Oh, and the little old lady was absolutely hilarious, she made the whole experience fun and pain free. Amazing service, amazing outcome! This was my first time getting a formal dress altered, so I was nervous about what to expect - but what a treat! The experience was pleasant from the moment I stepped into the small store to the day I went back to pick up my dress. The owner (Jenny) was very patient in listening to what I (thought was) needed, explained the different changes she had in mind to make me look my absolute best, and was quick in the turnaround and delivery of the final product. I took in a Pucci like skirt with a semi-matching blouse that was too tight. I had a great party to go to, and she worked magic on that outfit. She took a three inch length off the bottom of the skirt and made to triangles on both sides of the shirt to match them together and made the shirt fit perfectly. It looks like a vintage outfit. I wish I had a photo with me to show. She is as fine a craftsperson seamstress of the likes I haven't seen. If she were in Los Angeles, she would be impossible to get into. read more

I cannot recommend this place! We went in to have my daughters prom dress hemmed. I could barely understand a word the woman (I assume owner) was saying. Her English was extremely broken. She basically ended up saying the dress was too much to alter (it would be a full days work) and she suggested buying a new dress (at least I think that's what she was saying??) I'm actually glad she didn't want to do our dress because I would of been worried about miscommunication and the dress not done properly due to the huge language barrier. We went down the road to Fit-Rite Alterations and they had no problem with our needs for alterations. I bought a beautiful vintage floral dress for my graduation last year at a very good price from Amazon. Because of my height, the dress was way too long so I needed it shorter. I did a crap ton of research on where to go to get my dress altered and came across this place on Yelp. I was a bit worried about the two low reviews of this place, but I decided to just give it a shot. Why not, right? I came to this place because of the five-star reviews and I have to say - I was very satisfied! The Korean lady was so, so nice! Very lovely! She shortened my dress perfectly to suit my height and the price was very fair! I highly recommend going to this place and definitely will in the future if I need any of my clothes to be altered. Not sure about all the good reviews below?! But I got my pants hemmed and they were God awfully uneven. It looks like the cut prior to the hemm was eyeballed. Since the cut from the get go was a mistake they just decided to just go with the hemm. I'd be careful if you are getting any expensive clothing hemmed here. read more
