I called, received no explanation, was assured they would come on the second. They weren't here by noon. I called again. They came at 11:30 and did a 2-day job in 4 hours. I believe there is a huge gap in communication and scheduling here. After 6 weeks of waiting for a phone call we had requested 3 times, we called about several issues. Someone was sent out to glue and repair some areas that were missed. He asked how old the carpet was. I said it was installed in October. He thought I meant the previous year, 2023. That is because after just 6 weeks, it looks worn. He was shocked. He reported this to Bryan, who came out to check for himself. He said the carpet needs to be vacuumed 3-4 times a week. He also said the seams will not be noticeable after a time. He said he would check back with us after the first of the year. It is now 2/2025. Haven't heard anything. Seams still show and looks even more worn. My research shows me Shaw carpet has issues. Tip bloom is when the fibers bloom or bush out. This was never mentioned before purchasing. I would think the more you vacuum it, the more it will bloom. Bottom line is..... I cannot recommend Shaw carpet. Do your research BEFORE buying.

We wanted it to look nice but not overspend because we will be moving soon. The person who helped us at the store (Ryan) greeted us right away. He listened to our needs and showed us good options and respected our budget. We went home with some samples. Once we made the decision on coverings they were able to set up installation. We decided to save money to rip up the old carpeting ourselves. This allowed us to save enough to get a better carpet pad. The carpet and the hardwood were scheduled to be installed on separate days a week apart. This was fine with us. The only problem I had was the installers were late arriving both times. By hours. Don't get me wrong they were very nice gentlemen and they did a good job. But if you have a scheduled time, you should arrive at the scheduled time. I am happy with the floor coverings and the cost. I would go here again.

Nathan was great to work with as always, helped me find the right door and within budget. The job was Sub-contracted out to Zach of Z.S. Construction and they did a nice job :) To be noted, I don't like to complain, as I have worked in the customer service industry for over 30 years, and I know how hectic things can get. The only issue we ran into was a lack of communication by Bell the Office manager/Coordinator? When Zach didn't show up within the allotted hour window, and I hadn't heard anything, I waited an extra hour before calling the Office, and Bell informed me that they wouldn't be arriving until around 3 hours after scheduled time. And that she didn't have time that morning to call me and let me know. Never apologized for the lack of communication, and was bordering on rude every time I spoke with her even prior to this. Without going into great detail, I found out there was some confusion on where the replacement door was and transport of it, which delayed the install and Zach needed to borrow one of Nathans guys and a trailer because of this. This was not the only communication issue with Bell, or lack of professionalism from her. Everyone else was great to work with and communicated well.

I can't post a normal review because the complete honest story is 10K characters longer than allowed, so here is a quick summary of the worst and the full review is in the pictures: -Violated contract price and terms -Didn't adhere to build schedule -DIdn't adhere to materials selections -Swapped to cheaper subcontractors without consent or notifying the county to update the building permit -Delayed documents necessary to get construction loan -Ignored construction loan deadline and extensions -Took two years to complete a house when industry standard for this area during the same time frame was about half that long. -Didn't maintain a clean safe job site -Didn't follow erosion control regulations during construction -Materials went missing from jobsite Poor workmanship included: -Not removing a tree that is causing settling issues for the house -Causing the existing retaining wall to fail and have to be replaced -Not putting the house in the correct location or elevation in the lot which necessitated putting in a whole new sewer line -Random wires sticking out of walls -Light fixtures hanging by their wires from the side of the house -Dark gray grout left all of the ceilings over showers -Not properly restoring the grade of the lot -Not pouring sidewalk all the way to our lot line or from the sidewalk to the front door -Damaging the neighbor's sidewalk with their equipment -External outlets that don't work or don't have an outlet in the hole -Using the wrong materials -Siding doesn't completely cover the exterior walls and sill plate in places which is causing pest problems -Incorrectly building the deck and leaving off the stairs to make up for the wood they were short. To top all of this off, they sent us our final invoice before the job was completed and before we were eligible to close on our mortgage and it was almost $40,000 more than our contract. We tried communicating with them through a lawyer and they rebuffed every effort. We ended up having to file a lawsuit in order to get them to communicate. There are not enough words for me to say how strongly I recommend that no one risk doing business with this company. If you do want to take the chance, then I strongly suggest you have legal council involved from step one and that you insist that the scope of work description state that the job is to follow the plans and the selections rather than trusting the clause on a later page that references those supplemental contract documents to be enough to protect you.

A big shout out to Tim (in the showroom) and Rick (here at the house)--both stellar at what they do. There was a slight problem with one of the floors we chose for our new home--we didn't even notice--but Rick pointed it out (after 3/5th of it had been laid) and said he wasn't happy with the product. We picked new flooring and it did not delay the project. What amazing integrity. Thank you! We appreciate all they did for our us and our home throughout the project (which covered several kinds of flooring). We highly recommend these men and Randy's Flooring of Coralville.

What a painless (ha, kind of) experience with Randy's Flooring!…read more I DESPISE carpet. All caps. Underlined. Bold. In red, even. Carpet is disgusting. Alas, we moved into a house with carpet throughout. Not only carpet, but at the time, new carpet. So I was stuck with it. (Because why would we possibly tear up something that was brand new?! Or so I was told.) Fast forward nearly eight years and the carpet had finally grossed out even my partner. (Two kids under 10-- one of which is a boy-- three dogs, and a pandemic of home workouts will do that.) Huzzah, new flooring! We had Brian with Randy's Flooring come to the house and get all the measurements. We decided to try to salvage the only non-carpet flooring in the house (original oak) and just match that throughout. Pricing was expensive, but on point. Jake came and worked his butt off, let me tell you. He painstakingly took off floorboards (and meticulously labeled them), ripped up carpet, cleaned subfloor, laid new wood to match pre-existing wood and then sanded down the old wood. He then stained it, reinstalled the floorboards and doors and answered all of our ten million questions. Additionally, he went above and beyond in that he knew we had a Great Dane (Marvin) that could wreak havoc on our floors-- so he got extra heavy duty hardening product to ensure his nails didn't do damage. What a process. I went nearly three weeks without my pups, a stove, refrigerator or washer and dryer. It was quite an experience. (Thank goodness for my air fryer.) I'm insanely happy with the product, the people and overall experience. (Though, in 20 years-- when this floor needs updating. I'm just moving.) Home renovations are not for the faint of heart. Randy's Flooring makes it bearable and the end product is marvelous.

Issues * Instead of taking two days to complete the job, it took nearly two months (8/26/2024 - 10/25/2024) to finally finish the job. * House of Carpets made repeatedly tried adding additional charges to the estimate, even though the Sales Rep (Tom), stated that everything was included within the initial quote. * As part of their service, House of Carpets was supposed to reinstall all the doors that they removed while putting in the new flooring, but the initial installer failed to return. He was the son of the Sales Rep (Tom). * Multiple installers had to come out to finish reinstalling trim and transitions pieces. Note - Some of the transition pieces were not ordered with the flooring, causing part of the two-month delay in completing the job. * The plastic trim on the bottom of our refrigerator was damaged by the initial installer. Also, when reinstalling the quarter round, he failed to realize the pocket door between our kitchen and laundry room. This caused a large scratch along the bottom of the pocket door when we tried to close it. * I had the owner, James Nelson, out to the house after the job was finally complete. After showing and explaining all the issues to him, we settled on a discounted amount. My wife paid this amount within days of my meeting with James, but it took House of Carpets nearly a month and two emails to finally receive an invoice showing a $0.00 balance. Someone within House of Carpets also added a highlighted to note to the invoice stating, "discounted accommodation voids all warranty". James and I never discussed the warranty, nor would I ever agree to this provision. If a warranty issue ever arises and House of Carpets fails to resolve the issue, my wife and I will have to find and HONEST flooring company or installer and sue House of Carpets.
