The ducts were not only extremely dirty but there was a distinct smell of a dead animal in the house. Although Brian did a fantastic job cleaning the vents and removing several decomposed dead mice the smell persisted. Even though it wasn't part of his job he walked around the house identified the source of the smell took an air intake vent off the wall and found the dead mouse causing the problem. Thank you, Brian, and Americlean for going above and beyond!! Will definitely use them again.

The carpets were not cleaned properly, and the odor we specifically asked them to address remained, even after they charged us extra for a deodorizer. We contacted them twice afterward to request they come back out, and were told, in essence, that we just needed to deal with it. To make matters worse, we were incorrectly charged twice and had to go through the hassle of addressing the billing error. For the price we paid, we expected professionalism, quality service, and accountability. Instead, we received none of the above. We cannot recommend this company and would strongly suggest others look elsewhere for carpet cleaning services. We will be reporting to the BBB

They were not thorough, damaged cabinets by trying to improperly removing shelf liner which ruined the finish, left dirty hardwood floors which I cleaned myself but needed reminded to come in and clean the carpets. Further at the end, they tried to bill us for items they didn't do and charged us more for the cabinets than what was charged in the quote that we obtained for them even though they used the company we got the quote from. When I asked for the receipt, they wouldn't provide it even though it would be needed for anything warranty related. They didn't want us to know! Very disappointing they way they do shoddy work and try to scam people who have just been through a disaster!

This Cedar Rapids home is a pillar on First Avenue's Northwest side and has been in our family since our grandmother purchased it in 1951.   3/31/21 was the day that our father signed the contract with ROBARB, LLC dba SERVPRO of Cedar Rapids, IA to complete the restoration of our family home. The owner, project manager, our father, as well as three family members, and our insurance claims representative, were present at this meeting. They assured our father that SERVPRO could take care of all cleaning, restoration, and storage of his personal property and that the timeline for completion would be 6-9 months.   At the time, it was reassuring that a local company would be overseeing the entire process of restoration, reconstruction, storage, as well as "cleaning". Little did we know that this journey would consume almost three years of our lives. Nov. 29, 2023, marked 32 months to the day that our father signed the contract.   The exorbitant bill has been paid but there is much left to be said. This is a forewarning to anyone who may ever need assistance after a disaster when decision-making is driven by emotions, distress, and uncertainty.   Our father passed away on 10/2021 and was never returned to his beloved home. Throughout the reconstruction, we were continually given multiple completion dates by both the project manager and the owner of the company beginning in July 2022. The delays required our family to obtain two claim extensions from our insurance company and family members who eventually purchased the home were forced to reapply for mortgages due to the expiration of rate locks. By the time they could close on the transaction, their interest rates had increased by over 2%.   Because the project manager was rarely on-site, many unnecessary setbacks occurred. On 5/8/23 the SERVPRO project manager admitted to his failures in a meeting with our family and several Cedar Rapids Building Inspectors.  He assured us that he would "Make it right". This never happened.   Here are just a few of the challenges we were met with: - Multiple subcontractors were used during the reconstruction, including out-of-state subcontractors. Their availability was limited and sporadic. When one subcontractor failed to complete a job, another had to pick up where the first one left off. - The errant disposal of original wood trim that had not been damaged in the fire. New wood base and case moldings had to be milled - and our family was charged for this work. - Family heirlooms were lost at the ROBARB, LLC dba SERVPRO of Cedar Rapids storage facility. - Over $4,300 in damages to personal property were incurred during the move-out with White Glove Movers, as well as during the cleaning process at Servpro's facility in Hiawatha, Iowa. Damages were paid, but their sub-contractors and employees lack the expertise required in dealing with vintage and antique personal property. - A water leak in the kitchen ceiling damaged newly installed drywall due to a sub-contractor failing to properly install a water line -The side entrance to the home was secured by a pole for 2.5 years before a new door was finally installed.   There was a 56% increase in costs from the initial dwelling claim estimate to the actual invoice. The final invoice was 18% more than the actual assessed value of the home. Homes have been built from the ground up in much less time than it took SERVPRO to complete the restoration. If a natural disaster or any unexpected catastrophic event impacts your family, take the time to thoroughly consider all your options. SERVPRO may tout themselves as trusted leaders in the restoration industry with promises to return your property to "like it never even happened" condition but be prepared for a journey that will leave you questioning the capabilities of this business, as well as their ethics. We are steadfast in honoring our father's legacy. He was a lifelong Cedar Rapidian and proud WWII Veteran who believed that ROBARB, LLC dba SERVPRO of Cedar Rapids had the utmost concern for our situation and would complete the repairs of his home in a timely manner. He came from a generation that entrusted people to follow through with what they said they would do. This company failed him miserably.   If our parents and grandparents were alive today, they would be demoralized by what has transpired. We wanted it to look nice but not overspend because we will be moving soon. The person who helped us at the store (Ryan) greeted us right away. He listened to our needs and showed us good options and respected our budget. We went home with some samples. Once we made the decision on coverings they were able to set up installation. We decided to save money to rip up the old carpeting ourselves. This allowed us to save enough to get a better carpet pad. The carpet and the hardwood were scheduled to be installed on separate days a week apart. This was fine with us. The only problem I had was the installers were late arriving both times. By hours. Don't get me wrong they were very nice gentlemen and they did a good job. But if you have a scheduled time, you should arrive at the scheduled time. I am happy with the floor coverings and the cost. I would go here again.

I called, received no explanation, was assured they would come on the second. They weren't here by noon. I called again. They came at 11:30 and did a 2-day job in 4 hours. I believe there is a huge gap in communication and scheduling here. After 6 weeks of waiting for a phone call we had requested 3 times, we called about several issues. Someone was sent out to glue and repair some areas that were missed. He asked how old the carpet was. I said it was installed in October. He thought I meant the previous year, 2023. That is because after just 6 weeks, it looks worn. He was shocked. He reported this to Bryan, who came out to check for himself. He said the carpet needs to be vacuumed 3-4 times a week. He also said the seams will not be noticeable after a time. He said he would check back with us after the first of the year. It is now 2/2025. Haven't heard anything. Seams still show and looks even more worn. My research shows me Shaw carpet has issues. Tip bloom is when the fibers bloom or bush out. This was never mentioned before purchasing. I would think the more you vacuum it, the more it will bloom. Bottom line is..... I cannot recommend Shaw carpet. Do your research BEFORE buying.
