My daughter had a terrible experience with this driving school. Below is a letter I wrote the same day after her first lesson on Tuesday, November 19, 2025. I do not recommend this school at all. Dear A1 Driving School Administration, I am writing to formally express my concerns regarding my daughter Cassidy's first driving lesson with your instructor, Ms. Stacy Medford, earlier today. As an educational administrator with over eighteen years of professional experience, I take instructional quality, student safety, and professional conduct very seriously--and what Cassidy experienced today falls far below acceptable standards. After reviewing Cassidy's written account in full, I am deeply displeased and genuinely concerned. My child did not receive a fair instructional session. From the moment the lesson began--with the instructor arriving late--the tone, professionalism, and instructional approach were inappropriate, dismissive, and unsafe. The sharp, sarcastic remarks; the impatience when Cassidy asked reasonable beginner questions; and the lack of structured guidance are entirely unacceptable for any student, let alone a new driver. In addition, the extended personal phone usage described--including texting, scrolling, and a lengthy personal phone call while Cassidy was driving--constitutes a serious safety risk. Ending the session early only added to the impression that this was not a legitimate instructional experience. Because of these issues, I am requesting either a full refund for this session or a redo with a qualified instructor who can provide Cassidy with the complete and supportive instructional experience she deserves.Furthermore, based on the details provided, I strongly recommend that Ms. Medford receive immediate professional development, particularly in customer service, instructional delivery, and professional boundaries. If the behaviors described are consistent with her practice, dismissal should be considered. These are not minor concerns--these are systemic instructional and safety failures. My daughter was approved for the Georgia Driver's Education Scholarship program on September 1, 2024. We decided to go with A1 Driving school and Moriah has already completed the driver's education part over two weeks ago. However, we have been unsuccessful at scheduling the actual driving lessons. We were emailed a link to sign up for the lessons through bookmyrides.com and the website doesn't recognize the password we've created. We've created a password six times. Unfortunately, the isn't a way to contact bookmydrives and no one answers at A1. I've emailed them as well, to no avail. When I search the reviews for bookmydrives.com, it appears this is a common issue that never gets resolved. I'm not sure how to go about this but the school has already been compensated through the scholarship and she really needs the lessons. read more

Stay away!! The customer service is terrible and for some reason, these people try to make you feel bad for their mistakes. Because of administrative issues within this business, I was forced to get my nephew his driving test an hour and a half outside of Douglasville, I get a call today from the location in Jonesboro, GA telling me that they were not open on Saturday and my appointment scheduled by someone in that office was canceled. Who does business like that? Then the girl gets nasty and tells me I can go somewhere else. This after I have already paid for their entire package. I just called to get info for my daughter's driving classes... the person who picked up the phone (a female) was very very very rude! She was very demeaning and and responded to my questions with an air of superiority...wondering why??!!??? To make matter worst, she hung up on me ... twice when I told her she was being rude...and then had tge nerve to ask me if I was interested in enrolling my daughter or not?!...OF COURSE NOT with this attitude!!! When I called back to ask for a manager, she said SHE was the office manager!!! WOW!!! Unbelievable! We booked a defensive driving course for our 17-year-old son after a speeding ticket. It was a Saturday class November 16th, 9:30 to 4:30. I was sure it was going to be the longest most boring day but hey, when you get a speeding ticket you have to learn. My son called me around lunchtime so I asked how things were going. He said his teacher Mr. D'Andre Berry was actually really funny and made the class really interesting. When your 17-year-old kid says that, you remember! I was shocked. He said that his teacher knew that most people didn't want to be there so he made it fun and interesting. I wish there were more people in the world like you Mr. Berry! Hats off to you. This is my first time dealing with a driving school. My experience was the company has no communication with customers. You pay your money and then you wait. Very Very unprofessional. My class was canceled at the scheduled time. No prior notice. I rescheduled and was then kicked out of the class. No discussion, no communication just dismissed. This is literally my first review on anything. I never thought I would ever have to but I am trying to warn as many people as I can. I set up my driving lessons with this company and I was excited to have them pick me up from my job and teach me to drive. I live in the Duluth area but work in the Atlanta area. 2 weeks go by after they approve of my appointments and approve the day of calling. They even sent me reminders of my appointments that were going to be a Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. They call me Friday, basically a day before I'm supposed to start driving, and they tell me they can't do those driving lessons because it's too out of the way for the instructor. I was livid. They had 2 weeks to tell me that is was too out the way for the instructor. And it would make no sense to approve an appointment if that address is too out of the way. They waited last minute to tell me. And so, I really wanted a refund because I didn't want to do business with them anymore but their stupid 48 hour refund policy saying "After 48 hours from the purchase date, no refunds will be issued" said I couldn't. So, it was more of a slap in my face saying I can't get my $320 back because you weren't doing your job and actually paying attention to what you're supposed to be doing. They had 2 weeks to tell me. So, I had to end up rescheduling my appointments because of their mistake and renew my permit. I do not recommend this company. read more

DO NOT waste your time or money with this company! They are unprofessional and at this point I'm starting to believe they are fraudulent. I signed up and paid for my daughter to take the Joshua's law course over a month before it was scheduled to start. We hadn't received any communication regarding the course since then so I decided to reach out to A-1 during the week the course was scheduled. I was told she would receive a link to the course Friday before the Saturday/Sunday course started. Friday came and of course no link came. I called several locations Friday evening and they just sent emails but to no avail. Saturday morning I went to the Lawrenceville location and spoke to the lady at the front desk and she apologized stating for some reason my daughter was never registered for the class even though I provided her the order number and receipt showing the course was paid for. She told me she would reschedule us for the following weekend and I should receive information by Monday regarding the course. Monday is here and I called and spoke to the same lady today and was told she would send it out later today. I never received anything. I regret not doing thorough research on this company but please check reviews on ALL sites before doing business with them. This company is terrible. STAY AWAY read more

After an hour finally someone answer only to put me back on hold. After letting her know I've played phone tag for over an hour her reply was, "I have 6 other people on the line". This is a cruddy- awesome place. your $40 therapeutically-useless waste of time 3 hour class will ALWAYS be cut SUPER short! YAY! But ladies beware- your instructor may try to lure you to an inappropriate place to pick up your certificate of completion. Not cool and super unprofessional and creepy as hell. The front office person can only take your money. Even tho A1's name is plastered on the building, they are not affiliated with a1 so you are left floating legally when have ANY questions or concerns. They just refer you to the instructor who is clueless by his own admission. The legal system is confusing enough without these barriers. read more

I was wrong, the instructor was very informative, the material was interesting and I left not only scoring an A on my test but with an attitude that everyone should take the class. We started the process of my daughter taking her drivers ed class months ago. The class went fine, although I think when they say they will being supplying lunch everyday someone needs to mention is a pizza every day, not 3 days out of the week long class absolutely every single day, pizza. When my daughter asked could they order something else on the last day (she was sick of pizza) they said yeah we'll get you guys a cake, but you have to bring your own regular lunches. Once her classroom time was over I paid to have her drive with an instructor for 6 hours. The first 4 hours (2 trip) went great. Her last driving time was on a Friday the instructor was supposed to pick her up at 1pm. No one ever arrived, when I called they said that the instructor's earlier appointment must have gone over. They rescheduled her for Sunday afternoon at 1pm. She was to leave for Florida so we postponed her leaving until 4pm that afternoon. Sunday at 1pm came and went and no one showed up to get her. I again on Monday called and was told there was a mix up in schedules and they tried to schedule her again. At this point I refused and asked for a manager to call me. On day 3 of no phone call back from a manager I called once again and let the person know my situation on the other line and that I needed to speak with a manager. I waited for 2 weeks with no call back from a manager. I called the driving school when now it was time for my daughter to go get her license and told my issues again and asked that a car be given at no cost for my daughter to take her driving test. They refused. They finally came and picked up my daughter at 7pm at night to finish her last 2 hours of driving on his past Wednesday. I was then told that a certificate would be emailed to me to take to the DMV for her to take her test. When I received no email on Friday I called, they took a message to have the certificate run for me. On Monday still no certificate, I called and they said the lady would be in Tuesday @ 3:30. As of this morning still no certificate from them, so once again I called, the response was that the lady that does the certificates didn't come in yesterday and she will do it today they promised. Let's all keep in mind my daughter is supposed to take her test tomorrow morning at 9am. When 3:45 came around today and I had still not received the emailed certificate I called very upset. I was told that she was doing going to process the certificate right now. I waited and waited 4pm rolled in and no email. I called back to get an excuse of my daughters file is in a room where drivers ed is taking placed and she has to wait for them to take a break before she can get her file. I had my evaluation done there and took my risk reduction class here. It has taken multiple trips, emails and phone calls trying to get my certificates of conpletion emailed to me. They promise it will be ready the next business day by 5 pm. 3 days later I still do not have my certificate to show my probation officer. For people on probation this can be a big issue. It's really not all that difficult to scan the paper and email it. I would not recommend this place if you expect things to be done in a timely manner. The evaluator is a contract employee and has been even more difficult to get information from. He has yet to return any of my emails or phone calls trying to get my certification of completetion. I talked to him in person 3 times and he keeps promising to send it over but hasn't. One time he commented "I must have been drunk the day I told you that." Your the drug and alcohol evaluator, why would you joke about drinking on the job? It has been 2 weeks and still no certification.
