The wood is really long. And some pieces were so big around they wouldn't fit my stove. A huge stack of it was 2 feet long. They made it right with some of it so I give them three stars for that but in the end it made the work so much harder for me because I found so many more that wouldn't fit in my stove. I made it clear my stove was tiny and I needed small pieces. And for the price I paid I expected wood pretty much ready to burn. It was a lot of huge, knarley ones I couldn't split. I ended up having to buy a splitter and a miter saw to just be able to have firewood to heat my home. They are so close to my house and they delivered so I am disappointed I couldn't get nice cut wood for the nearly 600 bucks I spent. This was my second time to use them. I guess I will need to look elsewhere next winter because I need clean cut wood. read more

I have ordered wood from this company for the last several years. I have never had a problem with any of their wood. This year I ordered pinon cedar mix five chords. They delivered it to me out in the mountains. All the wood is too long and I have to cut the whole 5 chords of wood. The lady at the front desk said I should have asked for stove cut. I have never heard of this I have never asked for it in the past. A lot of this wood is really wet in dolls by chainsaw very quickly. When you pay $1,700 for five chords of wood you should not have to recut it or get wet wood. Maybe next year will be better and I can give a five star rating. Spending that kind of money though do I really want to take a chance I'm going through this again? read more

This business does not do good business they do rip off business to veterans, especially women veterans they want to short you by saying they give you 128 ft.³ of firewood that is absolutely false what they do is they give you junk they give you 75 ft.³ of Firewood and fill the rest with junk wood little scraps so it looks like you're actually getting wood when it gets delivered but then when you really take a better look at it it's not wood it's just kindling so anyway, they are a poor excuse for a business, and they don't care who they hurt They're all about the money that's it. Horrible place to do business with. I highly recommend you run away from them. There are many of other people down on each letter. There's a nice guy and he gives you plenty of wood and he knows what a cord is not A-1 firewood, that name is misleading. If you want to label it scrap then that's what you'll get from them. Ordered our wood on Monday and arranged delivery for Saturday. Asked for wood to be stacked. They do not generally stack on Saturday, but they made an exception (Thank you)! They were behind on deliveries, but called and let us know. Driver was courteous, hard working and stacked the wood beautifully. Wood was cut into vey nice size pieces. Got a "wheelbarrow" load of dry mixed cedar/pinon for $35. A very generous wheelbarrow load it was, too. It took me four wheelbarrow trips to unload the car to our backyard woodpile. Friendly people, an actual business that is open when they say they will be, dry easy-to-burn wood at a good price. Maybe if you know someone you can do better, but for the occasional backyard fire this was perfect for us. read more

This place seems to be run by good people and the past reviews look good. Inwas looking for a load of specific wood to take with me up to Taos for a ceremony and we went to look around. They had a great selection and the man in the yard was super friendly and helpful and invited us to go look at the wood. We asked at the reception about delivery to Taos and the young lady gave us a price. We decided it was worth it to get a full cord delivered than take 1/2 cord in our truck and pay for gas as well. We paid for it and went on our way. About an hour later i got a call saying that the delivery location was too far and there was a 3 cord minimum plus the price went way up per cord. I cancelled the order and they refunded the money though it make take a few days to show and now i have to scramble for another plan. Make sure you get the manager's approval of anything. Otherwise their stock is good. read more

Seems that most firewood around this area comes from folks on craigslist or sourced from private property. The people at A-1 answer the phone, keep regular business hours and have a good supply and selection of firewood. Prices are on the premium side but I was able to get Hickory for my BBQ pit hobby so that is a huge plus. I paid at the office and headed to the yard to assist loading my order. They do deliver as well. The fellows in the yard are all friendly but on one trip the man helping me really had no idea the differences between species of firewood. When you are after something specific with a price to match it's important. Everything got sorted out in the end and A-1 will get repeat business from me. read more

I have been getting my firewood here for a few years. Usually a pretty good mix for a fair price. They are usually short handed so I end up loading with them but the staff is friendly and it doesn't take long. It would help if you are bilingual though. read more

I got a 1/2 cord of cedar/piñon mix and it came out to $200. That was the cheapest option so I went for it. I had never bought firewood before so I didn't know what it usually costs. Just had a couple friends mention they usually pay less than that for a full cord so I did a online search and this seems pretty high - I'm seeing this is usually the price for a full cord. Customer service was great and they delivered for only $5 (awesome!) so I'm still giving them 4 stars. read more

There are a lot of shady firewood dealers in the ABQ metro, from the guys who sit by the side of the road and insist a pickup bed is a cord of wood to others that sell unseasoned wood that is less than a cord. A-1 sells a legal size cord (4x4x8) of excellent quality wood. Their deliver charge is reasonable too. read more
