Don't use Daley Moving & Storage of Torrington Connecticut…read more We moved to Florida one year ago in October 2020 and used Daley Moving & Storage to move us out of our home and put our furniture and belongings into their storage facility while we looked for a permanent home in Florida. We asked Daley if they shipped to Florida, and they told us they make frequent trips. Six months later we bought a permanent home in Florida and contacted Daley to have our belongings shipped down. They initially told us that they don't deliver much to Florida anymore because "no one is moving to Florida". After repeated calls, they finally agreed to ship our furniture and belongings down in several weeks. We were told that payment had to be made prior to the move, so we paid them in full at that time. When the truck finally arrived several weeks later in June 2021, approximately 1/3 of our furniture and belongings were missing. I called Daley the next day and was essentially told that I was a liar. I continued to call and finally reached someone who agreed to look in the warehouse. Lo and behold, they found that the movers in October had put some our items into an unmarked storage vault. Again, after several additional phone calls, Daley agreed to bring them down. At the end of another month, July 2021, the truck arrived with some, but not all, of our things. We are still missing pictures, most of our kitchen supplies, and family heirlooms that are irreplaceable. I have continued to call and write to Daley over the course of the last year to request that our belongings be returned to us. I wrote to Gina, the president of the company, on August 27,2021, at her home address, to request that our things be returned. She responded by email on September 20 stating that she would get back to us within a few days. She did not. I emailed her on October 11th and November 1st but did not receive a response. I emailed on November 3 with a suggested review and received a response informing me I would "absolutely" hear from Gina or a Krystle by the end of the day on November 5th. At that time Krystal told us our missing items were delivered by mistake to someone else. Krystal said and they would pick them up around Thanksgiving and arrange to deliver to us. Repeated calls, emails and letters go unanswered and we have not received our possessions. Daley has no integrity. To date, we have spent over $1,500 to replace items that were not shipped down when they were supposed to be as well as items that have not been shipped down at all. If there was a rating of negative stars that we could assign to Daley, we would do so. Dealing with them has been a nightmare. THEY HAVE NO INTEGRITY!

One of my boxes went missing while in one of their own storage units, and despite providing a clear inventory of its contents (worth close to $1,000), I've received little more than vague assurances for over 12 weeks. Only recently was I offered a reimbursement that doesn't even cover half the cost of a single item from the box. What's more concerning is the lack of accountability. No proper inventory was taken at the time of the move, and I was never told that their team should have been responsible for boxing and backing up items in order for coverage to apply. Without that transparency, it feels like customers are left unprotected if something goes wrong. For anyone considering movers, I would recommend Piece of Cake instead, they were half the price and, based on my experience, far more reliable.

They stole $475 from my 14 year disabled daughter's piggy bank and $100 from my wallet. My daughter was so upset she was crying for a week and ended up in the hospital. When my wife asked for a smaller unit, we were told that there were none available on the first floor. When my wife asked if I wanted an upstairs unit, I said I didn't. The lady there went in to high gear to make sure we were going to be satisfied and not move to another storage company. She tried hard to find a solution. Even to the point of calling a customer who had reserved a unit on the first floor to see if they would take one on the second floor. It all worked out thanks to her. The other customer said they would take the upstairs unit and I could have the one downstairs. Kudos.

Before committing, I decided to get a second opinion -- and thankfully, I found Harbor Moving and Storage. Ken was friendly, knowledgeable, and incredibly helpful from the beginning. He explained that modern moving estimates should be based on volume, not just weight and distance, and warned that any company requiring a deposit up front might be a red flag. We had kept a good inventory of what we needed moved, and Ken quickly returned a quote that was far more reasonable than the original company. We booked with him immediately. Pickup day (the Monday after the 4th of July) went perfectly. The movers, Lester and Stephen, arrived early and waited until the 8 a.m. start time due to HOA rules. They were polite, upbeat, and immediately reassuring -- saying, "this will be easy," which gave me confidence. I had worked hard to pack and label things correctly (some items were going to a condo, others to storage), and they followed instructions perfectly. The team handled everything with care, especially the furniture destined for long-term storage -- they wrapped it thoroughly and thoughtfully. They worked fast and efficiently. At the second pickup location (a storage unit), they navigated a tricky street parking situation and got everything loaded within two and a half hours total. There was a minor delay in getting the shipment down to Florida due to a driver emergency, but Ken stayed in close contact the entire time. We were flexible since we weren't going to be in Naples to receive the delivery -- our brother-in-law met the truck. Ken provided the driver's contact info and an accurate delivery window, so we were never left wondering. On the Florida end, they again handled the move flawlessly -- even managing to unload everything into both the storage unit and our second-floor condo despite another tight parking situation. All items arrived in perfect condition, and the crew maintained a detailed inventory from start to finish.
