I hired Jack to open up a lock for my manteca home and on first day he showed up promptly. First he told me he can't unlock the lock and he has to leave for another job immediately. After i sent him the lock keys( i'm 600 miles away), he did open the door" by a maneuver". Then, somehow, the second day, the locks are locked again by my Airbnb guests. I asked him to open the lock again, and he wants to change all three locks without even notifying me that. He said let me do it, let me finish the job. I asked, " what are u doing? why do we need to change 3 locks?" He said, " you need to do it". I said, " it's my house, i decide how many locks i need to change". Then, he spoke his opinion in front my guests and then my guests are scared of the "non safe" 2 unchanged locks. After hearing what Jack said, mynguests want to cancel their reservation. That's a $2000 reservation. I am a california licensed realtor, who is soon to be a broker. I knew the requirements more than Jack. The 2 locks are not needed to change since the keys were never given to any guests. And it's no need to change a non disclosed locks. Overall, I think Jack is very good at locks, but his attitude and work ethics are terrible. He talks too much and has very little patience. He also lies about stuff to get unnecessary job done to get paid more. He also refused to provide an invoice after his job done. It's unfortunate to bump a rude and aggressive locksmith like him. read more

We needed a couple extra keys to a padlock we planned to use. After calling around and checking the kyosks around town to find out that finding a real locksmith is not as easy as it once was. I called A-1 Keyway Lock Shop, located very close to my home, and talked to the owner Jack. He said he was just about to leave, most of his service is mobile, but he offered to wait for me if I could get there soon. I jumped in the car and hit every red light possible and even though I was later than promised or planned he waited for me and made my two keys for a very reasonable price. It is so much nicer to deal with people face to face. I am so tired of using machines for everything and refuse if there is another option. What a nice person to wait for just two keys!!! read more

Charged 4.50 for a key that normally runs 2.00. I left and am now going to walmart for the rest of the keys I need. I believe Walmart keys are around a 1.50 each. I bought five more keys from walmart the other day and I am going back next week to get more duplicates for several other buildings next week. it is idiots like A-1 who end up losing their business because of mismanagement. read more

I have to write a review because of the excellent service that I received was far greater than I ever expected. First, he opened his shop about 45 minutes early. I failed to realize the shop hours, he was no bothered one bit. Second, he did the job in half an hour . The same job that I was quoted a 3 day wait, and 110. He did it for 30. Jack is also a professional at heart. After decades of locksmith work, he still researches a job for the best was to do it. Very respectable. The bottom line is, he really does a professional job. As advertised. Walmart can make a key cheaper, but if you have a problem with it.... You have Problem. A 1 takes care of their customers, and they stand by their work. He charged me a good rate, took him about ten minutes to come and less than 5 minutes to get into the door. I'm a very happy customer. Jack totally saved the day for us when i locked the car keys in the trunk of our rental car. We were headed to Yosemite and didn't want to miss our reservation for the night in the park. Jack had the car open quickly but the keys were in the trunk and the alarm disabled the electronic trunk release. The car also lacked fold down rear seats so a replacement key was the only solution. Within minutes Jack had a buddy with the necessary key cutting machine on the way and called another friend at the dealer to get the proper code to cut the key. The dealer didn't have the correct key blank but his friend miraculously had one blank that fit the car. He cut the new key, opened the trunk, and we were on our way! We were back on the road in less than 2 hours. Without Jack's help chances are we would have spent the night in Manteca instead of Yosemite. I highly recommend him! read more

Has had my motorcycles starter for over 3 weeks now, originally told me it would take an hour or so to make a new key. Told me if it took longer he would call and inform me, never called. Every time I call it goes straight to answering machine, and his shop has been conveniently closing at 4:30, so I can't make it there after work. If you need any auto or any type of keys copied give him a call. I gave it a five star because it's the only shop in town. I gave him a call and he met me at the time he said he'd be there. I wanted to get double keys made because I thought mine had a hairline crack. He looked at it in the light and in a magnifying glass and saw it was just a mark, he saved me a few bucks.
