Unresponsive, unprofessional, rude--non-existent customer service. Arrived home on Friday (pool was supposedly cleaned on Wednesday) and the pool was filled with green slimy algae all over the sides and bottom of the pool. I was told that someone would service the pool the day after Memorial Day and no one showed up. No one came on our regularly scheduled Wednesday either. I called and was told that they have a labor shortage and will not be servicing out pool any longer. What a joke--run from this company. Horrible, horrible customer service. Gave a stop date at the end of June--have always paid on time and asked for a refund because our pool was filled with algae on a Friday after you allegedly cleaned & serviced it on Wednesday. Now that you have informed me about your labor shortage, it explains a lot. read more

They were on a schedule for weekly pool cleaning. I usually cleaned pool myself because of pine needles. Recently decided to see what pool service did so left pool and monitored it before and after cleaning. They drove up and pretended to clean. They left skimmer completely full of debris. Drain at bottom of pool was full of leaves. I called to complain they insisted pool was clean. Sent pics to show problems and they said it was clean. Then proceeded to tell me to sign up for twice weekly cleaning. Avoid this service. They also keep raising rates so I'm looking for another service. I'm going to enjoy firing them. read more

We had used A1 pool for 12 years without a problem. They had resurfaced our pool and had replaced all the pool equipment at least once. We are absentee owners and they are supposed to service our pool at least once a week. Last summer their technician left a hose with the faucet wide open in the pool that ran for almost a week. Broadcreek utilities notice a unusually high water usage in the area and investigated and found the hose that was left on and the overflowing. MY water bill was over $1100 dollars which is over $900 over our normal water bill. I did not pay my last 2 last 2 maintenance bills because they were supposed to take care of the water bill. They applied the 2 months service toward the bill and said they were canceling my service . Their office staff are unprofessional and I would not recommend them to anyone. read more

Do not go to this company for pool service! They are extremely rude and unprofessional. They were not knowledgeable or helpful with our pool issue/concerns. I was a renter at a property they serviced. However, that does not give them the right to be rude and unhelpful when I just had a question regarding the pool. I was not at all abusive, just inquisitive. It was terrible customer service and handled very poorly. After I posted this review, they called me back and told me that if I did not take my review down they would call their attorney and sue me for slander. Now, THAT is ridiculous! Who knows who they have convinced to take down their reviews before me. I know my right to free speech and want/appreciate honest opinions of other consumers when I pick my pool company or other services (be VERY wary of this company!) read more

I had our pool re-plastered in March/April 2021 by A-1 Pools. From the initial planning, material selection and throughout construction, working with A-1 personnel from the office and construction staff was uncoordinated, frustrating and difficult. Email communications was not available and voice messages left were returned late or not at all. The quality of the work performed was at best average. The workers left construction debris, material packaging, food etc. on the ground in a trail from their trucks to the pool area daily. The main issue was the disposal of the excess plaster material from the job. The evening after plastering was completed I found a disturbed area of the yard of about 20 x 20 feet. I discovered chunks of the excess plaster buried below ranging from marble to softball size. I confronted the crew chief the next day and showed him the evidence. It took them about 90 minutes and many loads in wheel barrels to dig out, remove and load-up all the debris they attempted to hide rather than disposing of properly. Their plaster material supplier posts on their website the 'Swimming Pool Start-Up Procedures from National Plasters Council'. I really don't think that anyone at A-1 Pools has ever seen or read them. I had to perform most of the recommended brushing myself (2x daily) to ensure a successful result. After the job was complete, I met on-site with the company President and Construction Manager to discuss the excess plaster issue, the poor quality of the work and the total disregard of the crew to clean-up daily and at the conclusion of the job, which I did myself. The response from them was denial and no commitment was made to resolve any of them. Grout is still cracking and falling out of joints. I asked for a bag of the matching grout, to make the repairs myself (the only way it was going to get done), which was agreed to. Still waiting! read more

I went with A-1 Pool Service because they were the low bid on resurfacing our pool and deck. I had to sign a 2 year pool service contract with them as part of the bid. The deck deteriorated very quickly and tiles started coming off of the pool. Compared to my previous pool company, their service was sub par. They charge you for every little thing. Every time you have a question, you have to set up an appointment time to talk to Paul, the owner, on the phone. The gatekeeper that answers the phone is not friendly. Also, they don't follow instructions. I asked them not to come make repairs on certain dates because we had renters at the house, and they came anyway. I would not recommend this company. Call Onsite Pool Medics for great service. Their price is just a little more per month but they don't nickel and dime you to death on everything so it will end up being less expensive. read more

I had reviewed this business before but they somehow got yelp to take it down. Unscrupulous business practices. Dishonest business dealings including reporting broken or worn out pool filter parts, materials or motors which in fact were fine. Dawn is the worst, could not stand dealing with this person. Last straw was they reported filter motor needed replacement. Expensive item and the fifth or sixth significant repair they had reported. I got another opinion. Liars. This was well over a year ago, and I still have the same motor. My current pool company says there is no problem whatsoever. Draw your own conclusion. read more

If you want to spend a whole lot of money and be treated terribly, this is the pool maintenance company for you. I have been with them for 2 years and they seemed to be okay in the beginning. I did question a few pricey repairs which occurred almost immediately, but they always had a reasonable explanation. Fast forward to the last few months. This pool belongs to a rental home and I am not on site. A problem arose with the pool and they were contacted. They did not fix the issue and I ended up having to refund a whole lot of money to the renter. To add insult to injury, they charged me for what they didn't do. The woman I spoke to on the phone, Dawn, is mean as a snake and has no apologies (or refunds) for work that wasn't completed. Stay away from this business! read more

A1 pool did a free inspection, seemed competent enough so I engaged their services. My mistake. During vistings they tried to train my friends to work the pump, fill up the pool. After being told I complained. At the next visit the technician threatened, got in my face. A new technician was assigned and all was mediocre for a month. Then I asked to convert the pool to salt water. It took a month to install, primarily because for the first 2 weeks they forgot to do it until I called. They said it would take two weeks. Day 1 the system was left on its lowest setting and a bright red light indicated the salt level was critically low. 1 week went. When they returned algae had grown. They'd left the pool without control, so big surprise. Because of this they said the pool had to be shocked, ie dump a ton of acid in. They also unplugged the salt system leaving the pool without any form of chemical control. Another week went. When they returned algae was growing again. So more acid. Another week. And then again another 2 weeks repeated. A month and nothing achieved. During this time I called/emailed repeatedly to ask where we stood, what was being done and how much longer to expect. They blamed the weather. It was true it rained heavily the first week equipment was installed. But the final two weeks it did not rain here a TOTAL of 1 hour. Still, they were unable. When I called to ask what we could do to achieve it Dawn said "stop doing your rain dance." I hired a new pool company. They measured the pH at 6.0 more than a week since A1 had. pH was so acidic the brand new salt cell has likely been damaged (per new company, who offered to replace it free) and will need to be replaced. Still new company was able to fix and balance the pool in 36 hours. What A1 was unable to do in more than a month competent techs did in less than 2 days. I terminated services with A1 and now theyre trying to charge out an extra month, fees for early termination and when I refused 4 weeks later are claiming to send me to collections. You'd be better off anywhere else. read more
