Originally I enjoyed this company, but I didn't realize it was treated as an apartment and there are rent increases... they mailed the notification to our old address of 8 months ago and not the address I wrote on our paperwork which is why we got this storage since it was near our apartment, so I know we gave them our recent address... maybe an email and text should be given as well. Luckily I caught it before paying and called... and that's how I found out, but those on auto pay probably don't even check... so just be aware of PRICE INCREASES. It was a super easy process at A-1, from signing up and selecting a unit (including helpful videos explaining how large of a unit you might need), to buying a lock and using their free furniture dollies on site. Staff are friendly and easygoing, the location is super clean and quiet, all in all it's a great experience. My only complaint is that it's pricey. But, I knew I was paying a premium for a fairly large ground floor unit near the doorway, and I knew I wasn't going to stay in there for more than 2 months, so it wasn't too bad. read more

It is a clean and secure space. Well lit and the staff is friendly. You cannot get in after 10 PM which is pretty frustrating. Also they do not allow you to have a back up payment option in case your credit card on file is declined. They will email you but they can sell all of your stuff if you do not receive that email for some reason. That's pretty scary read more

Nice enough people and a good storage building/location, but they will raise your prices!!! I started in November 2017 paying, $138. They raised it to $155 in less than a year, and now, March 2019 (less than a year a half later) I just got notice they want to raise it to $185 a month. I just looked at their website and they have my 5x10 unit size on "web special" for $109. I will email to look into it more, but buyer beware. Their business model seems to target people who store long term, hoping they will not fight the rate increases nor move their things. read more

She was great and really helped make a stressful situation (moving) into a joyful encounter. A storage unit can portray a major life change in the heart of an individual. Perhaps, one is upgrading their life: trying their hand at cohabitation and having to store away some of that embarrassing Simpsons memorabilia collection. Other times, it can signal a downgrade. A passive flow into a smaller home or dwelling which means less than ample closet space. Sometimes, you just want to pack away dead pets (I am not making this up: this location of A-1 storage actually has some packed away dead pet carcasses!). I don't fit into either category at this point, and I was merely helping my elderly neighbor organize his apartment. So, off I went with Carlos (the said neighbor) to do my good deed for the day. A-1 offers several pricing options based on size, vicinity to an elevator, drive-up or ground access, after hours accommodation, etc. Basically, it can be a little confusing and somewhat of an overflow of information. Carlos rents a "Small" space (5 x 5) which is about the same as a hall closet. Being an elderly gentlemen, he needs easy elevator access, and thus pays $85/month rent to store away his bills, extra clothes, etc. Spaces can accommodate from 4 x 5 ($78/mo) to the largest at 10 x 35 ($650/mo). My biggest surprise with A-1 was the cleanliness. I expected scuff marks galore on the walls and ceilings equivalent to that of a child's playroom filled with crayon and kool-aid stains. The building was quiet, no odors, etc. The front office is also well maintained reminding of a condensed Office Max or Uhaul office with packing boxes, tape, etc. So why the low rating? I did not feel welcome the moment I stepped foot in the office. The girl behind the counter (whose name shall remain anonymous but rhymes with Bettie. With an L) was all smiles to Carlos greeting him in Spanish. Yet, when he introduced me as his neighbor, she seemed appalled and barely uttered an "hi". Yes, it was in that "Eww, white girl" way. Regardless, this wasn't a big deal and I moved onward. However, I checked in on Yelp and saw that I could get 3 free small boxes for checking in. I asked Carlos if he wanted the boxes and proceeded to ask Bettie with an L about it. She instantly gave me a hard time asking if I can print out the offer. Um... yes, I have a printer attached to my phone (sarcasm). Then she switches it up asking if I can email her the offer because her boss won't let her redeem it otherwise. I explained to her how Yelp check-ins work ( I even showed her my phone) and how I can do neither of the above mentioned. She was very rude and not accommodating at all except for saying she will call her boss to ask. I told her to "forget it" due to the hassle but suggested she explain to her boss how Yelp check in offers work and that they shouldn't offer them if they don't plan to redeem them. Basically, it is a false advertisement and gimmick. She nodded but I will bet my life on it that she didn't tell her boss. Due to the unwelcome racial undertones and the lack of redeeming a check in offer (or even knowing "how"); I would not choose A-1 if I was in the need for extra storage. I'd rather have my embarrassing oddities be used as a conversation starter right in the center of my living room. read more
