I specifically requested that I wanted them to focus on the bathroom and kitchen because the rest I could do by myself with a quick vacum and wipe. They said it would be $70 an hour. So I agreed because it was one tiny kitchen and one and a half bathrooms. On the day of, they send two cleaners. As the hour goes by, I notice that they are taking there time and one of them is wiping the bedroom windows without a care in the world.I remind them that I requested to have the kitchen and bathrooms done firs. When the hour is almost up, they are not done and it will be an additional 30 min. I say okay but after 10 min. one of the girls "says" she is finished with the kitchen and small bathroom (the other girl is still working on the bigger bathroom). She just stands there hanging out waiting for the other girl to finish. So I tell her that if she is finished with whats required and I am still paying her for the next twenty minutes, then she can continue to still work and not just stand there. So they are both done and and they leave. So as I am doing the last minute cleaning I notice that they did not do a good job and then I open the Freezer and she did not clean it AT ALL. But she finished 20 min. early remember? I call back the office right away with no response and I have to turn in the keys at midnight. I finally get in touch with the the owner and he says not to worry, they guarentee there services and will give me a $30 credit for the lack of proffessionalism for the cleaners. He says that they can come in and clean it after I turn in the keys because they have so much experience and the property manager with let them do it. Yes its my fault but I believed them. I never hired a cleaning service before. Too make a long story short, the property manager didn't allow them access. I end up getting $150 deducted from my deposit because the apt complex had to hire their own cleaning service to clean would Great Maids didn't. I tried talking to the Great Maids owner serveral times without sucess. First they didnt return my calls so I had to visit the office personally. Then they promised me their insurance company would refund me the money after they file a claim. When I didnt hear from them in weeks, I followed up and their tune changed. They never filed a claim and they refused to refund me any money. They did not stick to their guarenteed service. Unfortunatley, I had to wait a long time for the apt. complex to send me photos to show proof they didnt clean right. Then I misplaced them in a box and just found them. Since it may be too late to file legal action, I wanted to share with Yelpers the photos to prove how poorly they cleaned. Yes they might do a good job sometimes as per Yelp reviews but I wouldnt risk hiring them after knowing they do LOUSY jobs as well. And worse, not taking responsibilty and correcting the matter afterwards. It was a costly $150 lesson to learn. UPDATE: 1/22/13 Response to Owners Comments: The property management company would NEVER release any personal information to a THIRD PARTY. So the owner would not know what I got charged so his comments are untrue. Secondly, I requested and received that cleaning notes and pictures myself, and it clearly states I was charged a CLEANING FEE because of the conditions of the bathroom and kitchen.

I originally found them on ServiceMagic.com It's sorta like a dating service between you and your gardner/maid/etc. FUN! I was searching late one night and filled in forms to schedule a consultation for an estimate and choose one for the following morning at 9AM. Monday morning rolls by and I get a phone call from a lovely gentleman named Daniel, saying that he was from Great Maids and was in front of my house. I was pretty amazed. Typically when you fill those things out online you never really expect to actually get the response especially when you schedule for the next morning. Upon his arrival, he was super sweet. He walked me through the house and told me exactly what they would be doing to each particular room and the things that they look for and what they would clean. After every room visit he then asked me if I had any specifics of what I would need differently. I addressed an issue that we have in this house with the laundry monster and he assured me that the ladies who come to the house to clean can help tame that for me. My major concerns about hiring a cleaning service was having random people in and out of my house. We run our wedding photography business from our home, which means we have tons of expensive equipment laying around and of course personal belongings. He assured me that they have a very secure way of storing home keys for their clients and that no one would have access to our home address but the same two people who come every two weeks to my home. He gave me my quote and left to return with two magical ladies the following Monday. During the estimate visit, Daniel mentioned that they would have a 30 minute window of arrival. So if you scheduled your service at 9AM, then the arrival time would be anywhere from 9:00 - 9:30AM. They arrived at 9:05AM, with smiling faces, buckets of cleaning supplies, Apple Shuffles, plugged in and ready to go. They did not waste any time cleaning what so ever. The moment the got here, there were brief introductions and onto business they were. My husband and I got ready with 5 minutes and I quickly peeked into our daughters' bedroom to see what they were up to and Sandra already had the bed made, and nearly half of the load of laundry folded. WHOA!? Felicia was working on the bathroom and Daniel was onto the dishes. We got back home around 11:50, they were completely finished house was clean and good to go. I did a quick inspection and was so happy to come home to a home that felt just as clean and refreshing as a lovely hotel. Toilet paper was made into a beautiful bow, ovens cleaned off, bathrooms spotless, sheets changed, carpets vacuumed, and every picture frame in this house dusted off. The bonus was that my convection oven was spotless and I could see right through the glass. They must have cut through that grease with lasers. I couldn't have been happier with our decision to hire a cleaning service. Our silicon valley work/live lifestyles are just too busy to keep a house clean.
