I've worked in repair shops and on vehicles for over 25 years. My vehicle had no engine problems or concerns. After having a rear bumper only repaired via insurance, the car immediately started overheating, engine failing, I immediately noticed that the front bumper was not the original paint, ram air scoop under engine bay was replaced with an old one, multiple engine components/adjacent components were removed and replaced with none-original parts. Over the years I continually take photos of the engine bay and have tons of evidence and videos saved in the cloud and in emails. Everything was reported to the insurance company as well. After coming out of a nearby parking lot, I noticed that my rear bumper was hit and, of course, no note at all. As such, I needed to bring the car into a shop that I fully trust and has always done right by me. There was only once choice and that was AB Collision in Matawan. I made arrangements to bring it in on Tuesday 12/2, and was greeted by the personnel at the front desk. Omar proceeded to assess the damage and set expectations. Omar said they would see what can be done to repair the rear bumper cover, but also stated that there was a good chance that it very well may require replacement. Nicole called me a couple of hours after I brought the car in and confirmed that the rear number cover needed to be replaced and she arranged for the part to be ordered. I have dealt with Nicole in the past and she is incredibly knowledgeable, answers all of your questions and quells your concerns. A loaner car was arranged for me. As promised on the day it was brought in, I received a call from AB advising me that the car would be ready for pick up after 2:00 PM today (Friday). The car was returned to me in immaculate condition. New bumper cover, perfect paint match, car washed and the inside was thoroughly cleaned. Car was also recalibrated. I used to think highly of this company, including their Staten Island locations. Key words: used to. When my car got hit by an unavoidable object, my first thought was to bring it to A&B. They'd worked on my car at another location a few years ago (when it got hit in a parking lot) and they'd fixed my husband's car after an accident. Both times I was satisfied with their service, so I trusted them this time as well. The first day I came in for consultation, everything was great. One of the mechanics (very friendly and knowledgable) took a look at my car, gave me a quote with a breakdown of each item plus labor costs, and I agreed to it. The repair was done a few days later (on time, and I was kept up to date), I paid for the repair, and everything was great. That's where the good stuff ends. A couple of days later, I noticed that my bumper popped out on the right side. I contacted A&B, they were very nice about it, and they took care of the issue by reseating the bumper. Pleasantries were exchanged, everything was good, I left happy. A few days after that, I noticed that my bumper had popped out on the left side now. No problem. I contacted A&B, they were very nice about it, and I brought the car in. Except this time, someone called who I presume was the owner over. He then proceeded to tell me that it was my driving that caused the bumper to pop out again. I have no idea why or how, so I ask some questions only to get spoken to like I'm an idiot. Afterwards, the owner says that he'll have his team secure the bumper for me as if he's doing me a favor after saying I'm the problem. During that same visit, the owner and a couple of other employees showed me that a bracket was broken. Someone else then explained to me what had happened in a much calmer, less accusatory way: apparently, I must have hit a pothole or something with enough force to break the bracket and the car is designed to have the bumper pop out whenever that happens. I don't recall hitting anything with the amount of force necessary to do that, but sure. I don't know a lot about cars, so I took the explanation in good faith. I agreed to pay for the replacement part and to have the bumper reseated again. I brought the car in a couple of days later, they did the repair, and I left not happy, but at the very least relieved that we shouldn't have any more issues. We're a little more than a week afterwards and, lo and behold, a few days ago I noticed that the left side of my bumper is sticking out once more. Unless I've gone off-roading in my sleep, there's no reason for this to have happened again. I want to make sure that anyone reading this review knows that during this whole ordeal that I never once accused anyone at this business of doing the wrong thing and that I was polite and cordial throughout the process. I made sure to show gratitude every step of the way because regardless of how the owner acted, pretty much everyone else was professional. Honestly, that's the reason why this review is two stars instead of one. To also be fair to the business: everything was done on time, and I was made aware of any changes or parts that needed to be ordered along the way. There are plenty of other people who have been happy with their repairs, and if all you care about is getting the job done, then this place should be good enough. I can't speak to whether or not the prices are fair, but I'll say that I paid $2k out of pocket and not through insurance (to be clear, it was for more than just the bumper). I don't know if that impacts anything price-wise. I don't even mind that I had to come back to have the car looked at again after the initial repair. Stuff happens, I get that, and I'm not about to get my undies in a wad over something trivial. The negativity in this review doesn't come only from having to come back multiple times. Like I said, it really wasn't that big of a deal. A lot of it comes from how I was spoken to by the owner and how I was told something was my fault when I now know it clearly wasn't. You can't treat your customers that way. I understand that dealing with people all the time who are probably complaining about every little thing can grate on you, and it could very well just be that the owner had a bad day, but don't take that out on the people who are genuinely just trying to make sure the job you were paid to do was done correctly, especially when it comes to a potential safety issue. All that said, I'm going to go to a different place to see if they can tell me what's actually going on. I'm done with A&B. read more

This is a review one year after my repair. My car had the front bumper, one fender, and portions of the hood painted, and it looked great when I picked it up. Unfortunately a year later, it has more rock chips on it than it had in all of its prior years combined. I think the paint was either too thin, too soft, or maybe not cured properly. I took it by to show them and they claimed everyone gets rock chips and that it isn't their fault. Maybe they're right- but I don't think so. Only the parts they painted are affected by this. Of course rock chips happen, but how the paint responds to the stress is very much in their control, and will vary based on the quality of the paint and its application. I give them 2 stars because the car really did look good at first. It's a shame it couldn't stay that way. read more

I chose this establishment because it was rated so highly - not sure what for. I was promised to get my car back by a certain date, i got it back 3 days later. I was promised to be kept in the loop if anything were to change, and no one told me was car wasn't going to be ready(which would've been fine if they had told me and if I wasn't paying for a rental car daily). I had to find out by calling them myself a day later. My stuff is missing, my wiring for my dash cam is taken down, and now my radio won't work. This place lies to you about what they can do for you and if you bring it to their attention they won't do anything. I told the manager why I was upset and all he said was, "well what do you want to do now". Umm idk maybe get my car back on time and in workable condition? My car was damaged by a fungus ( Artillary fungus) that sprayed spores all over my Jeep and damaged the paint and other areas. Progressive Insurance sent me to A&B where I met with Omar whom I believe is the manager/owner. He was very professional, helpful and friendly. I was initially surprised at how long it was going to take to fix my Jeep, believing it would be a minor paint repair. I had not realized the damage the mold had caused and Omar had replaced every part of the outside of my Jeep including the windshield, ragtop, bumpers and side mirrors including the paint! The Jeep looks like the day I bought it. What really impressed me was that A&B detailed the INSIDE of my Jeep, including the leather seats, doors, etc. The entire car inside and out looks like the day I drove it off the lot. I have never experienced such amazing service and attention to detail in the 40 years I have owned vehicles! A & B takes great pride in their work and repaired my Jeep as if they owned it. I have a jeep wrangler jk. I got into a 4 car accident, my damage was a damaged shock, muffler ripped off, tire carrier ripped off, dented tail gate and dented rear quarter panel. The repairs done are beautiful. You would never know I was in an accident. They fixed all of the accident damage and then some. My back bumper was rusted and peeling, they sanded and painted this bumper and the front bumper and winch. They made me love my jeep again. I had been thinking about getting rid of it. The work that was done on my war was immaculate. I had leased a 2013 BMW 320i that had significant amount of wear and tear through out the three year lease. When it was time to return the car, I was facing a steep fee by the dealer for damages. My car had scraped rims, damaged paint on the bumper, a missing reflecting light, and various dings around the car. After thorough research and referrals, I came across Key auto body. Needless to say, I had an unbelievable experience renovating my car. I was astonished with how professional and detailed the car came back. My car was towed here after an accident and against my better judgment I left it there. I should have listened to the mediocre reviews that I read online. Once I received my car back I was still having an issue so I brought it back to get fixed, they didn't fix it. So I called again and agree waiting 2 WEEKS for someone to call me back I finally called this auto company. I brought it in again and they "attempted" to fix it. Once again I picked up my car and am still having the same issue. And now they refuse to fix this problem claiming its a recall. DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE.
