Having an old car has its challenges. One of those challenges are finding a place to do a smog check every 2 years. A&B Smog is spectacular. Called around 11am on a friday and asked if they can do a smog check for a 1996 vehicle. They said yes! Technician was polite and professional. Said since car is quite old there's always a chance of not passing. The whole thing took about 20 minutes and she passed! It was $65 all in which I think is a great price. I will be coming back here when my 96 or any of my other cars are due for a smog check. read more

Only smog checks; the ones the DMV makes you do before paying for your car registration. It is no frills. Its atmosphere is distinctly "automobile repair garage". There are no vending machines, (mainly because the smog check? It's 10 minutes, in and out) And, it's reasonably priced. Also, there are no influencers here. Granted I've always passed. My 2014 Prius has a port under the steering column for connecting it to a computer so it can talk to the car, kinda like R2D2 talking to the Millenium Falcon's hyperdrive. No more spinning the drive wheels on a dynamometer for me. The owner/operator-- a laconic Asian gentleman-- efficiently does his thing and gets you outta there. The original owner still runs this shop. Nowadays the car just need to park in front of the entrance. He connects the cables from the test instrument to the car engine and read off the data. The test is done is 15 minutes and the data is transmitted to DMV directly. There are customer waiting areas with shade outside the shop, courtesy of the owner. Never dissatisfied in all the years getting the service done here. He is a one man operation and top notch at his job. So if you're in a hurry and he's a little busy, give him time and relax. I had one of the worst customer service experiences in my life today at this smog check shop. My usual smog check partner's machine shut down, so I called this shop to confirm if they were open. When I arrived, the man there (who seemed to be the owner) treated me with complete disrespect. Just like other reviewers mentioned, he was rude and dismissive from the start. He asked if I was an individual or a dealer. When I said I owned a dealership, he asked for the name. After I told him, he rolled his eyes and said he had never heard of it -- as if I was "nobody." If he hasn't heard of us, that's his problem, not mine. When I asked about the test results and suggested a possible cooperation price of $50 (since I pay that with another smog check shop I work with), he immediately threw my car keys back into the vehicle, took his paperwork away, and shouted from his office: "I don't do business with people like you. bargaining.Get out!" This is absolutely the worst attitude I've ever seen in business. In my line of work, customers bargain all the time -- even on cars worth thousands of dollars -- and I would never treat anyone like this. I strongly recommend everyone avoid this shop. read more

Blake has been the main person there for years, and it's nice to see a familiar, professional face every time I come in. I recently brought in my 2014 Accord for a STAR smog check. Their price was very competitive, and I really appreciate that they don't charge an extra fee just because the DMV requires a STAR certification. Another huge plus for me is that they accept credit cards. I rarely carry cash because it's such a hassle to go to the bank, so being able to pay by credit card makes the whole process much more convenient. I've been here a few times and Blake does an excellent job at smog checks each time. Very quick, just hand your keys and wait for 5-10 minutes. He's a chill and honest guy. A lot of the 1-star reviews does an injustice to Blake. He deals with a lot of unreasonable customers. Price is firm and yet people keep negotiating... even after he completed the job!!! I wanted to take time to Highly recommend A&B Smog Test Repair Center.. I was stressed having to help my dad with his vehicle, trying to get the smog passed. When my dad told me he went to another Smog place saying that he needed repairs first b4 they cud pass his car. They quoted him lots of money. I was furious so, i decided to look on my own. That's wen i stumbled upon A&B Smog Test Repair Center.. I called to see if i cud come by same day and the guy on the phone was very kind and told me to bring the vehicle in. As soon as i got to the Smog Center, i was greeted by a guy named Blake. He was very friendly & asked how he cud help.. I could tell he was eager to assist so, i told him the situation on what happened to my dad and how the other Smog Center was trying to rip him off.. Blake was very attentive and said he wud check for himself. As Blake had investigated to see what was going on, he noticed that two crucial parts to having the vehicle pass smog was installed incorrectly. Someone had intentionally did wrong on my dads vehicle so that he wud have to pay more money to get it fixed first b4 it cud pass.. I was very furious as to why people wud take advantage of senior citizens.. But luckily coming to this location, i felt a sigh of relief knowing that there is still good & honest people working in this line of work.. My dad was very happy and thankful to Blake. I noticed this Smog Center has been here for over 20years.. and it's no wonder that this station is still running. Honesty, Professionalism, Genuine, Patience & Caring..
