The staff was extremely friendly. They had my car for the day to work on brakes and a check engine light and stayed in constant communication the whole time to give me updates. Instead of upselling me on the brakes/rotors they inspected them, told me they were still good and let me know how much longer they should last. My check engine code was read on the spot and explained before I even had an appointment so I would know what to expect. I couldn't recommend the shop enough based on my experienced. My breaks were making a weird noise when I started it up. My usual mechanic is first come first serve and wasn't able to take me. I looked online and saw that A&D Autowerks had great reviews so I decided to call them. They were able to squeeze me in last minute because they cared about my safety on the road despite the fact they are appointment only. They checked my breaks and noted that the noise is probably from the material and gave me a report on the status of my current breaks . Eric reassured me that there is no damage to my car. I was so surprised when they gave me a print out of everything they checked and the price was $0! Eric was absolutely wonderful and helpful. A&D has earned a new customer and I will definitely be back. He said that they were booked out usually 2 weeks so make sure to make an appointment 2 weeks prior to my services if I can. I came in to replace a transmission seal. Months later I noticed a leak in my car. It was the color of a transmission leak. I went back to the shop suspecting that one of the seals just wasn't put on correctly or a bad part. They then diagnosed that my car had a separate leak and that it was an oil leak instead....oil and transmission fluid have different colors. So, I did maintenance to fix the oil leak at another shop because of A & D's lazy inspection. Yesterday, was the last straw. I came back to push for one more inspection on the transmission leak, yet they made an excuse that the oil leak was not fixed properly because it was done at another shop. They didn't even bother checking the bottom of my car. The "oil leak" he showed me was the pre-existing one. The fluid is completely dry. There's nothing dripping. Super frustrating having to deal with them. Please just take my car on a lift and inspect the bottom of my car lol. read more

A&D was recommended to us by a friend of ours that has a used car business and brings all of his "non-super cars" to A&D. One of the most important requirements we asked for when was someone that we could trust. I think this is one of the most common concerns when finding a new mechanic. My partner had taken her car in a few months ago for normal maintenance, and had great things to say about them. Today was my first personal experience with A&D, and I will say that they deserve all the hype! I was told by my partner to take the car in to have them investigate the service light & get the oil change. When I arrived, they looked up the service history, and informed me that it was too soon to have the oil changed. We then were able to diagnose why the light had come on. (We had changed the battery which turned the light off, but didn't actually reset it.) They reset the service light for me, and sent me on my way... no charge. They just said they would see me next time, which they definitely will. Any business that turns away business will always get my trust & respect. I came in at least expecting to get an oil change, so they could have easily performed the maintenance and sent me on my way as a still happy customer. The fact that they sacrificed a bit of profits to build a solid ongoing relationship means they are the type of business that I will consistently give my business to. read more

Very disappointed with this place. I had called months prior to get a price check on how much a basic oil change would be if I provided my own oil. They said $25 for labor + $5-6 for filter, called two weeks ago to schedule my oil change appt and got same exact price response in phone call so I proceeded to book my appt. Came to my appt and first of all, they claimed my oil housing filter had to be replaced because it was tightened too much from my last oil change so they had to use a prybar to open it and it punctured a hole. That ended up costing me an extra $50 to replace... The cherry on top is when I got my bill it was $35 for oil change labor and $9 for filter. Not only was I charged more than told but also that whole filter replacement ordeal was frustrating. Really disappointed in the dishonesty that I received, really tried to like the place. Had I known this was the actual price then I wouldn't have booked in the first place. Will be taking my business elsewhere next time. read more

I was referred to this place for their work on Volvos. I wasn't able to get an appt for 2 weeks but luckily the issue wasn't critical. They did say if for whatever reason my car could not be driven that I could tow it there before my appointment. They took my car in timely & were able to pressure test for a coolant leak. I asked to see the leak and they were happy to let me into their work station. I didn't see an active leak but did see dried coolant everywhere. They suspected a hose needed replacing which is similar to what other mechanics had told me. The others had also told me the thermostat was leaking which they did not initially notice. When I made mention of that, I guess they reassessed and came back stating that also had a leak. They gave me a fair quote (I looked up the price of the parts myself) and they were willing to have it done by the next morning and delivered on that. I was actually able to pick my car up that afternoon! Overall I had a good experience. They were friendly and kind. The only thing I would complain about was that I was told over the phone they would diagnose my car for free with no stipulations on having the work done there. After the diagnosis, they were charging me for 30 mins of labor (~$58) unless I decided to leave my car with them that day to be repaired. If I drove away, I would have had to pay. It would have been nice for this to be communicated prior. They did, however, allow me time to make a decision and weren't pushy about it. Other than that, I would say they were very nice, professional and punctual. They seemed genuine in their responses when I asked questions which put me at ease. Car issues always stress me out. Brought my 2012 Honda civic in to get her checked out. She was making high pitched/grinding noises when I drove her and let the shop know. Took her in on a Monday and got her back on Tuesday (could've gotten her on Monday but my schedule didn't allow me to pick her up). Let me preface that my car is about to hit 100k miles and only has had regular maintenance done. I'm already expecting to have to pay a lot for things to be replaced. They originally quoted me for about 1.7k worth of repairs but I walked away with paying 1k. I had to have my rotors, break pads, air filters, fluids and some plugs repaired. Their service was awesome. I've taken my past car (Volkswagen beetle) here and they've been nothing but amazing. Straight up, honest and nice people at this business. The only downside is how packed they get. I was told to call 1 week in advance to get in their books. I did do that, but they were already booked 2 weeks out! Recently my wife's Acura started sounding like there was a suspension issue...noisy, rattling, sounded horrible on Balboa driving over the streams of potholes). I called a few places and felt like the mechanics wanted to talk about everything else other than the suspension. Called A&D Autowerks, I explained what was going on and he agreed it sounded like the suspension (struts) were going out so he set up time to inspect the car. From the moment we walked in we were treated like long term customers, I mean we felt truly valued the moment we stepped foot in the lobby. It was such a difference from other shops in the area. Lobby is super clean and there is a door open to the shop highlighting that the work area is well organized and clean which is a big deal to me. This place is pretty busy but we never felt rushed. Long story short, got our car back same day, had the struts replaced, oil change and alignment for several hundred dollars ($500) less than the other shops quoted for the struts alone. Plus, when I asked about the rear shocks and he advised to wait until the next oil change and reevaluate as they are going out but still have life left! This is a win every day to me! Stoked to have a shop that I trust to work on my wife's car without the worry they will upsell or convince her to do work that is unnecessary. Arne saved me over $1500! I have a 2017 VW eGolf and while backing out of my narrow driveway, I accidentally hit our gate and damaged my passenger-side, electric, side mirror. None of the plastic housings were cracked, just a few of the inside clips. The electric mirror still worked, but the part connected to the car was pushed forward and needed to be pulled in. My husband, brother-in-law and I tried to push it back into place without any luck. I went to the VW dealer and asked them put it would cost to simple push the mirror back and reassemble the plastics. They said the whole mechanism would have to be replaced and when fixing, the mirror itself was known to break, so likely they would have to replace that, the housing clips were broken, they would have to order new housing parts and they would have to be painted to match...total of $1500!!! That seemed outrageous because the mirror was functioning just fine. I was ready to take it home and try strong-arming it again and using some duck-tape to hold it together. I searched on Yelp for VW mechanics close by and found A&D Autowerks. I called them and Arne answered the phone. He was really honest and said that parts are pretty expensive, but told me to bring it by for a look. Arne met me outside and long-story-short, he wedged that mirror back into place and I have no idea how he did it. He then took a look at the plastic housing and noticed that at least one of the clips were still intact on each piece. He told me to cross my fingers, popped both back into place and gave me a huge smile. My mirror looks perfect, not even a scratch on the housing paint and it works! Arne was such a great guy that I took my car back to him for it's 20K service the following week. Again, spectacular service, reasonable price and wonderful mechanics. If you need a mechanic, take your car to A&D. Oh and ignore the "e" in Autowerks. They do repairs and maintenance on all kinds of cars, not just German brands.
