I have used Tri State on 2 separate jobs now over the past year or so. Both jobs I would consider…read moresomewhat custom. I live in an old building in OTR, on the top floor, in a building with no elevator. First let me say that I had a number of contractors come and quote the jobs, many would not even submit a quote after they had to climb the 78 stairs to see what I wanted done. The ones that did submit a quote where often very difficult to get a hold of for questions or followup. Tri State was one of the very few that was very responsive and submitted a competitive bid for the work. Summary of work: 1st job: Put up walls and doors in an open space in my condo. This involved moving/rerouting some electric and dealing with ceilings that sloped all over the place. We had most of the work done while we were gone on vacation. Overall the timeline slipped a little, but Tri State got the work done as expected and the end result looks great. No one who visits my condo would know that the walls and doors never existed if I don't tell them. Main thing that could have been improved on this job was cleanup after each days work. 2nd job: Shower replacement and significant changes to the kitchen. This job required a good amount of demo, plus the use temporary sinks/counters while the project progressed. Tri State put in a good amount of work to overcome things like plumbing issues that were found when the old shower was removed and their team was flexible to get those resolved. The kitchen required a good amount of custom work with stainless steel, while everything did not go perfectly, Tri State made sure that everything was right and that I was completely satisfied. Overall their people are very friendly and trustworthy, they were in my condo a lot with no one else there, there was never a problem nor did I get any complaints from my neighbors. Construction projects that are non-trivial will always encounter some sort of problem, the key is does the contractor work with you to get a good solution. Tri State always made sure there was a good solution when there was a problem so the project could meet the end design goal.

Ken came out, checked out our projects, got back to us in a timely manner with pricing and was able to get us on the schedule. We hired Home Remodeling Specialist to rebuild our mud room and build out/re-do our laundry space. The mudroom was in such a dire state and we wanted to have it rebuilt in kind. Ken and his crew did an amazing job. They were very attentive and careful as the demoed the walls being mindful of our old home (1815). The mudroom came out AMAZING, the detail, the look, the quality of craft! We love it. Our laundry room project was challenging as we wanted to have a tall frame (that had lots of trim detail) and a wall opened up so we could access the laundry area easier. The team, yet again, did a great job, the laundry and hallway looks as if it was always there. I have to emphasize the casework detail in incredible. The quality of craftsmanship was truly excellent--every detail was handled with care and precision. I can't speak to this organizations work because we never got to that end, but the owner's complete lack of respect for time and simple customer courtesy did not exist. I contacted Onsight Construction on the referral of two friends and after viewing some of his work online... 10/6 Thursday - called and left mssg re: job estimate. Voicemail said "your call is important to me...I will return it no later than end of business the following day" I0/11 Tuesday - Five days later, Owner Matt M called and said his phone was having problems and he got a huge dump of messages (including mine) the night before. Not happy with such a late response, but scheduled for estimate on Thursday two days later anyway 10/13 Thursday - Matt comes out and in 15 mins reviews the three jobs suggesting they're an easy fix, offers some alternative ideas, takes my email and says "Give me a day or two and I'll email you an estimate" 10/18 Tuesday - Five days later I still haven't heard from Matt so I call asking about the estimate 10/21 Friday - Two days more and still nothing so I call again and leave my name and email awaiting a response 10/27 Thursday - Six more days and still nothing so I leave a message asking for anyone to return my call, hoping somebody would abide by the "return your call by end of business the following day" mantra 10/28 Friday - In a last ditch effort I attempted contact through email on their company website noting that I understand scheduling the work may be a negotiable time frame based on the jobs they already may have booked, but all I wanted was acknowledgement and an opportunity to accept/decline their work (i.e. A return call to discuss options) To this date, three weeks later - nothing. Highly disappointed with a company that completely dropped the ball when it comes to common courtesy and good customer service.....
