I suspected that my best price would be outside of Santa Barbara, and these guys had THE BEST PRICE! They are from Oxnard, and perhaps because they are in house, their pricing was way better??? I don't know. But I took a chance on them and they not only delivered the best price, they delivered great work! Ours was a tricky project: an old Victorian in the heart of downtown Santa Barbara, designated as an historic, "of merit home"... whoever bid on this project would have more hoops to go through before they could begin the work. Jose patiently took care of the permitting process, (I did have to get involved a couple of times as the city planning department is difficult to work with), but once we got the permit, Avila roofing got down to business like the pros they are! We had 6 layers of roofing material, yes, 6! I don't think they'd ever seen so many layers. The demo process was a lot more arduous and time consuming than they had initially anticipated. No matter, they did not complain. They took on the job and they were going to deliver. It took them a good week to demo, and then the repairs started: replacing old and rotten wood with new ones, installing insulation where needed, and when problems arose, (like when they found a bee hive with over 30,000 bees, they waited for us to clear the problem) before they progressed. No complaints. I'm under construction at the house, so there were a bunch of other debris... they worked around the mess, and at the end of each day, they cleaned up before they left. Huge thank you for that! Try them out, I've been in the construction business for a long time. I don't mess around with fancy names and marketing. Then I started to get estimates for local and whole roof repair. I got 3 quotes from bigger, more established companies. Their quotes were all pretty close, high 20's-low 30's. As luck would have it, Angel Carrillo just knocked on my door. He saw the tarp on the roof and offered to give us a quote. And boy, am I glad he did. Angel showed me how they use a self-adhesive layment that is more expensive but much stronger and longer-lasting than what other companies go with. I checked them out online. But only LI Metal Systems was the consistent one in terms of communication and follow up. I met with Michael Craven. A nice man older gentleman who is very professional and easy to work with. We setup a date and time to meet. He arrived on time and we discussed what I needed. He then took the time to measure, draw up a sketch of the work, and provided a quote on the spot. It was a no pressure estimate. He left and just said to reach out if I want to proceed. I got another quote from another company, but they were unlicensed. The other 2 were flaky, scheduling an estimate 3 weeks far in advance, and not responsive. I picked LI to the work. Someone called to schedule the install. They were flexible. The tech showed up and he had an official LI Metal Systems truck and uniform. A very pleasant man named Rafael. He reviewed the installation just to verify he has the correct information. He provided a time estimate. Overall, the work is fantastic and it looks really well done. It's seamless and installed properly and neat. I was worried at first because they didn't gave any reviews.
