I hired A&G for the first time about 1 1/2 years ago and since then they have become my go-to for most projects that need doing at our house. My mom has even hired them for a project! I find them reliable, honest, very hard working, and responsive to what we need. I've asked them to change things mid-project because something wasn't coming out and they made the changes. The first project completed was the most complex. When we added a second bath and a laundry room to our house, we configured things so that we could add a second closet in the master bedroom. Our contract told me that he "doesn't do closets". The contractor's people framed the new closet but it had no doors. We have a mid-century house and I wanted the new closet to match the old ones and it does! Only we will ever know it was added later. I also wanted cabinets built into the laundry room. I designed them with deep drawers to hold two cat boxes and I had the house contractor add a vent in the wall so that the cat boxes have fresh air flow. When Jose built the cabinets and cat box drawers, he added a fan with a smart switch! Now we can turn the fan on if there is something stinky in there! Check out the photos of the cabinets. Since that project, Jose has built us a new fence, which we LOVE! We asked him to use the pre-made fence panels from Lowe's and add vertical boards at the top to make it a bit taller. It looks great. Not sure why every review here is so high. It definitely fooled us. We hired Jose to finish up small things that our old contractor left. They did a decent job, so we decided to get a patio cover done. From $2k during conversations to $4k bid to finally paying over $6k, there was no transparency in pricing. He said he wouldn't need to be paid until the job is finalized but turns out it's when a 'stage' of the job is finished that he decides. Despite all this, the patio cover is leaking - clearly he didn't know how to do this. He left us for a month after we asked for it to be fixed and whatever he did, did not work. It's very upsetting as we trusted him. After he left, we also realized that the other work he did was also sloppy. The thin brick should be a clear red but is covered with white residue (he told me to power wash it myself), the fence was supposed to be braced but the nails have pierced the fence and ruined the boards. Adding pictures and video to confirm this. There are plenty of other issues we had with his professionalism and transparency. They're not cut out for big jobs. Called Jose for a new job. Front door needed a security screen door installed. The installation had to be custom because the decorative bricks in front. Jose approached the project, sculpting out a precise rabbet joint in the bricks for one of the vertical frames for the door. Any issues he did have were dealt with swiftly, getting the install to my exact satisfaction. I can now rest a bit easier knowing my elderly family has another layer of security, and a way to keep the front door open for breeze while maintaining security. Thanks again Jose. read more

I own rental houses so I have quite a bit of experience with contractors and service organizations. I have worked with A&G Remodeling on a few projects and they are one of the best companies out there. Jose is an experienced and highly skilled worker that offers quality services and repairs at competitive prices. Even more importantly, he is an honest, professional and ethical business person that stands behind his work. Not only will Jose develop multiple options when quoting a job but will offer money saving suggestions that many other companies overlook. The most recent repair that Jose worked on was a gate that had been severely damaged from a fallen tree. The challenge with this repair is an underground gas line is located right in the area of the gate. He and his son Gabriel carefully dug a hole for the new post and was able to work around the line without any issues. For this job, they were able to re-use some of the original wood and latch hardware. The new gate looks great and actually works much better than the original gate. If you are looking for someone to perform remodeling, repairs and other contractor related work, I cannot recommend anyone more highly than Jose and Gabriel and I will continue to use their services for future projects. read more

Wow...if only all trades people were as straightforward and responsible as Jose of A&G, all of us who venture into the world of home improvement would have way less stress! We did a major revision of our backyard, handled by others, and when done, we realized that we had forgotten a small item, adding height to the masonry wall surrounding the area where our pool equipment is located. Our effort was one of utility, not aesthetics. (See before and after pictures) Jose came over, took a look at the project and promptly gave me a price as well as giving a detailed explanation of how he planned to do the job. His approach seemed much more thorough than the other two quotes I had received. His price was somewhat higher, but he was reasonable and adjusted a little bit (we split the difference between the next lower quote), and I didn't hesitate to pay more to get better attention to a job. I wasn't disappointed when he came to do the job. He spent parts of three days on the project, ALWAYS wore a mask, checked in on a regular basis during each day he was here to make sure I was happy with the job, and made sure the place was spotless at the end of each of the three days he worked at our home. I was glad I used A&G (Jose), and will certainly use again. This guy will do any small job - shows up on time - finishes quickly - excellent quality - I am a physician and my dad was a carpenter so I recognize excellent finish work. He repaired a very old door to make it shut right. Took out a brick that was attached to a bannister - replaced it and re-drilled the attachment. Also filled a large hole in a wall eaten by rats - cut out and replaced the dry wall and re-spackled. I will never call another handyman. His prices are fair - not cheap but you get what you pay for. We asked Jose to repair some cracked exterior stucco and replace our chimney cap ahead of our exterior repainting of our house. We also asked for some exterior brick work repair. Jose gave a very reasonable price for all the work, he and his assistant showed up on time, worked efficiently and the work was of such high quality. After we painted the stucco it was very difficult to tell the difference between old and new because he had blended it so skillfully. It's not the first time I have used A&G.
