Distract your beloved with a YouTube video and call A & K. When I called, Michael was super upfront and honest with me about how long it would take, what it would cost, and when he would arrive. He quoted me $100 (way lower than an emergency room copay) for my small, one-story house. We worked out that I didn't need/want to be home during the experience, and even though I WAS home, I didn't notice he had even come! Three glorious hours early! Really? That's unheard of. The only evidence of his visit was a business card in my mailbox, a puddle under every downspout, and a bunch of gloriously empty gutters (okay, okay, I got on the ladder for two seconds to take a photo). We spoke on the phone later on and he answered my previous question about the roof condition and he was very honest with me again about not needing more service up there than semiannually. With the recent deluge of rain we've been receiving it became paramount to me that I have a reputable quality firm look at my rain gutters stat. I looked up a handful of companies via Yelp and asked for quotes. Some got back to me quickly and others I did not hear back until much later. I messaged Michael at A&K Gutter Cleaning via the Yelp app on Tuesday morning and after agreeing to have him do the work he took care of my gutters Wed afternoon. Of note, he started and completed the job while it was raining and while I wasn't home. Michael messaged me confirming the job had been completed and provided the details on what he had done, the state of my gutters, and a few recommendations for the future. By the time I came home late Wed, my downspouts were freely flowing and I could not tell he was even there. The whole process with A&K flowed with no fuss. Dec. 4, 2020 - service date. They spent about 30 mins. They got on the roof and ran a blower across the gutters to blow out the leaves. They cleaned around the area of debris. A competent job, friendly. But, ... The invoice states "All downspouts are now clear." Problem is, they did not confirm that the downspouts were clear. Last time they came out, they ran water down the downspouts. They did not do that this time, so I am not sure how they can make that statement in the invoice. $175. Amazing! I called this morning to get a quote on a small repair and on cleaning. Michael came to take a look, took care of the repair on the spot and even removed some of the debris that had accumulated in the gutter. He recommended that we wait for all the pine needles from the tree next door to come down before we schedule him to clean the gutters. I don't know much about roof-tops, but I'm pretty sure they're not supposed to have foliage growing out of them unless they're specifically designed as "garden rooftops." Our house was sporting the weedy fringe look when we moved in, and well, that sort of seemed like the wrong look. (Even gutters have standards!) When you're new to ladders and being on top of two-story buildings, sometimes it's best just to let the professionals handle it. Fortunately, we lucked out and found a true professional on our first attempt at looking. Michael has now cleaned our entire gutter system and roof twice (including unclogging and reattaching downspouts as needed). We are thrilled with his pleasant demeanor, efficient and thorough work, and very reasonable rates. ($125-150 for the whole shebang). Be very wary of using this company. I called them among along with other vendors to get bids for gutter cleaning. While they were quite responsive and able to come out while I was at work to provide a bid, I learned that they went ahead and cleaned the gutters without my okay. They proceeded to call and ask for their payment and I tried to reason with them that I was looking for bids only and maybe needed to clean them since selling the house. I told him that I would look to pay him if roof repair was required to sell. This turned out to be not the case and now threatening me with a lawsuit for a $250 "cleaning" fee. To reason with him I asked if he would split the cost and call it a misunderstanding, but to no avail. Talk about customer service, doing work without a verbal or written contract, and charging the customer or sue them. read more

Good communication and prompt service The rain was heading our way again, so I needed someone to come out pretty quickly. I had called several companies and they either quoted me a ridiculous price or insisted that they needed to see the house to provide a quote. Michael responded the day I called 3 vendors for bids (big rains coming), knowing the gutters of our newly-acquired home were filled with silt, leaves, moss, & other gump; as well as damaged and separated from roof in one section. He offered an appointment the next day (Saturday). Showed up on time, climbed on the roof to look at every gutter and downspout. Offered a reasonable price to both fix what was broken and clean all gutters. Michael did everything expeditiously and with explanations or advice where needed. He had offered to replace the old clogged downspout filters but, after completing the other work, he decided not to sell us the new ones because we might well not need them; wait and see, before incurring that cost. I was pleasantly surprised to see every inch of the sun damaged brittle plastic rain guards to be fully removed just because logistically it couldn't have been easy to access on a Spanish cement tile 2 story roof. The rood has no damage and the clean up was so well done that we didn't know you managed to come by a day earlier than planned to beat the coming rain. My wife had noticed a wet walkway and water had been used that day but I chalked it up to gardeners. Pricing was reasonable and payment was very easy. The water during the recent torrential rain went through the downspouts as designed rather than over the edges of the gutters. We will be back in the future. Just got off the phone with Michael. Called to ask him for an estimate on cleaning our gutters. He pulled up our house online (I'm guessing Google Maps) and asked me a bunch of questions about our past cleanings, issues with the roof, and the state of the gutters. He questioned whether they even needed to be cleaned. Pretty soon he was talking me out of getting them cleaned, at least for now. He said to call back if we have problems once the rain starts. He also gave me helpful advice on sealing vs. replacing gutters. Ours are rusted and probably need to be replaced. Who runs a business and talks customers out of hiring him? This guy does. It was a little shocking how honest Michael was. It's not often that you find someone running a business who is actually looking out for your best interest.
