Not a bad result in the end, but had a few problems getting there. When I bought this house recently, my window sill a was covered with some kind of spongy caulk-like material, and it was deterioraing. I was looking for someone who could rebuild the sill before I went out of town for two weeks. EM came out quick and got to work. One of the workers asked if they could use metal on the sides of the work area instead of stucco because the sides were also composed of the same caulk-like material. Based on that, I said ok. This was on a Friday and they said they would be back on Monday to finish the job. When I arrived back from vacation two weeks later, the job was unfinished and leaking. It took another two weeks to get them back out to finish, even after letting them know it was leaking. They didn't cover the area so I had to go on the roof and put a tarp over it. They also left the window trim sitting on the sill soaking wet. Later after reviewing the before photos and talking to my other contractor I found out that that the sides were indeed stucco. I feel like they mislead me to take a shortcut, despite our contract stating the sides would be stucco. read more

In Sept 2025, EM Roofing of Redwood City replaced our 40 year old shake roof with Certainteed Presidential TL Solaris composite shingles. Eduardo Montoya (owner) oversaw the project, and his brother, Mauricio, was foreman and one of the primary roofers. The roof replacement was challenging due to the size, steepness, and angles of the roof lines. The team was very careful and stayed safe using harnesses and ropes throughout the two-week project. They also kept us safe by cleaning up the mess at the end of each day. Mauricio and the roofing team were always very professional, showed up on time each day, and took care to listen to our questions and make design adjustments throughout. EM Roofing is completely unprofessional, careless, and refuses to take responsibility for the damage they caused during a roof replacement on the home I currently live in. The workers were recklessly tossing around heavy bags and equipment on the roof, and their carelessness caused visible damage inside my home. One of my bedroom ceilings developed large cracks, and a light fixture was pushed out of place -- you could literally see debris and paint on the floor from the impact! The vibrations from their work clearly caused it. When I contacted the owner, Eduardo, and had him come see the damage in person, he blatantly dismissed it and tried to tell me it was unrelated to their work. I showed him multiple pictures of the cracks, the displaced light, and the debris -- and he still claimed I had "no proof." We had just a small job of getting leaf guards put over our rain gutters. After consulting about our needs and type of debris we were getting, Edwardo recommended 2 types for us to choose from. These guards are sturdy and permanent, and will keep our gutters free of leaves, twig pieces, and asphalt tile bits. I got a roof repair job done by EM Roofing in spring 2024. I would give them the highest possible rating. They did a fast, professional job of repairing my roof by replacing a portion of the tarpaper and shingles. They also repaired a portion of the tar and gravel portion of my roof. They got the whole job done in less than one day, they did a thorough job of clean up. The workers were polite and professional. The job passed San Mateo County inspection and cost was reasonable. Watching his team of workers complete the job with attention to detail and cleaning up at the end of each day, I was impressed. They provided a very fair estimate for replacing my roof.
