Not a bad result in the end, but had a few problems getting there. When I bought this house recently, my window sill a was covered with some kind of spongy caulk-like material, and it was deterioraing. I was looking for someone who could rebuild the sill before I went out of town for two weeks. EM came out quick and got to work. One of the workers asked if they could use metal on the sides of the work area instead of stucco because the sides were also composed of the same caulk-like material. Based on that, I said ok. This was on a Friday and they said they would be back on Monday to finish the job. When I arrived back from vacation two weeks later, the job was unfinished and leaking. It took another two weeks to get them back out to finish, even after letting them know it was leaking. They didn't cover the area so I had to go on the roof and put a tarp over it. They also left the window trim sitting on the sill soaking wet. Later after reviewing the before photos and talking to my other contractor I found out that that the sides were indeed stucco. I feel like they mislead me to take a shortcut, despite our contract stating the sides would be stucco. read more

In Sept 2025, EM Roofing of Redwood City replaced our 40 year old shake roof with Certainteed Presidential TL Solaris composite shingles. Eduardo Montoya (owner) oversaw the project, and his brother, Mauricio, was foreman and one of the primary roofers. The roof replacement was challenging due to the size, steepness, and angles of the roof lines. The team was very careful and stayed safe using harnesses and ropes throughout the two-week project. They also kept us safe by cleaning up the mess at the end of each day. Mauricio and the roofing team were always very professional, showed up on time each day, and took care to listen to our questions and make design adjustments throughout. If I could give this company ZERO stars, I absolutely would. EM Roofing is completely unprofessional, careless, and refuses to take responsibility for the damage they caused during a roof replacement on the home I currently live in. The workers were recklessly tossing around heavy bags and equipment on the roof, and their carelessness caused visible damage inside my home. One of my bedroom ceilings developed large cracks, and a light fixture was pushed out of place -- you could literally see debris and paint on the floor from the impact! The vibrations from their work clearly caused it. When I contacted the owner, Eduardo, and had him come see the damage in person, he blatantly dismissed it and tried to tell me it was unrelated to their work. I showed him multiple pictures of the cracks, the displaced light, and the debris -- and he still claimed I had "no proof." This company clearly does not care about your home, your safety, or standing behind their work. The lack of accountability and professionalism is shocking. I've worked with Eduardo (owner) on a few small projects over the years and then recently contracted with him to replace the roof on our house. He said it would take 3-4 days and sure enough the job was completed in 3 days (from removal of the old roof to new roof installed). To give you a sense for the type of person Eduardo is, sometime ago (before we had our new roof installed) I asked him if he could inspect a new roof my mother-in-law had had installed by another company. She lives in San Jose which is outside of where EM Roofing normally operates, but Eduardo made a special trip down there to check it out and give my mother-in-law peace of mind. She then tried to pay him for his time but wouldn't accept anything. That, is the kind of person you'll be working with if you choose EM Roofing. We met several roofers for our whole house roof replacement and ended up choosing Eduardo and we are so happy that we did. He and his team were amazing to work with and we feel very fortunate. First, his team was very professional and each day cleaned up after themselves to make sure the yard was in great shape. They even had a magnetic tool that pulled all of the staples out of the pool from removing the old roof. Everything ran very smoothly and on-time, and the roof looks amazing. They even made sure to take care of our attic and help make sure that it was cleaned through the whole process. They did an excellent job in replacing a cedar wood shake with a new synthetic roof shake while accommodating the same roof deck space sheathing that is used for wood shake roofs. We had just a small job of getting leaf guards put over our rain gutters. After consulting about our needs and type of debris we were getting, Edwardo recommended 2 types for us to choose from. These guards are sturdy and permanent, and will keep our gutters free of leaves, twig pieces, and asphalt tile bits. They finished in less than half a day, and did a spectacular job of cleaning up the entire roof, gutters, and then the yard when they were done. Highly recommended! read more

I first met Eduardo when we needed to replace the front half of the roof at one of our properties over a year ago. I interviewed 3 roofers and chose Eduardo because of his clear and credible presentation. This turned out to be the right decision. Eduardo did a great job, and we were very pleased with the quality of the work. We had another occasion to get Eduardo's service during the huge rain storm last week. One of our other properties had a leak after days of continuous rain. We first had an inspection by another roofer, who proposed replacing a large part of the roof. Since the roof was fairly new, I was uncomfortable with his recommendation and contacted Eduardo. Eduardo was able to notice the missing cap on the chimney vent and recommended the simple fix of capping the vent. Eduardo's solution saved us a few thousand dollars. Value/price ratio was good 3) good clean up of nails and staples. One related piece of advice to the reader: trim your hedges and plants near house BEFORE the job. I got a roof repair job done by EM Roofing in spring 2024. I would give them the highest possible rating. They did a fast, professional job of repairing my roof by replacing a portion of the tarpaper and shingles. They also repaired a portion of the tar and gravel portion of my roof. They got the whole job done in less than one day, they did a thorough job of clean up. The workers were polite and professional. The job passed San Mateo County inspection and cost was reasonable. Other roofers were reluctant to take the job, they did not want to work on low slope roof, many excuses, etc. I got a fast quote from Eduardo. A tree fell on our garage roof, damaging solar panels and puncturing the roof and breaking some rafters. I had a small pool house that had a roof 25 years old and needed replacement. I got three bids and then a friend recommended I call EM Roofing. Eduardo came out and looked at the roof and I received a bid one day later. His price was significantly lower and with the recommendation I decided to use them.
