After the estimate he quickly patched all leaks between the storms. Moreover, I asked my general contractor to fix one of the leak since it came from newly added plumbing vent. Due to the heavy rain in December, my tenant informed me that the roofing was leaking. It was around Christmas time and the roofing companies were very busy. I contacted multiple roofing companies and didn't get much responses. Then I found JT Roofing on yelp with good reviews and decided to send a yelp message. Javier replied my message quickly and set up a time to come and check out the roof. Most companies gave you a time window to come and are normally late leaving you wonder whether they are coming or not. Javier gave me a time to come and also let me know by email that he was on the way. I showed him the leaking area. He checked the roof carefully and found some rotten nails and other things that could cause leaking. He caulked those areas up. Also he left the root caulk tube to us as this kind of root caulk is hard to buy in Home Depot or Lowes. He was so nice and didn't charge us a thing. Luckily the roof has not leaked yet in this week's heavy rain. He also gave us 2 quotes to fix up the leaking area or fix up the whole front side which we are still trying to decide. Javier and his family did a re-roof for me last week. I chose Javier after getting about 7 bids. His was the second lowest, and I chose him because he was honest, nice, and seemed like a young guy willing to work hard to improve his business. Also, he was local to Redwood City and his team includes his younger brother, father, and uncle, which is great. It turned out to be a great decision. Javier and his family worked quickly and efficiently and were done with my roof in 3 days (Mon-Wed). It looks great! Javier not only did a quick and efficient job with my roof, but he went above and beyond by helping to haul some drywall that my contractor left the in garage, painting some siding that was damaged during the job, cleaning bird droppings from my attic with his shot vac. When the rainy season started, we contacted JT Roofing again for gutter cleaning and gutter guard installation. We did not know much about gutter guards, and Javier recommended one that is reasonably priced and widely available to purchase for us. Javier finished all the cleaning and installation work in two hours. He also helped check the roof and chimney again, and patched some deteriorating caulking for us. It is three weeks after the installation now. Everything has been working great! We found out about JT Roofing through my brother-in-law who successfully used them to install a roof on a house they recently had bought. I contacted Javier and within a couple days he met me at my house to check our roof and get us a quote. We had a desire to install solar on our roof but we had a 30-year old shake roof. Although we had a little useful life left in the roof, it was pretty much a requirement to replace the roof first. My first impression with Javier was how thorough and diligent he was when checking our old roof and taking measurements of our roof. In all, we probably had at least five companies (Mostly large, high rated companies) come out to make bids on replacement and the level of detail each company put in really varied. Some companies just eyeballed our roof from the ground, others did climb up on the roof (we have about 4 or 5 different levels) and took rough measurements. But, Javier probably took 20-30 minutes to take very detailed measurements and drawings of each level. I knew then and there that Javier really took his work seriously and that accuracy in his work was important. A few days later we received his proposal and we were very pleased with the result. Their proposal was definitely the most fair and reasonable of all the bids we got. Sure, we got one quote much cheaper from another vendor, but we were wary of their bid since they did the quote simply by using satellite photos from Google and never came out in person. Given that my brother-in-law was very happy with Javier's work and that his bid was very reasonable, we decided to move forward with him. Lucky for us, Javier was able to install our roof in the next week as one of his projects had to be moved back (Most other companies were at least 8-weeks out). It just happened to be during one of the bigger storms this winter and we were a little hesitant to have Javier begin his work, but he assured us that he would be checking the weather constantly and that every day when they complete their day the house would be 100% waterproof. True to his word, his team was able to work on our roof section by section throughout the storm and not a single drop of water entered the house. Javier and his team were able to complete the job in the estimated time frame and we were extremely happy with the work. His team was very clean and made sure that every day they left the house and the grounds around the house clean and free of any debris, particularly any old nails or staples. We now have a beautiful new roof good for at least the next 40 years and we're confident that we can weather (nearly) any storm.
