Well let's see: A few months ago I got 4 slices of pizza and a coke to go and it was around $16. Yes the pizza is the best around but sheesh. I didn't know I would have to mortgage my house for 4 slices. I walk in today and welcoming you is a sign on the cash register: "Ranch Dressing: 2 oz for 50 cents / 4 oz for $1.00" I then remembered the last time I had hot wings there (4 or 5 years ago for a reason....wait for it...) and they only gave out one small serving of ranch for a dozen hot wings and then (you guessed it) wanted to charge you for another small serving of ranch. Today I decided to try a chef salad and it's served WITHOUT a hard boiled egg! This is a first in my 56 years so I asked about it and was met with a shrug of a shoulder by the server who told me "We don't even carry eggs." WHAT??? It just reminded me why although I live a mile away, I barely eat there once a year. I find the prices, nickle and diming you for ranch dressing, and being innovative enough to create a chef salad with no eggs to be an arrogant example of "We are the best (and only) Italian Restaurant in town!!!" I stopped by on my way home and ordered a pizza for take out a few weeks ago. Boy! It was delicious! But the drawback is the price. $15.00 bucks for a single (although they call it a medium, 12"). In Florence for business, I followed my standard rule for eating outta town in a time crunch: look for the closest, non-chain, most-crowded lunch place. That brought me to A&M, and as usual, a solidly tasty lunchtime experience. Interestingly enough, A&M is apparently a chain, with sporadic locations across the country. They claim to have chosen Florence because the town's name reminded them of their Italian grandpa, who was their restaraunting mentor. How cute is that?! Pizza slices are prepped fresh, and are huge, thin-crusted, and greasy. The sauce is tangy, and the cheese has flavor. Mushrooms are a breaking point for me - nothing worse than getting served canned/jarred mushrooms at a restaurant - and the shrooms they threw on my slices were definitely fresh. Never placed an order. On 04/19/2023 approximately 12:10 past noon, I called to place an order. The male employee taking the order kept rudely interrupting me after I placed an order. When I asked him how long it would take? He said 25 minutes. When I said I wouldn't be able to place the order due to time constraints, he quickly did a 360 change in his attitude. All I wanted to convey to him was to simply retrieve information from him on when would be the best time to call in advance when I placed an order in the future. This guy, was a total jerk (the A Word would better fit, but I'm keeping it appropriate), he quickly became defensive and tried to chastise me for not following through with my original order. When I felt insulted and asked him if this how this establishment of business treated his customers, his response was, "yes if you're going to act that way!" When I asked him to please explain to me how I was acting so we can better communicate, he became intensely irate! He ended the call with these exact words, "Don't ever call back sir, and don't ever visit this restaurant!" I was like wow, I hope this guy is not the owner or a relative of the owner of this place, because if it is, then this place just went from10 points to 0 in my book of lifetime restaurants that I ever visited. I've never been insulted like this by anyone in any restaurant that I ever ordered from or visited. It's Florence for Pete's Sake, most of us that work here, either work for the justice courts or some part of corrections and we only have 30-60 minutes for a lunch break, so asking an established restaurant like this one on how much in advance to call to get your "Freakin" order in a timely manner is not much to ask! Just so this establishment knows, A & M PIZZA left me offended and betrayed because I work in the municipal area here in Florence, and we sometimes do large group orders and heavily patronize this place. Came to Florence, AZ for a wedding and needed something to eat before the big night. The pizza was decent, nothing too special about it. We ordered an extra large vegetarian pizza with a Caesar salad. The salad had red onion in it which I found weird. The pizza sauce was sweet, but I found the pizza dough to be a bit undercooked. The large salad is good for two or three to spilt. Overall, if you really really want pizza and can't wait till you get to Phoenix and just happen to be in Florence Arizona then this is the place for you! read more

It wasn't super greasy, the ingredients seemed fresh and they were great waitresses to help our rather large table. Good homemade pizza next to our Inn!! We ordered for delivery since it was across the street from where we were staying for the weekend and the pizza was pretty good! Steak special was really good! And the other pizza we got was the meat amore. Honestly both had really good flavor with just the right amount of sauce and meat. I'm writing this review based on the service the table next to us received. They waited 45 min after they placed thier order for the "Special". When they complained to the younger male manager, he did nothing to make it right. He didn't even look the customer in the eyes. As the manager was walking away he told the customer, in an unconcerned manner, "If there's anything I can do, let me know." The customer said, "Well, Im just not going to come here anymore." The manager, again, in an uncaring tone, as he is still walking away says, "Sorry to hear that." It made me angry that the manager didn't comp their plate. That would have been good customer service. He should have given him a free dessert. Something. The manager didn't even seem concerned. He didn't look the customer in the face. It just didn't set well with me. They need a manager that cares about his customers. Who wants to wait over 45 min to eat, not to mention the wait to get their order taken or the drive to get there. It's really a shame that the service was so bad and that the place was so dirty. If I left a rating just on the food it would be better. We got in and waited over 10 minutes before getting menus and drinks ordered, while others came in and got seated by other servers. We ordered fries for our appetizer and asked that they were served before the pizza, 25 minutes later, we asked if the fries were done and she said "yes, I'll be right back with them". Another 20 minutes later, here come the fries and they were just "meh". The pizza came out another 35 minutes later, all while watching others around us get served even though they came in after us. Finally, our pizza arrived and it was MASSIVE. The pizza was actually really good, it had really good sauce, cheese and toppings. Like I said, if this place cleaned up and had better service, I would recommend it but after the hour and 20 minute wait and the awful cleanliness, I just wont recommend this joint and we won't be going back. read more

I had a lunch special (chef salad) at the restaurant and it was OK. What I found later when I reviewed my charge account information was that they added $10.00 to my bill. I went to the restaurant to show my receipt and ask for the $10 back but they essentially blew me off and said the manager would call me. He never did so I contacted my credit union and gave them documentation and they are going to reverse $10 out of the transaction. My advice -- beware of this place -- the food is not good enough to then have to deal with dishonesty. read more

I ordered an Americano and was told they didn't have caffeinated coffee. The lady held up a Keurig style cup container. The window advertised "Espresso". ALL LIES!! Why advestise if you don't use the machine? There was a beautiful espresso machine there! I ended up ordereing drip. Then they forgot to give it to me until I mentioned it. AND on top of that they didn't have half and half. What kind of restaurant doesn't have caffeinated espresso and cream??!! I even asked for powder cream. Nope. Angel hair pasta? Nope, didn't have it. WTF?? I find that hard to believe even for a small town like Florence. Who the fuck are you kidding??!! I gave it 2 stars because the server seemed new and could only do so much. I ordered the Monday SPECIAL Lasagna...where do I start....The lasagna pasta were hard ( I'm pretty sure they were nuked in a microwave ) The source was very bland could not taste any spices.. On a scale of 1 to 10 this was about a 3. And all yea they're Monday Lasagna special cost me $15.43.. You can go to a 5 star italion restaurant in Phoenix and it won't cost you any more than that which they were put on special.. I wanted olive oil and vinegar on the side for my salad and they only gave me the vinegar I know olive oil is expensive but come on your Charging a premium for your so called special and you can'teven give me Olive oil. And don't tell me lasagna is expensive I know the food cost on a plate a lasagna I owned 3 I talian restaurants in New York so don't try to BS me. Had a TERRIBLE experience there recently when a bunch of kids (12 to 15 kids) ages 4 to 12 or so where running and yelling in the dining room, throwing balls and paper airplanes. They were finished eating and only 3 parents were there, ignoring the kids, sitting and chatting at the table. We could not hear ourselves the kids were so loud and obnoxious. One dad was weakly trying to contain them but not really able to. We were just trying to have dinner. We finally simply asked the kids to please sit down, and much later a parent who was not even there when the kids were misbehaving came to our table and belligerently confronted us. He was a total jerk and caused a scene. The manager and wait staff did NOTHING about the whole situation. It was a horrible experience and I am NEVER going back. Food review: The pizza is just OKAY anyway. The salads are bad. There is a "Tossed Salad" on the menu. Tossed Salad means that the dressing is tossed together with the other vegetables and salad ingredients. Anyone with any restaurant experience knows that. Half of the restaurant was flooded so seating was limited and crowded and in between taking orders the staff was also trying to clean up the water. We have been eating at A&M since its opening over 20 years ago. Over the years we've accumulated many family memories here ; graduations, birthdays, retirements and just regular old family dinners. The place has became part of us and always has a comfortable, friendly and safe (it's a cop hang out) atmosphere. As pointed out by other reviewers over the years the food ha been sometimes inconsistent but I can tell you that for the last year or so it has been top notch.
